My Secret Billionaire Husband Chapter 2788 - 2796: Mocking Her for Not Knowing How to Soothe a Child
Previously on My Secret Billionaire Husband...
"The other two kids act so perfectly, and Lucus isn’t the baby either. Why does he come off so oblivious? If he’s too timid and didn’t wish to join the show, he never should have shown up."
"At just four years old, Lucus naturally misses his mom and dad and yearns to head home. Those criticizing him hold impossibly high bars. Besides, the staff guided Lucus from the elevator and he was calm then, wasn’t he? The meltdown hit only after Omega Huntley appeared."
"I spotted it too—Lucus stayed quiet without tears or tantrums initially. But seeing Omega Huntley seemed to frighten him, sparking the cries and fuss. He rejected her as his mom, clearly showing his dislike."
"Kids sense things sharply, picking up good or malicious vibes. I suspect Lucus picked up on something, prompting that outburst."
With the young lad gripping Edward Cooper tightly and refusing to release, Edward struggled to quiet him down. Just when they felt helpless, Porter Rushbrook, who’d been quietly watching the scene for some time, spoke up abruptly: "Lucus, want to play a game with me?"
The moment Porter uttered those words, the tearful child nestled in Edward’s hold ceased sobbing instantly.
Porter calmly drew out his phone, launched the King of Glory app: "Quit crying and follow my lead, and I’ll let you have one round. Sound good? Up for it? Will you obey?"
He then dangled the phone right before the little one’s face.
Moments earlier, the boy’s eyes had swelled red from weeping, cheeks streaked with tears, yet now they sparkled as he eyed the screen.
A sly smile curved Porter’s lips as he strolled over casually and dropped into a squat: "Lucus, do you want to play the game?"
The child blinked rapidly, tears vanishing in a flash, gaze locked on the phone: "Yes!"
"Good, obey me and you can play." Porter extended his arms, lifting the boy smoothly from Edward’s grasp into his own, hoisting him with ease: "No more tears now. You’ve got your real dad, I get it, but I’m your dad for this stint. You’ll stick with me awhile. Like me or hate me, let’s power through these two weeks in our stand-in father-son duo, alright?"
"Once the two weeks pass, go home or wherever—no one will block you. Till then, mind me, your temp dad, clear?" Porter passed the phone to the boy and strode off toward the room, child in arms.
Bystanders gawked in shock at how Porter quelled the raging tot with just a few simple phrases.
Held securely in Porter’s embrace, the boy quit his wails and protests, meekly allowing the carry-away.
Edward gazed on briefly before sighing in awe: "Who knew Porter, still so youthful, handles kids like a pro."
Nearby staff chimed in agreement: "Totally, Lucus flipped to well-behaved the instant he faced Porter."
Annie Lawrence caught their exchange, her features twisting into deeper gloom.
To her, Edward and the rest shaded her skills with children.
And seriously, what was Porter’s game?
They should’ve teamed up together.
Off he vanished with that troublesome brat, never once addressing her throughout!
What point was he making?
Intentionally icing her out over Joanna Lawrence?
