My Rich Wife Chapter 1: The Cold-Hearted Su Yan

"Hurry up, babe. My husband is coming back soon!"

Within an opulent villa, a voice without a visible source echoed, pressing the person inside the bedroom, while Qin Yu lingered outside the entrance.

That voice rang a bell for him; it belonged to his spouse, Su Yan.

"He's nothing but a worthless loser. Who cares if he returns? Even if he spots us, I'll make sure he swallows his pride!" A rough-voiced man sneered.

Positioned at the doorway, Qin Yu shook with intense fury.

The seething rage almost pushed him over the edge.

Bang!

As his fury surged, he slammed the door wide open with a kick.

Inside, a pair of tangled figures appeared, their attire in total disarray.

Staring daggers at Su Yan, who lounged on the bed and clung to the guy beside her, Qin Yu overflowed with wrath. Unstoppable tears streamed down his face.

"Su Yan, why would you do this to me?" Qin Yu demanded through clenched teeth, his eyes twisting in deep pain.

Su Yan showed a brief flicker of alarm, but she quickly composed herself.

Then, she adopted a cold, indifferent expression.

"Now that you've discovered it, there's no point in concealing it any longer," Su Yan declared.

"Why treat me this way? For three years, I've endured a wretched existence in the Su family! I followed your every command without question — I'd stay put if you told me to sit! So why betray me like this?" Qin Yu roared, his face soaked with tears.

Su Yan mocked him, "No woman wants a gutless failure with no achievements, like you."

With those words, she glanced over at the muscular man at her side.

"Do you realize who he is? This is Zhao Gang, the young master of the Zhao family! Truth be told, I've been cheating on you with him for ages. If not for grandpa's insistence, I'd have divorced you and thrown you out on the first day!" Su Yan continued mockingly.

At that revelation, tears poured freely down Qin Yu's cheeks.

"All this time, I've lived in constant dread, terrified of displeasing you.

"I'd rise in the dead of night to cook you a warm dish whenever hunger struck; I'd speed on my bike to South City just to fetch your beloved blooms.

"I—"

"Stop it!" Su Yan cut in irritably.

Such sincere and moving memories failed to stir the emotions of a callous woman like her.

"You believe these small gestures count for anything? Without my grandpa forcing this marriage, would I ever look at a no-good slacker like you? Stay in your lane, coward!" Su Yan jeered.

"You could stand to learn from Zhao Gang!" Su Yan said, gesturing toward the man nearby.

"He's built a fortune close to 100 million so young! He's sealing agreements with the Yan family out of Jindu! Do you grasp the significance? Have you any clue about the might of Jingdu's elite? A single utterance from them could propel us to new heights of wealth!" Su Yan exclaimed.

"Why bother explaining to him? A fool like this cuckold couldn't possibly understand the Yan family from Jingdu," Zhao Gang ridiculed, eyeing Qin Yu with scorn.

A wry smile crept onto Qin Yu's lips.

True enough, business dealings were beyond his knowledge, yet even he had caught wind of Jingdu's Yan family.

Moreover, their recent exploits dominated Jiangcheng's news outlets, making it unavoidable for Qin Yu.

Fixing his gaze on Su Yan's lovely but emotionless features, Qin Yu silently shed tears.

"For three full years, I've devoted myself to you. Even a dog would earn affection after so long..." Qin Yu murmured, sniffing back sobs.

Su Yan laughed coldly, "You're beneath a dog."

Zhao Gang taunted, "Listen up, idiot. Act smart and pretend you saw nothing today. That way, we all keep living blissfully, and you can go on waiting on your wife.

"But if you stir up trouble, grab your things and scram." Zhao Gang scolded arrogantly, as if he owned the place.

All at once, Qin Yu felt utterly drained.

Back then, Old Mister Su, obsessed with divination, foretold that Qin Yu would bring fortune to the Su clan, leading him to wed his granddaughter to Qin Yu.

Over those three years as a live-in son-in-law, only Old Mister Su respected him; everyone else held him in contempt.

This fueled his deep-seated insecurity, prompting him to bend over backwards for the Su family, anxious not to annoy them.

But his desperate attempts yielded only treachery and letdown.

"I'm truly pathetic, huh?" Qin Yu said self-mockingly, a faint smile tugging at his mouth.

"After these three years, maybe it's time I toughen up?" A spark of malice ignited in Qin Yu's eyes as he locked onto the cheating couple.

"What, can't handle it?" Zhao Gang provoked, spotting Qin Yu's glare. Far from bothered, he wore a mocking grin.

Qin Yu zeroed in on Zhao Gang, fists tightening. Through gritted teeth, he snarled, "You bastard, I'll end you!"

In an instant, Qin Yu lunged at Zhao Gang.

Yet a frail guy like Qin Yu stood no chance against Zhao Gang.

He hadn't even struck when Zhao Gang's kick sent him sprawling.

Agonizing pain in his gut kept him from rising.

"Damn it! You dare strike at me?" Zhao Gang erupted in anger.

Marching over to Qin Yu, Zhao Gang pummeled the defenseless man mercilessly.

Qin Yu sprawled on the chilly floor in hopelessness, absorbing each hit.

"What a miserable existence I've had." Qin Yu shielded his head, his face etched with torment.

"I can't even avenge myself. I... probably shouldn't live anymore..." Qin Yu groaned, his expression vacant.

The unending assault drew blood from his mouth.

"It's fine. Let him go. Wasting your fists on trash like him is beneath you," Su Yan cooed, tugging at Zhao Gang's arm.

Zhao Gang hawked a glob onto Qin Yu's face. Beckoning toward the door with a hooked finger, he warned, "Scram now! Or I'll finish you off!"

Qin Yu hauled himself up with effort and shuffled toward the way out.

His chest burned with loathing for these cheaters, but self-loathing burned hotter for his inability to fight back.

Unwilling to swallow the shame and depart empty-handed, Qin Yu paused.

"Su Yan, mark my words—you'll rue this day," Qin Yu vowed, whirling to face her.

Jabbing a finger at Qin Yu, Zhao Gang yelled, "Get out! Did you hear me?"

Brushing away the blood from his mouth, Qin Yu limped from the Su Residence.

Nearing the front gate, he ran into his mother-in-law, Sun Yumei, returning home.

Spotting the Mercedes Benz at the entrance, Sun Yumei pieced together what happened.

"Mother..." Qin Yu called out, voice laced with bitterness.

Sun Yumei shot him a blank stare.

Irritably flicking her hand, she snapped, "Since you know now, you know your next move! Frankly, we've all decided to boot you from the family!"

That news plunged him deeper into sorrow.

"Grandpa agreed too?" Qin Yu inquired.

Sun Yumei shot back, "His views don't count! The Zhao family has inked pacts with Jingdu's Yan family! Hitching to the Yan family's coattails will launch us into the upper echelons!

"This is about our business's grand expansion. Why would an old timer like him get a vote?" Sun Yumei added.

"And his nonsense about good fortune—it's all outdated folklore and silly myths."

Qin Yu stayed quiet throughout.

The Su family's cruelty left him utterly broken.

After cleaning his mouth, he walked out of the Su Residence.

The bodily agony combined with emotional trauma overwhelmed him.

Right then, he collapsed unconscious on the roadside pavement.

Suddenly, a Maybach bearing a Jingdu plate pulled up beside Qin Yu.

The window rolled down, revealing a graceful long-haired woman furrowing her brow at the prone Qin Yu.

"Is this the man Grandpa promised me to?" The lady blinked, examining Qin Yu closely.

Disgust filled her eyes as she regarded the messy, out-cold Qin Yu.

"Miss, maybe... you've got the wrong guy? Old Mister Yan wouldn't pair you with some ordinary slob like this, right?" The bodyguard-suited man in the vehicle questioned, brow creased.

Yan Ruoxue said nothing. With a signal, she commanded, "Load him in the vehicle."

"Understood, Miss." Her guards stepped out and promptly lifted Qin Yu into the car.

Her frown deepened as she studied the disheveled figure.

"Grandpa, are you serious about me wedding this loser?" Yan Ruoxue sighed wearily, recalling her grandfather's words before departure.

"Ruoxue, our clan owes him greatly! Without Qin Yu's dad, we'd never have risen so high!

"His father bequeathed a token and asked me to deliver it when he hits thirty.

"Mr. Qin was a legendary figure. I'm sure his boy will prove exceptional too. Heed me, Ruoxue—you must treat Qin Yu well."

Her grandfather's pleas echoed in her thoughts. Resignation shadowed her stunning visage.

"If he's a hidden gem with real promise, I'll honor Grandpa's wish," Yan Ruoxue whispered to herself.

"But if he's merely a dead-end nobody, I won't comply." Yan Ruoxue let out a heavy breath.

She traced her fingers over the blue-green jade amulet, the relic Grandpa tasked her to give Qin Yu.

Yan Ruoxue carefully hung the pendant on Qin Yu's neck and averted her gaze.

"Now, our family has honored the vow by returning his heirloom," Yan Ruoxue reflected inwardly.

Yet she overlooked how the blood-flecked pendant glowed upon contacting Qin Yu's flesh, vanishing into him in a flash.
