Li Buren refines a successful Dao Pill, initially intending to consume it but ultimately bestowing it upon his creations. He then experiments with incorporating the Celestial Spirit Ink Death into the pills, leading to a phenomenon he dubs 'Dao Transformation' where the recipients are restored to their original created forms, their Ink Death power expended.

"Ink Death possesses the ability of Dao Annihilate because it imitates the power of mountains and seas merging into one."

"And this current state of Dao Transformation..."

Li Buren summoned one of the purple Dao Transformation statues before him and carefully examined it.

"It is merely a collision between mountains and seas. The process of merging, however, was interrupted prematurely."

"Mountains and seas playing together..." Li Buren immediately recalled a line from the Fable of Mountains and Seas.

"And thus, the Dao is born. So that is how it works?"

Li Buren slowly swallowed all the purple statues, comprehending the Dao principles contained within these living beings. After feeding the poison pills to powerful beings and using their lives and intelligence to complete a transformation, Li Buren was certain that these purple Dao Transformation statues no longer fell within the category of [Dao Pills]. Thus, they could be consumed directly.

Although something extremely important seemed to have been lost during the Dao Transformation process, the ability to greatly increase the efficiency of comprehending the Dao without any risk was undoubtedly worth it.

"Aside from assisting in Dao comprehension, these poison pills are formidable offensive divine abilities in their own right."

"Their essence lies in using the methods of the Dao Refining Medicine King Scripture to directly merge the power represented by the Ink Death Celestial Spirit with the enemy. They deliver a direct, fatal blow at the foundational level of the Great Dao..."

"Truly impossible to guard against!"

Besides being able to kill invisibly like a poison, their greatest advantage was that they could disregard differences in strength. As long as the opponent could not escape Dao Annihilation and could not completely avoid the power of the Ink Death Celestial Spirit, they would be affected by the poison pill's methods.

The only difference lay in the severity of the poisoning.

Li Buren began experimenting on the Nameless True Immortals sealed within the Archaic Immortal Realm.

Although he had promised to release them, that did not prevent him from making use of them before then.

The invisible, formless Dao Refining Pill Flame enveloped the Celestial Pillars.

The power of the Ink Death Celestial Spirit silently seeped into them.

The resulting changes varied according to the strength of each individual.

Situ Xing suffered the worst fate.

He was not the original body of a Nameless True Immortal to begin with. Under the invasion of Ink Death, he possessed virtually no power to resist. The gray Celestial Pillar gradually turned purple from top to bottom, while a strange streak of black emerged within it.

Before these purple-black colors could completely engulf the Celestial Pillar, Li Fan withdrew his divine ability in time. This was the only reason Situ Xing survived. Even so, only a wisp of consciousness remained, struggling to cling to life.

Holding the Dao-Transformed Celestial Pillar in his hand, Li Fan separated its transformed portion from the normal part of the pillar without much effort. He then swallowed it directly.

Compared with slowly comprehending the Dao himself, this direct method of devouring was indeed far more efficient.

One moment spent refining a pill surpassed a hundred years of painstaking cultivation.

'Truly an unparalleled wondrous technique!' Li Buren praised inwardly.

However, not every Nameless True Immortal was as utterly defenseless as Situ Xing.

The Hunger Immortal was particularly noteworthy.

Even while sealed, she could contend with the Ink Death Celestial Spirit on equal terms. Although she was destined to lose in the long run, the fact that she could hold her ground for the time being already demonstrated just how extraordinary she was.

Li Buren chipped off a small portion of the purple, Dao-Transformed material from the Hungry Immortal's Celestial Pillar and swallowed it.

A moment later, he narrowed his eyes slightly.

"Just as I thought. The Dao of Hunger originates beyond the [Yuanchu] possibility."

"Or rather, it is not entirely a Dao of [Yuanchu]. It is the product of a certain Great Dao merging with an external Dao."

Within the complete catalogue of Great Daos that Li Fan had glimpsed while receiving the Dao Transmission, he had not seen a manifestation of the Dao of Hunger. However, he had encountered something similar, yet not quite the same. He surmised that this was one of the original forms of the Dao of Hunger.

Just like the Dao Sword and Dao Saber, Great Daos originating beyond the possibilities possessed a far greater ability to supplement the Myriad Aspects Dao Net than native Great Daos. Perhaps because they opened up entirely new branches of possibility for the Dao, the Myriad Aspects Dao Net began developing a vast new region of previously nonexistent space at an almost visible speed. Although this region had yet to be completely filled, its eventual scale could already be estimated.

Faced with such an extraordinary spiritual tonic, even Li Buren found it difficult to resist the urge to continue refining the Hunger Immortal, disregarding his promise to Inherit Dao.

After thinking it over, however, he restrained himself.

"I can wait until my next life to refine the Hunger Immortal. In any case, she will remain within the Immortal Ruins."

"I still have matters in this life for which I need to rely on Inherit Dao."

"There is no need to rush."

Among the sealed Celestial Pillars, the one that surprised Li Buren the most was the [Primordial Origin] Bone. Under the assault of the purple-black power of Ink Death, it was steadily losing ground. It performed even worse than Situ Xing, whose original body had perished while his clone survived.

It was simply unworthy of the immensely weighty title of [Primordial Origin].

After some investigation, Li Buren discovered the reason behind this strange phenomenon.

"Therefore, what is present here is not the complete Primordial Origin Bone. One could even say that it is only an extremely tiny fragment of [Primordial Origin]."

"The vast majority of the rest is somewhere else."

Li Buren could even sense wisps of Ink Death's power tracing their way elsewhere along the connection between entities that both belonged to [Primordial Origin].

"Southern Immortal Celestial Pillar." Li Buren recalled the true name of the Primordial Origin Bone and shook his head slightly.

"I can only wish the living beings over there beneath Heaven's protection good luck."

...

Li Fan had not gone so far as to destroy everything completely. Although most of the Celestial Pillars had undergone Dao Transformation, they at least retained their original appearance as pillars. The Nameless True Immortals sealed within them had also survived. They had merely suffered severe damage to their vitality, and restoring it would require millions of years of nourishment.

Everything Li Buren comprehended was transmitted back to his true self, Li Fan.

However, he did not reveal any of this before Inherit Dao. Instead, he concealed his abilities and continued maintaining the image of a diligent, inquisitive junior fellow disciple.

...

Three full years later, Benevolent Transmuter finally brought back news.

"That Stargazer is extremely cautious in his actions. It was only after I showed him the Dao Net, which had been restored to its original state, and confirmed that Senior had not come knocking at our door that he finally agreed to cooperate with me."

"We also noticed that, recently, someone seems to have been repeatedly attempting to approach and investigate the outskirts of the Shuo Star Sea. Fortunately, we repaired the Dao Net quickly. Otherwise, we might have exposed a flaw." Chaos stood to one side, feeling fortunate that they had acted in time.

"Even so, Stargazer refused to disclose his entire plan. He merely told us to 'follow orders and adapt to changing circumstances.' Hmph..." A glint of ruthlessness flashed through Benevolent Transmuter's eyes.

"Be patient. Do not reveal any flaws." Li Fan spoke indifferently, and Benevolent Transmuter immediately reined himself in.

"You two should follow their instructions in every respect. My senior brother and I will remain in the Archaic Immortal Realm, waiting for them to come knocking." Li Fan looked at Inherit Dao and smiled.

"Senior Brother, would you care to accompany me elsewhere?"

The gaunt old man moved his seemingly stiff body a little. "As it happens, I have not been outside for quite a few years either. I am getting rather restless. It would be nice to stay somewhere else for a while."

As he spoke, blue light emerged around Inherit Dao's body. His illusory clone took his place, sitting cross-legged in the deepest part of the Dao Net.

Li Fan carefully examined his surroundings and discovered that not a single Dao String throughout the entire Dao Net had bent or shifted because of this exchange between Inherit Dao's true body and his clone.

He could not help exclaiming in admiration, "Senior Brother, your Dao-Bearing Phantom Shadow Technique is almost indistinguishable from Master's own methods! It seems that your transcendence is just around the corner!"

Inherit Dao rose to his feet and stroked his beard, laughing heartily. His pride was impossible to conceal. Nevertheless, he remained modest in his words. "You flatter me, you flatter me. I am still far behind Master. At most, this phantom shadow can take my place in maintaining the Dao for a hundred years. It will not work if I leave it there any longer."

"With Senior Brother's talent, it will not be long before you can maintain the Dao for eternity," Li Fan said with a cheerful smile.

Chaos and Benevolent Transmuter had grown accustomed to Li Fan's almost blind tendency to heap praise upon his senior brother. They simply lowered their eyes and focused on themselves, pretending they had heard nothing.

"Senior Brother, this way, please."

Li Fan took Inherit Dao with him and settled down in the Archaic Immortal Realm.

All that remained was to wait for the people of the Guangwu Star Sea to take the bait.

After another ten days or so, Benevolent Transmuter finally met with Stargazer once more.

As before, Stargazer was attached to the body of that black cat.

"Fellow Daoist, you are being far too cautious. We have lost so many companions, yet we are not acting as cautiously as you are," Benevolent Transmuter said, his tone displeased.

Stargazer also began complaining. "Brother Benevolent Transmuter, do not bring that up. I had no choice either. After losing that supreme treasure last time, I nearly had my skin peeled off, my bones extracted, and myself sealed inside a Celestial Pillar. Fortunately, at the last moment, I recalled the details of how that thief had subdued the treasure. That was what earned me a chance to redeem myself through meritorious service."

"But this is my final chance. If the operation fails again, I am afraid you will never see me again, Brother."

Benevolent Transmuter seemed deeply sympathetic. He gently stroked the cat's head. "You have truly suffered, Brother. If things really become impossible, you can always flee to our Shuo Star Sea. At the very least..."

"Heh." Stargazer awkwardly interrupted him.

"All right, let us discuss business. Actually, I am not the one directing this operation either. My only responsibility is to relay messages and maintain communication."

"Oh?" Benevolent Transmuter's hand stopped stroking the black cat. "How are we supposed to assist?"

Stargazer fell silent for a while, seemingly listening to instructions from the other side.

Only after a long time did his voice slowly emerge again.

"There is a coffin. Sealed inside it is a sleeping Nameless True Immortal. All you need to do is receive the coffin and then do everything in your power to bring it into the Archaic Immortal Realm."

Benevolent Transmuter waited for him to continue, but Stargazer seemed to have finished speaking. He fell silent.

"That's it?" Benevolent Transmuter asked, somewhat dissatisfied.

"After going through so much trouble, is that all the preparation you have made? What can a sleeping Nameless True Immortal accomplish on its own? You have seen the strength of that Hidden Emperor yourself."

Stargazer reassured him. "Brother, you can rest assured. I have even wagered my own life on this. How could I possibly treat this matter carelessly? With this sleeping Nameless True Immortal taking action, even if that so-called Hidden Emperor possesses the most extraordinary divine abilities, he will not be able to turn the heavens upside down!"

"This time, we will make him repay everything, principal and interest included."

Benevolent Transmuter pondered for a moment before finally agreeing.

After cutting off contact with Stargazer, and before heading to the agreed location to retrieve the sleeping Nameless True Immortal inside the coffin, he informed Li Fan of the entire situation in detail.

"There's no problem. Just as he said, bring the coffin here."

Only after hearing Li Fan's reply did Benevolent Transmuter finally breathe a sigh of relief.

He then headed toward the outskirts of the Shuo Star Sea to search for the target.

Within the Archaic Immortal Realm.

Li Fan and Inherit Dao sat facing each other, with a single stick of incense burning between them. Wisps of smoke drifted upward, rising and dispersing into formless shapes.

"Senior Brother, do you have any idea who the Nameless True Immortal sleeping inside this coffin might be?"

"Perhaps an immortal who came from the Other Shore."

After a moment of silence, Inherit Dao slowly replied, his tone somewhat grave.
