My Talent's Name Is Generator Chapter 832 Meet Up
Previously on My Talent's Name Is Generator...
Silver and I lingered in the heart of the capital's plaza as the planet gradually embraced its newfound hush. The purple luminescence enveloping Abor's skies had softened a bit while the world adapted to the change in power. The city around us endured, even if vast areas had been swept clean from the prior clash. The teleportation points stayed operational.
Silver drifted idly overhead before swooping down to land next to me, tucking his wings away. 'You know,' he remarked in an offhand manner, surveying the urban sprawl, 'this spot seems way better now that most of the hideous creatures are out of the picture.'
'That was the plan,' I answered.
Once Knight and Lyrate had left, I tracked and wiped out every lingering Phantom in the city. Taking them down boosted my level even more, pushing it up to 489.
He flashed a subtle smile. 'I like it.'
Our chat wrapped up as a portal in the teleportation hub burst into activation. The round entrance lit up abruptly, its rune-etched border flaring while the space inside swirled into a profound purple vortex.
Shortly after, shapes started emerging from it.
Knight came out leading, his dark robes gleaming as he exited the portal like he was back from a casual walk instead of a cross-sector operation. His tail swayed idly in his wake as his keen eyes quickly scanned the plaza.
The rest followed in his path.
Steve came next, rolling his shoulders while eyeing the city with evident interest. North trailed silently, her gaze already probing the area. Ragnar's massive build blocked the portal for an instant before he moved on, and Aurora materialized at his side, her features etched with obvious annoyance.
Ash was the final one out, giving the portal a quick once-over before directing his focus ahead. The entrance faded as the spatial flow steadied once more.
They zipped into view and materialized in the plaza's center.
Silver folded his arms while they neared. 'That was quick.'
Knight shot him a look. 'I don't have wings holding me back.'
Silver inclined his head. 'Yeah, tough break for you.'
Steve glanced from one of us to the other, then fixed on me with a broad smile. 'So this is the Hollow Star's headquarters. Not quite what I pictured.'
'Yeah. I was taken aback as well. Who would've guessed they'd control an entire planet and society.'
Aurora advanced until she was right before me, her blonde locks swaying gently with her steps. A touch of humor played in her features as she examined my expression.
'You put me in charge of the mission,' Aurora stated evenly, eyeing me with her typical calm, insightful stare, 'and then called me back before we could really get started.'
'I required your presence here,' I responded.
She angled her head a fraction, her blonde hair moving accordingly. 'I realized that. But did you really need us so soon? A bit more time would've helped.'
'Well,' I offered with a light shrug, 'I'm short on people for my next move, so you all had to return.'
Her gaze sharpened as she inspected me closer.
'Is that the true motive,' she queried deliberately, 'or did you just miss your girl?'
A soft laugh slipped from me before I turned to North. She held my eyes and offered a brief, playful grin.
'I'm not that lucky, Aurora,' she replied with a sly smirk.
Knight picked that instant to move up, smoothly straightening the cuffs of his dark robe. 'I've briefed them on the matter en route.'
Steve dipped his head in confirmation. 'Seventy-two bases,' he noted, eyeing the damaged cityscape as though picturing them simultaneously. 'That's an impressive tally.'
I shot them both a wordless nod of thanks for redirecting the topic.
North crossed her arms casually, fully aware of the shift, though the slight upturn of her mouth indicated she relished the exchange more than she showed.
Ragnar stayed quiet yet alert, tracking the discussion without comment.
Ash lifted his head after finishing his scan of the city. 'The portal system holds up remarkably well,' he observed offhandedly. 'The creators of this setup clearly knew their craft.'
Silver bent in toward me and murmured, loud enough for all to catch, 'He’s saying the traitors were skilled.'
'They got time to set things up,' I countered.
Aurora eyed the nearby buildings again before locking eyes with me. 'What's our next step?'
'We're holding for Lyrate. She's off fetching Primus and some extra hands for us.' I explained.
Silver gave a minor grin at the news. 'With her in the mix, bet something explosive is unfolding elsewhere.'
Knight offered a brief nod of assent.
I cleared my throat uneasily and looked at North.
'Um… North,' I said, scratching the nape of my neck, 'could you step over here a moment?'
Her brow arched faintly, but she approached regardless.
Behind us, Silver pivoted to Steve with feigned eagerness. 'You know,' he announced clearly, 'this city must boast some top-notch eats. Hidden-planet societies always stock great cooks.'
Steve's face brightened right away. 'Spot on. Let's check it out.'
Aurora concealed her grin with her palm. Knight bobbed his head gravely, as if the idea held vital tactical value. Ragnar gave a shrug and tagged along, while Ash stared at me in confusion until Ragnar tugged him too.
In moments, the whole crew started wandering off, deliberately granting us privacy.
I observed their departure, sensing the setup snap shut.
North linked her arms and regarded me steadily. 'So,' she said, 'what was so pressing that you pulled me away like this?'
I cleared my throat. 'Well… it's like…'
She paused expectantly.
I avoided her eyes entirely.
'I figured,' I ventured cautiously, 'after wiping out a whole planet's hidden outpost and gearing up for seventy-two more assaults… perhaps we could chat briefly?'
Her mouth quirked upward.
'I'm listening.'
Once the group had sauntered off, the plaza fell still. The earlier strain in the atmosphere had dissipated. Abor's heavens retained that subtle purple tint from my command of the world core, and for the first occasion since the conflict ignited, a basic truth hit me.
I felt at ease. No alerts blared. No foes rushed in. No abrupt dangers forced choices. No pressing drive to power up.
It was solely her.
North positioned herself a short distance off, observing me with her usual composed look, yet her eyes held a gentle glow.
I drew in a deep breath and moved nearer.
