The protagonist's soul energy reaches a new height after consuming a white orb. Amun advises against an immediate rank-up and instructs the protagonist to purchase three Frozen Reliquaries using merit points to preserve their body during a future soul journey. The protagonist returns home, reassuring their concerned companions and setting up defenses before the journey.

The following day dawned with everyone assembled in the living room: Knight, Ragnar, Lyrate, Aurora, Silver, Ash, Steve, North, and Vivi.

It was evident that a decision had been reached regarding who would accompany me.

"So," I inquired, my gaze sweeping over them, "what was the final decision?"

Knight and Lyrate stepped forward, placing themselved squarely in front of me.

My eyes briefly flickered between the two of them.

This outcome was not what I had anticipated.

A slight smile touched my lips.

"Oh, this is quite a surprise," I commented. "How did you all arrive at this particular conclusion?"

"Well, it involved a considerable amount of arguing… and, admittedly, a few scuffles," Aurora responded, stepping forward. Despite her explanation, a clear note of disappointment colored her tone.

I offered a slight nod, then crossed my arms.

"Very well," I stated. "I am prepared to hear the reasons each of you was not chosen."

Aurora let out a subdued sigh. "It was because I am an elemental. My soul is inherently not as robust from the outset. The prevailing argument was that I might struggle to provide adequate support or to cultivate a new talent after reincarnating in that new world."

I considered her explanation for a moment, then nodded in understanding.

"And what about you, Ragnar?"

Ragnar huffed, crossing his arms defensively. "They claimed I am too hot-headed and lack the necessary diplomatic skills."

I had to actively suppress a laugh, as that assessment was… not entirely inaccurate.

"Silver?"

He offered a light shrug. "The reasoning alleged that I am prone to absent-mindedness and excessively preoccupied with my appearance. Frankly, that makes little sense to me. My strength is equivalent to theirs."

"That assessment stems from your connection to Billion," Aurora interjected calmly. "Such an advantage may not carry over, as you would be starting anew."

Silver's brow furrowed slightly, but he refrained from further argument.

Before I could prompt another, Ash spoke up of his own accord.

"My rejection was based on the assertion that I possess no distinct personality," he stated matter-of-factly. "They fear I might struggle to integrate into the society there if the situation demanded it."

I nodded, offering no immediate comment on his behalf.

My attention then turned to Vivi.

"My duty is to remain here and safeguard the galaxy," she explained. Her voice was steady, though the indignation in her eyes was unmistakable.

For a beat, I remained silent. There was little I could say to alleviate the sting of her assignment.

Ultimately, my focus shifted to North and Steve.

"Our souls ranked at the very bottom," Steve explained, shaking his head in frustration. "That single criterion eliminated us from the start. This situation is thoroughly disappointing. I yearned to explore another universe, and now I'm relegated to leveling up here, striving to attain the Saint realm… and likely getting entangled in numerous romantic relationships. Because of you, I've never even had the opportunity for a single one."

I blinked, looking at him in disbelief. "Are you genuinely attributing that to me?"

"Indirectly, yes," he affirmed without the slightest hesitation.

"Indeed?" I questioned, raising an eyebrow. "You truly believe that?"

He paused for a moment, then gave a slight shrug. "To some extent, yes."

A small chuckle escaped me. "Understood. Now that I am no longer a factor, you will have ample time. Proceed, and pursue as many relationships as your heart desires."

"Oh, I certainly will," he declared with an air of confidence.

I lightly shook my head before turning my attention to North. She remained silent, but no verbal confirmation was necessary. We had already exchanged all the critical sentiments the previous night. I had entrusted her with the care of Vaythos and our people, and in return, she had implored me to return.

That understanding was sufficient.

With these confirmations, the matter was settled. By process of elimination, Knight and Lyrate were the companions for my journey.

"Very well," I announced, addressing the assembled group. "I am entrusting all matters here to your capable hands, Aurora and Vivi. The strategic plans involving Primus and Ash are already in motion. Your primary focus should be their effective execution, and upon my return, we shall advance towards the Prime Galaxy."

I paused for a brief interval before adding a crucial point,

"And, naturally… you will assume responsibility for safeguarding our physical bodies during our absence."

"Now, I require a few private moments with North," I stated.

An immediate silence fell over the room. One by one, they vanished from the house in a flash.

I approached her deliberately, closing the intervening space, and enfolded her in my arms, drawing her near. She melted into my embrace without any resistance, her head settling against my chest as if she had been anticipating this very moment.

I could sense the rhythm of her breathing, initially steady, then becoming slightly erratic, and I tightened my hold around her just a fraction.

"I do not welcome this," she whispered softly.

"I understand," I replied, my voice hushed as I rested my cheek gently atop her hair.

She stirred, lifting her head to meet my gaze, her eyes searching mine as if seeking an anchor in the uncertainty.

"This time… I will not even be able to sense your presence," she murmured, her voice barely audible.

I raised my hand, tenderly brushing a stray lock of her hair away from her face. My fingertips lingered against the softness of her cheek.

"I will return," I promised.

Her gaze softened incrementally, though the hint of worry persisted.

"You'd better manage it," she responded.

A subtle smile touched my lips, and before another word could be exchanged, I leaned forward, placing a tender kiss upon her forehead.

"Stay safe," I whispered, my thumb gently caressing her cheek.

"You too," she returned, her voice barely audible.

I leaned in once more, this time bestowing a gentle kiss upon her lips.

As I drew back infinitesimally, she held on. Instead, she drew nearer, erasing the small distance between us, and kissed me back with a touch more insistence, as though she wished the moment to linger indefinitely.

"I shall return before you miss me too acutely," I murmured softly.

She emitted a quiet huff, yet the corners of her lips upturned slightly. "That's simply not possible."

A soft chuckle escaped me as I placed one final, delicate kiss near the edge of her lips, my forehead briefly touching hers.

For a suspended moment, we remained in that embrace, close enough to perceive each breath, each thrumming heartbeat.

We had returned to the base situated near the Crimson Zone, and precisely as before, Amun remained immobile, seated cross-legged with his eyes shut. One elbow rested upon his knee, his face supported languidly in his palm, as if time had ceased its passage for him.

The instant of our arrival coincided with the opening of his eyes.

"So… prepared to embark?" he inquired, a subtle spark of eagerness already evident.

"You appear even more eager than yesterday," I remarked, observing him intently.

In the subsequent moment, he vanished, only to reappear directly before me, so close that the spatial disturbance was still dissipating.

"Naturally, I am," he declared, his tone imbued with a rare intensity. "You fail to grasp the significance of this juncture. This represents a crucial divergence. Should you succeed, our prospects of vanquishing the Eternals and halting this onslaught will escalate dramatically. And if you do not return…"

He made a concise gesture across his throat.

"…then our defeat is assured."

The levity from moments prior had vanished entirely.

"However," he continued, straightening somewhat, "as a gesture of accord, neither I nor the system have imposed any stipulations on your requests to the Crimson authorities. That determination rests entirely with you."

His gaze locked with mine.

"The sole request we have is that you keep in mind your purpose. Your homeland is under invasion. You journey there to discover a resolution to this crisis."

A faint smirk played on my lips.

"Rest assured," I stated. "I am not venturing there to solicit the creation of a vast fortune."

A brief silence ensued before I resumed, "In any event, further discourse is unnecessary. I have completed all requisite preparations. Let us commence."

Amun gave a single nod and produced three tokens, extending them towards me. I accepted one for myself and passed the remaining two to Knight and Lyrate.

Amun's glance fell upon them, and he offered a slight nod. "An excellent selection."

He then appended, "One final detail. You shall not arrive simultaneously. Rebirth will occur in disparate locations. Therefore, locate one another with utmost expediency."

I creased my brow slightly. "Separate locations? How are we to identify each other then?"

He offered a casual shrug. "Whatever appellation you adopt there, revert it to your current designation. Your recollections will remain intact. Beyond that… it will hinge upon your eventual whereabouts and the nature of the task you undertake. You will need to ascertain it."

Knight flipped the token in his hand, his expression unmoved. "So much for projecting an aura of might, yet being unable to assist with something so fundamental."

"I shall disregard that remark," Amun replied without hesitation.

With a sweep of his hand, the three sarcophagi materialized once more, settling silently upon the ground.

"Very well," he announced. "Recline within, fracture the tokens, and your transition to the terminal will be initiated. From that point, you may select your objective."
