My Talent's Name Is Generator Chapter 962 Fire In The House

A nod was my response.
"I had expected more," I stated softly. My gaze then returned to him. "What is your name?"
"Rudy."
"Alright Rudy, you were very cooperative. Can you tell me why?"
"Because I don't like pain and don't wanna die," he declared instantly. "See, I told you everything you wanted to know. If you succeed, I'll stay in this city and work under you. If you lose, then… well, you'll die and I'll be free."
"Very straightforward of you, Rudy," I commented. "But you are a believer. Won't living under me affect you?"
He exhaled and gave a nod.
"It will. If I'm not trying to defeat Defiers, the experience I gain from kills will be reduced by half. Which means I'll level up slower… but at least I'll be alive."
I nodded and rose to my feet.
"I understand. But I'll have to put you down till I'm done here."
Without waiting for his reply, I knocked him unconscious once more and descended the stairs.
Once below, I accessed my status panel.

"Maybe four or five more levels… then I should be able to take their level fifty boss down," I murmured to myself.
I no longer bothered with concealment.
The instant I stepped outside the house, I did so openly. The city was already on high alert, activity surging in every direction, but this time, I made no effort to avoid it.
After turning into a narrower street, I reduced my pace just enough to survey the path ahead, and two figures emerged into view, walking directly towards me, their white robes starkly visible even in the dim light filtering between the buildings. They noticed me at the same moment I noticed them, both halting mid-stride as their eyes fixated on the hood obscuring my face.
For a fleeting second, absolute stillness prevailed.
Then, one of them let out a shout.
"He's here!"
A grin stretched across my face beneath the hood, and I moved.
The intervening distance vanished instantly as I charged forward, my grip tightening on the axe as they both reacted, their greatswords rising in a defensive posture. The first opponent stepped in, bringing his blade down in a swift vertical strike, but I shifted my body slightly aside, allowing the blow to narrowly miss my shoulder. In the very same movement, my axe swept across.
The sharp edge cleaved through his neck with clean precision. He crumpled to the ground without a sound.
The second opponent froze for a bare fraction of a second before attempting to flee, his body already twisting away. I drew my arm back and hurled the axe.
It spun through the air in a compact, arcing trajectory.
Then, it struck home.
The blade plunged deep into his back, the sheer force propelling him forward as he stumbled and crashed heavily onto the ground, his body ceasing movement a moment later.
I strode over to him, retrieved the axe, and as I straightened, the sound of multiple approaching footsteps reached me. I tightened my grip and held my ground.
Four more figures entered the street moments later, their hostile intentions evident the instant they glimpsed the fallen bodies.

The leader, the Level 35 individual, stepped slightly forward and was about to speak.
I denied him the opportunity.
"Impact Burst."
Energy surged around my legs, a faint yellow luminescence flaring as it unleashed, propelling my body forward in a direct line. I covered the distance before they could even react, my knee driving forcefully into the chest of the leading figure.
The impact was devastating.
His body launched backward, soaring through the street before slamming onto the ground nearly twenty feet away. The force of the collision folded him in upon himself.
I landed and immediately spun around. The remaining three were already upon me.
I surged forward and swung.
The axe cut in a broad arc, a trail of yellow energy tracing its edge as it passed through the necks of two of them in one fluid motion. The momentum carried through unimpeded. Their bodies dropped almost simultaneously.
The last opponent reached me.
His sword pulsed with a faint silver glow as he executed a horizontal swing; the strike was incredibly fast. I brought my axe up to intercept, the blades meeting with a forceful impact that reverberated up my arms, the force of the collision greater than any of the preceding ones.
"That's a skill…" I breathed out, a low murmur.
He advanced again, following up with another menacing strike, but I shifted my position, moving inside his reach this time. I allowed the blade to whistle past just behind me as I surged forward, closing the distance completely.
My axe rose. Then descended.
The blade sliced through his neck with clean finality. He fell precisely where he stood.
Without pausing, I turned and began walking towards the individual I had sent flying earlier. He was still clinging to life, barely, his ruined body splayed against the ground, ribs starkly visible where the brutal impact had torn through his flesh.
I lingered over him for a moment before swinging my axe one final time, ending his struggle and putting him out of his misery.

Without hesitation, I departed the narrow alleyway, making my way back toward the main road.
The instant I emerged from the shadows, the world around me transformed.
My danger sense erupted with primal intensity, a sharp jolt that compelled my body to react before conscious thought could even form. I pivoted on the spot, bringing my axe down in a defensive arc just as a powerful impact collided with the blade.
The force of the strike felt akin to a cannonball. A concentrated, piercing power that slammed into the center of the axe, sending a jarring shockwave up my arms before I could properly brace myself. My footing dissolved, the momentum carrying through my entire being as I was violently propelled backward, my body airborne.
The surroundings became a streaky blur.
My back met the wall of a house bordering the main road with bone-jarring force. The wooden structure groaned and splintered under the impact, my body tearing through the facade as debris exploded outward. I slammed into the ground inside, skidding across the floorboards before abruptly stopping. The breath was punched from my lungs, and the settling dust obscured my vision.
"Damn, that hurt," I grumbled, struggling to rise. The ringing in my ears muted all other sounds momentarily, my vision swimming as I vigorously shook my head to clear it. The air within the ruined structure was heavy with dust and wood fragments, the remains of the walls precariously balanced after my abrupt entry. Then, the sounds from outside began to penetrate the haze.
Shouts.
"Fire in the house!"
The words registered just as I turned, my gaze locking onto a flaming arrow slicing through the air.
Then another.
And another.
They blazed through the shattered entryway, striking the scattered timber within and embedding themselves. Flames erupted instantly, the dry planks igniting with alarming speed. The fire climbed with ferocious intensity, devouring the debris, and the rising heat made the air thick, then utterly suffocating.
My eyes widened fractionally.
"Oops."
