Paparazzi attempting to photograph Joanna Lawrence and Frank Parker were caught by Frank. His bodyguards smashed their cameras and he vowed to investigate their media company, potentially costing the reporters their jobs.
A reporter feigned a pitiful demeanor, tears streaming down her face as she addressed Joanna Lawrence. Joanna paused for a moment before turning to Frank Parker. "Their cameras have already been destroyed; let's just consider it even," she suggested. Frank Parker's eyes softened slightly upon hearing her voice. He gazed at Joanna, his expression demonstrably warmer than when dealing with others, and inquired, "You don't wish to pursue this any further?" "Yes," Joanna affirmed with a nod. "The destruction of their cameras can serve as their punishment." "Alright," Frank Parker readily agreed. "If you say it's over, then it's over." Neither of the two reporters had anticipated that pleading with Joanna would be so effective. They were even more astonished that Frank Parker would heed Joanna's words so readily. Her declaration that it was finished immediately led to him letting the matter drop. It was common knowledge that this particular young master from the Parker family was not known for his easygoing nature, nor was he inclined to simply yield to others' requests. The two reporters exchanged a look, then a meaningful glance passed between them. "Thank you, Ms. Joanna. Thank you, Mr. Parker," the reporters hastily bowed and offered their apologies. Frank Parker curtly stated, "Get out of here." "Yes, yes, yes, we'll leave immediately, right away." Following this, the two reporters made a swift exit. Joanna watched them depart. "I must thank you once more for what just happened. It’s fortunate you had someone stop them in time; otherwise, I shudder to think what kind of news would surface tomorrow." "I don't concern myself with what they might write about me," Frank Parker's deep gaze lingered on her face for a moment as he whispered, "But they won't be permitted to write any nonsense about you." His statement carried a subtly ambiguous undertone. Joanna immediately felt a sense of unease. Previously, unaware of Frank Parker's true feelings for her, such remarks wouldn't have struck her as odd. However, ever since Frank Parker had confessed his affection, each encounter left her feeling increasingly unsettled. This growing discomfort prompted her desire to depart promptly. "In any case, thank you. I'm going back to find my friends now." "Alright," Frank Parker, sensing her eagerness to leave, offered no further objections. His voice, however, deepened, becoming more resonant as he added, "I'll be here at Luxe Lounge for an extended period tonight. Should you require anything, feel free to come find me." "Just inform the waitress in your private room; they'll know which room I'm in." Despite knowing Joanna would likely never seek him out, he extended the offer nonetheless. Joanna offered a nod before turning and leaving. Long after her figure had completely vanished from his sight, Frank Parker remained rooted to the spot, his gaze fixed on the direction she had gone, for a considerable time. She was no longer present. Yet, the air was still imbued with her lingering fragrance. A sweet, fruity aroma mingled with floral notes, a scent that haunted his dreams, night after night. * Annie Lawrence hailed a taxi and made her way to Luxe Lounge. Upon exiting the vehicle, she hurried into the establishment. David Benington had provided her with Frank Parker's private room number and assured her that he was alone in the room. He had apparently come to drown his sorrows in solitude. While others might not understand the reason for his solitary drinking, Annie could make an educated guess. If Frank Parker was indeed drinking because of that little *bitch*, it undeniably signified his deep affection for her.
