Annie's scheme to ruin Joanna's reputation has been exposed, turning public opinion in Joanna's favor. Despite this victory, Joanna feels little emotion, having moved past Annie as an irrelevant figure. She, however, finds herself trying to manage a new complication, having secretly sought help from Gary White and Jeremy Lawrence instead of Ashton Heath. Ashton calls, his tone cold and upset, having discovered Joanna returned to Closia without telling him, leading to a tense conversation before they agree to meet.

"Ashton Heath, I'll sort everything out for you once we get to the company, okay?"

The man on the other end of the line fell silent for a moment.

"Fine, I'll await your explanation."

Ten minutes later, the taxi carrying Joanna Lawrence pulled up to the Heath Group building.

As Joanna alighted, she spotted Cody Aberton waiting by the entrance. Upon seeing her, Cody immediately strode over.

"Ms. Joanna." Cody greeted her respectfully as he approached.

"Why are you waiting here?" Joanna inquired.

Cody replied truthfully, "President Ashton mentioned you were coming and asked me to descend and await your arrival."

A slight curve of Joanna's lips formed upon hearing this.

Despite his anger towards her, he still arranged for Cody to fetch her. This man, even when displeased, remained so considerate and attentive towards her.

This was the essence of Ashton Heath.

Perhaps it was due to his unwavering indulgence that she often felt no fear of him leaving, no matter the circumstances.

Because he was always so easily appeased.

Even when provoked, a few sweet words and a touch of her coquettish charm would be enough to soothe him.

Joanna entered the lobby with Cody and stepped into the elevator. She then asked, "Is President Ashton in a bad mood?"

After a brief pause for thought, Cody nodded and responded, "He is, somewhat. However, Ms. Joanna, please be assured. President Ashton is not upset about your scandal. He fully trusts you and has never doubted your integrity. Furthermore, President Ashton has already uncovered that the scandal was orchestrated by someone seeking attention."

Cody elaborated specifically to prevent Joanna from spiraling into overthinking.

Joanna smiled, "I knew he wouldn't fall for those scandalous rumors. By the way, is he busy at the moment?"

"President Ashton just concluded a meeting and isn't excessively occupied. During the two days you were away, he was constantly thinking of you. He will undoubtedly be overjoyed to see you."

"Really?" Joanna expressed slight skepticism.

Under typical conditions, Ashton would indeed be pleased.

However, on this occasion, she would need to actively soothe him first.

Hopefully, it wouldn't prove too arduous.

While this man had always been easy to placate, her usual methods seemed less potent than before.

Previously, a single sentence or a minute would suffice to calm Ashton.

Now, he remained unmoved unless she uttered ten or more words, coupled with promises of certain 'benefits'.

The benefits Ashton sought were, in truth, quite straightforward.

It was simply that... she would inevitably find herself with an aching back and sore legs once more.

"President Ashton, Ms. Joanna has arrived." Cody pushed open the office door, and after Joanna entered, he gently closed it behind her.

Joanna stepped into the office, observing Ashton engrossed in a document, his attention fully captured.

She couldn't discern whether he genuinely hadn't heard Cody's announcement or if he was deliberately feigning ignorance. Regardless, Ashton did not lift his gaze towards her.

He appeared profoundly focused on the papers in his hands.

Yet, Joanna was astute enough to recognize Ashton's deliberate act.

He was intentionally disregarding her presence.

Pretending not to notice her arrival.

He had known in advance of her impending visit and had Cody waiting for her downstairs. Now that she was here, he displayed no reaction whatsoever.

He was engaging in a game of silent treatment with her.

Clearly, he was upset and awaiting her efforts to appease him.

The man seated before the imposing black office desk was clad only in a white shirt. It was a design of stark simplicity, yet it adorned him with an unparalleled elegance.

His exceptional aura and commanding presence transformed the plain white shirt into something resplendent upon him.
