Satori fought Reyna, absorbing and redirecting her electric attacks. When Reyna's other teams began their assault, Satori ordered a strategic retreat to consolidate their forces on the central platform. Natalia arrived and defended Satori, publicly declaring him her boyfriend. They regrouped with their remaining teammates on the central platform, facing an overwhelming assault from all other teams.

The atmosphere around us was thick with the smell of burnt ozone and utter desperation. At the heart of our hastily formed defensive circle I stood, bat poised, as a mob of forty enraged teenagers advanced from every angle.

"Just look at all those furious faces," I remarked to Natalia, my voice deliberately lighthearted. "You'd think I'd personally insulted their mothers."

"You pretty much did with that grand speech you gave," she countered, conjuring a dome of purple energy that encapsulated our position. The barrier shimmered with a soft lavender glow. "The entire nation heard you throw down the gauntlet to them."

"I merely suggested they make it worth my while. That's practically a compliment in my book," I replied, shrugging. The pressure of forty hostile gazes felt like a palpable force pushing against Natalia’s shield.

Juan let out a sigh from my left, his fingers idly shuffling his cards. This was his telltale sign that his mind was deep in probability calculations. "This is precisely why everyone wants you dead."

"Because I have elevated standards?" I quipped.

"Because you're an insufferable, arrogant ass."

The initial assault struck us like a tidal wave, a dense mass of bodies and pure rage slamming into Natalia’s shield with enough ferocity to make the very platform tremble beneath our feet. Individuals collided with the barrier, their unique Aspects flaring in a dazzling, deadly spectrum of energies – crimson flames, emerald lightning, and sapphire ice. The shield held firm, but the strain was evident on Natalia’s face; her jaw clenched, beads of sweat forming on her forehead and trickling down her temple.

"I can't maintain this indefinitely," she grunted, her voice strained from channeling such immense power.

I assessed our precarious situation with the detached clarity of someone who had navigated worse odds. Eight of us against forty. A central platform bore a single flag – a stark red banner fluttering in the wind, a blatant bullseye painted on our backs. Nine minutes remained on the clock. The odds were grim, but numbers had never deterred me before.

"Alright, form up," I instructed, my voice lowering to a tactical whisper. "Natalia, drop the shield on my signal. Juan and Marco, establish a perimeter. Skylar, utilize stealth and eliminate their support. Raphael and Hikari, you're our primary assault. Isabelle, you're on defense. I'll handle Julian and Reyna personally."

Isabelle raised a perfectly sculpted eyebrow. "Engaging both guild captains simultaneously? Quite the ambitious undertaking."

"That's why the ladies adore me."

Natalia delivered a sharp elbow to my ribs. "Focus."

"Ready?" I grinned at my assembled group of misfits. "Three... two... one... NOW!"

The shield vanished, and utter chaos erupted.

Raphael and Hikari charged forward like twin cyclones of destruction. Raphael’s explosive punches sent three Vipers scattering, while Hikari’s flail became a blur of devastating strikes, carving a path through the Strikers.

Marco and Malachi moved with flawless coordination. Marco created openings with his concussive blasts, while Malachi emerged from the shadows to deliver pinpoint, lethal strikes. Together, they formed a mobile bulwark around our position, repelling the majority of the attackers.

Juan and Isabelle stood back-to-back, his empowered cards launching with deadly precision as her spear danced in elegant arcs of verdant energy. Their movements were a display of deadly artistry, covering our flanks with terrifying efficiency.

Skylar had already disappeared from sight, but the sporadic cries of pain erupting from the enemy ranks confirmed she was executing her task flawlessly.

"Such a show-off," Natalia muttered under her breath.

"Says the one who just broadcast our relationship status to the entire country," I retorted.

A faint pink flush crept up her cheeks. "It was a tactical maneuver. Reyna was momentarily distracted."

"Sure it was," I winked at her. "Totally tactical."

Before she could formulate a reply, Julian burst through our defensive line, his golden armor gleaming like a secondary sun. The arrogant fool was still zeroing in on me specifically.

"This farce ends now," he snarled, purple energy crackling between his outstretched fingers.

I stepped forward, my bat resting casually on my shoulder. "Pray tell, who's invited death to this party?"

He attacked with astonishing speed, his fist radiating quantum energy, aimed directly at my face. I sidestepped at the last microsecond, feeling the air warp as his Aspect distorted the very fabric of reality around his strike.

"Too sluggish, pretty boy," I taunted.

He roared in pure frustration, unleashing a rapid barrage of punches that would have obliterated a normal person's internal organs. I evaded most of them, parried a few with my bat, and relied on my Kinetic Absorption ability to nullify the impact of those that landed.

Each blow absorbed fueled my own strength. Every missed opportunity only fueled his rage further.

"Stand still and fight, you coward!" he bellowed.

"And miss out on all this fun? I don't think so."

I caught his next incoming punch with my bare hand, halting its momentum instantly. His eyes widened in disbelief as I tightened my grip, forcing him to his knees.

"Listen closely," I said, my voice deliberately low, ensuring no nearby microphones could capture my words. "You are utterly unremarkable. Your vaunted lineage means absolutely nothing to me. I intend to strip you of everything – your title, your reputation, your entire future."

I leaned in closer, lowering my voice even further.

"And when I’m finished, I’ll make certain everyone knows you were defeated by a nobody from Graystone Park." His face twisted in sheer hatred. "I will kill you for this." "Get in line." With a shove that sent him sprawling, I released him and returned my focus to the ongoing battle. Seven minutes remained on the timer. Natalia was locked in intense combat with a telekinetic Sentinel. Their powers clashed in a magnificent display of purple and blue energy. Despite sweat plastering her hair to her forehead, her eyes blazed with fierce determination as she pushed back against her adversary. Skylar had reappeared at the platform's edge, her knives dripping red as she weaved through three Vipers who couldn’t land a hit. Raphael, bleeding from a gash above his eye, was laughing wildly while exchanging devastating blows with Leo of the Phantoms. We were defending our position, but it was a struggle. For every attacker we took down, two more emerged to take their place. That was the moment Reyna made her move. She materialized as if from nowhere, accompanied by six marionettes, each crackling with enough electricity to power a small city. Her fiery red hair whipped around her face as her emerald eyes fixed on me with a predator's gaze. "Round two," she declared, and unleashed utter chaos. The marionettes attacked in perfect unison, converging on me from six different directions simultaneously. I activated Lightning Rod, absorbing the initial barrage of electrical assaults, but Reyna had clearly learned from our previous encounter. The marionettes ceased their direct electrical attacks, switching to pure physical strikes. Their electrified fists aimed for my vital points with deadly precision. I blocked, dodged, and countered, but their sheer number and speed were overwhelming. One slipped past my defense and struck my solar plexus with a solid blow, knocking the wind from my lungs. Another connected with my jaw – a sharp, sudden impact that sent me staggering backward, my vision blurring at the edges. Reyna observed from her stance, her smile widening. "Not so arrogant now, are you?" I spat blood onto the stone platform, the metallic taste flooding my mouth. "Still more attractive than you." Her smile vanished instantly, replaced by a colder, sharper, more lethal expression. "Get him." All six marionettes converged on me at once. Their movements were synchronized, like a finely tuned machine of destruction. Without hesitation, I activated Steel Body, feeling my skin harden to an incredible density. For a brief period, I became impervious. Their fists hammered against my body in a relentless onslaught, but for ten glorious seconds, I was untouchable. I utilized that precious time to destroy three of them with brutal, decisive swings of my bat. Each marionette disintegrated into harmless sparks upon impact, their forms dissipating into the air like fading fireflies. As Steel Body wore off and my skin returned to normal, I was left facing only three opponents and Reyna herself. All things considered, the odds were manageable. However, Julian, having recovered from his prior humiliation, was charging at me from behind, his face contorted with rage. "Satori, six o'clock!" Natalia's voice pierced through the din. I ducked just as Julian's fist passed through the space where my head had been moments before. Unfortunately, this defensive maneuver left me completely exposed to Reyna's follow-up attack – a vicious kick that landed squarely on my ribs with bone-jarring force. Pain erupted in my side like a detonating grenade. I was fairly certain something had fractured – possibly more than one bone. But Kinetic Absorption immediately converted the agony into raw power, my Strength attribute surging by fifteen points in an instant. The pain didn't disappear, but it transformed into fuel rather than an impediment. "Thanks for the boost," I grinned, the coppery taste of blood still in my mouth. Reyna's emerald eyes narrowed in confusion and suspicion. "What are you talking about?" Instead of wasting words on an explanation, I demonstrated. Propelled by my enhanced stats, I moved with astonishing speed, closing the distance between us in a flash. My bat connected with her stomach in a solid, satisfying impact that doubled her over, forcing the air from her lungs. "That's for my ribs," I said cheerfully, watching her gasp for air. Julian attacked furiously from behind, a predictable move, so I spun to confront him directly. I caught his outstretched arm mid-swing and utilized his own considerable momentum against him, redirecting his charge and hurling him bodily into one of Reyna's remaining marionettes. They collided in a spectacular burst of purple and blue sparks as the electrical construct exploded from the impact. "And that's for being a nuisance," I added with a fierce grin.
