Macaco offers Lord Billion a deal: escape within twelve hours or face the Wardens. Lord Billion agrees to a mysterious future favor in exchange for Macaco's help and a safe return to the library, where their twelve-hour countdown begins.

I remained silent while considering the problem. My first thought naturally went to Echo Reversion.

The technique allowed me to return to places I had previously visited, and during our journey toward the Twelfth’s prison, I had crossed countless locations throughout the Soul Sea.

The problem was the distance. The trial was so far from the Prime Territory that even with my current Soul Force and perception, I couldn’t establish a direct connection to the Prime Territory.

I would have to make successive jumps, each one taking me to the farthest location I had previously visited in that direction before repeating the process again. Even then, completing enough jumps within twelve hours would push the limits of what my body could endure.

Gerald’s voice pulled me back to the situation. "And it isn’t only the journey. Once we reach the Prime Territory, we still have to deal with Verilux. We need to defeat the Eternals, obtain the contracts, and somehow alter the structure of those contracts. Then there is the Twelfth Soul Current and the rods you created. If we’re going to use them against Verilux, we need to figure out how to do that as well."

He looked across the remaining survivors, and the worry in his expression was reflected on almost every face around him.

We had already lost so many people during the trials and the battle with Viserys, and now we were being given a deadline that seemed almost impossible to meet. Even reaching the Prime Territory within twelve hours was uncertain, yet everything we had come here to accomplish still remained ahead of us.

I closed my eyes.

For several moments, I allowed the noise of the Soul Sea to fade into the background while I considered every possibility. There was no point worrying about whether the task was impossible. We had already crossed that line the moment we entered the Twelfth’s prison. The only question that mattered now was whether I could find a way to make it possible.

When I opened my eyes again, the uncertainty was gone.

"Don’t worry," I said, looking directly at Gerald. "Leave it to me."

Gerald seemed about to object, but I raised my hand.

"I have a way to reach the Prime Territory faster than your vessel ever could. But I need to go alone."

The others immediately understood what I meant. Before anyone could argue, I focused my perception outward and began preparing Echo Reversion. Three runes appeared before me, representing Time, Space and Soul. They rotated slowly before converging into a single formation, and the moment the three authorities merged, my perception expanded across the Soul Sea.

I searched through the memories of our journey.

One location.

Then another.

I finally locked onto the farthest point I had previously visited toward the Prime Territory, a location our vessel had crossed during the journey to the trial. It was nowhere near the Prime Territory, but it was the maximum distance I could currently reach with Echo Reversion.

I looked back at the others.

"Keep moving once I leave. Arrive as fast as you can. I will attack Verilux."

Before anyone could respond, I activated the technique.

I disappeared.

My body dissolved into countless fragments of Soul Force, and for an instant there was nothing except complete darkness. Then space suddenly reassembled around me.

I appeared above the Soul Sea at the location I had selected.

The moment my body stabilized, a violent wave of nausea hit me. Blood surged up my throat, and I barely managed to turn my head before vomiting a mouthful of crimson into the air. The distance I had crossed had consumed an enormous amount of Soul Force, and even my current body had struggled to endure the transition.

I wiped the blood from my mouth and looked toward the distant horizon.

Still too far.

I needed another jump.

But before making it, I closed my eyes and sent my consciousness into the Dawn Core.

My soul appeared above the isolated region where the black ocean remained contained. The enormous body of darkness was still violently struggling against the millions of suppressing runes embedded throughout the mountains and riverbeds. Waves crashed against the invisible boundaries, while countless souls continued screaming from within the depths.

I looked at the ocean for a moment.

Then I raised my hand.

A small section of the black ocean separated from the rest.

Only one percent.

The isolated portion rose above the containment formation before falling onto the deadened land below. The moment it touched the ground, the black liquid twisted violently and began taking shape. Tentacles erupted from its surface as a grotesque creature emerged, its enormous mouth opening toward me while countless souls screamed from within its body.

It lunged.

I was prepared and raised my palm to activate Absolute Art: Eternal Consumption.

The creature froze.

Its black body began trembling violently as the authority of Consumption spread through every fragment of Soul Force within it. The liquid started collapsing inward, and beneath the darkness I could see countless faint blue souls beginning to separate from the mass.

They were drawn toward me.

One after another, the souls entered my Soul Sea while the surrounding black Soul Force was refined and converted into energy that could replenish what I had spent using Echo Reversion. The process was not instantaneous, but it was efficient enough to give me a continuous source of recovery while I continued my journey.

I opened my eyes.

The next jump was already prepared.

Another set of Time, Space and Soul runes formed before me, while my consciousness remained connected to the Dawn Core. Outside, my body activated Echo Reversion once again and disappeared from the Soul Sea.

Another enormous distance vanished.

I reappeared at the next location.

The nausea returned, but this time I was prepared for it. I immediately redirected my consciousness into the Dawn Core and continued refining another portion of the black ocean through Eternal Consumption.

Then I jumped again.

And again.

Each time, Echo Reversion carried me closer to the Prime Territory, while the Dawn Core continuously replenished the Soul Force I was consuming. The black ocean became my reservoir, and my journey became a cycle of teleportation and recovery.

The twelve-hour countdown had begun.

And I intended to reach the Prime Territory long before it ended.
