My Longevity Simulation Chapter 1142: The Derivation Law Never Rests

Previously on My Longevity Simulation...
Li Fan, guided by Sun Luyuan and an avatar of flowing characters, entered the Guardian Hall's dome through a road that probed his soul memories, where he fabricated Sun Ang's past to pass the first trial. In the starlight chamber, he navigated subsequent tests: traversing the Xuanhuang Realm's light cluster without disturbance to affirm his native origins, standing unmoved among the Five Elders' statues to prove no ties to their association, and enduring the isolating void of the Flowing Gap Left by Time. Though time stretched endlessly in nothingness, stirring faint impatience, Li Fan maintained his sanity, earning praise from Elder Nangong for his mental fortitude essential for guarding the Derivative Law Jade.

Elder Nangong appeared briefly taken aback by Li Fan's inquiry, as though it caught him completely by surprise. Following a short moment of silence, his eyes deepened into a grave intensity.

"If a person like that really exists," he replied deliberately, "that's exactly why we must keep him far away from the Derivation Law Jade."

"Enduring solitude for hundreds of years while maintaining steady emotions throughout, without any shift... someone like that has to be either insane or possess a wildly extreme disposition."

Li Fan cut in, "I've learned that supreme talents in closed-door cultivation can focus for a century straight without wavering. If isolation doesn't rattle them, isn't that perfectly ordinary?"

Elder Nangong let out a soft laugh and shook his head firmly. "Genius cultivators of that caliber wouldn't show up here at all, except if they're hiding some shady agenda."

Li Fan found himself at a loss for words for a second.

Standing nearby, Sun Luyuan's face grew a touch uneasy as well.

"Let's drop it," Elder Nangong stated. "Greetings to the Hall of Guardians. Now, I'll go over some key points that demand extra care. On top of the Immortal Alliance's numerous rules, you'll need to follow specific safeguards when handling the Derivation Law Jade."

"Brother Sun, you're free to go. Your assignment ends here."

This was the exact instant Sun Luyuan had eagerly awaited. Heaving a gentle breath of ease, he shared a bit more guidance with Li Fan before departing.

For almost thirty minutes, Elder Nangong kept talking at a steady pace, covering everything in thorough detail. Afterward, he led Li Fan soaring out of the dimensional room.

They finished the official onboarding steps, and Li Fan obtained the usual supplies for a Hall of Guardians Elder.

Donning the signature black-and-gold outfit of the Hall, he trailed Elder Nangong to the dome's core, toward the most radiant star-like glow hovering there.

"Once I guide you in for the last transfer, my role will be fully done," Elder Nangong remarked with a real grin of liberation.

"Oh, and one final tip," he continued. "You'll share guard duty with others—not just you alone. There are two more Elders. Avoid sending messages or chatting with them unless it's utterly essential."

"The area holding the Derivation Law Jade captures every bit of voice transmission activity. Official inspectors review those logs on a regular basis."

Elder Nangong delivered this caution through a hidden sound method, his face utterly neutral, like the advice hadn't originated from him at all.

Li Fan clasped his hands in gratitude.

Parting ways with Elder Nangong, he dove into the glowing white spot.

A sight he knew all too well unfolded before him—the domain containing the Derivation Law Jade.

A gigantic orb made up of endless rune symbols drifted in the emptiness.

At every second, the runes swirled ceaselessly, morphing without stop.

From time to time, the whole rune orb would halt briefly, release a burst of radiance, and disappear, just to reform and resume its perpetual flow of change and computation.

Under the enormous orb, a table hovered silently in the void.

A young girl who looked about five or six years old sprawled idly across it, her tiny frame lounging on the surface.

She gazed at the symbols popping up nonstop on the desk, seeming utterly bored and uninterested—just like in every previous encounter he'd had with her.

Detecting a fresh arrival, Derivation Law Jade raised her head a little.

Spotting Li Fan's serious expression and the black-and-gold robe draped over him, she pouted briefly, then dropped her gaze back down.

"Ugh, another ugly face," she grumbled quietly to herself.

Li Fan paused, his features tightening just a bit.

"Heh, you'll grow accustomed to it soon enough," an aged voice sounded from nearby.

It belonged to one of the other Dao Integration Elders posted here, who had concealed himself in the area.

"Zhang Xu," the elder introduced curtly, before going quiet again.

The remaining fellow guardian never bothered to acknowledge Li Fan at all.

Li Fan brushed it off and headed to his assigned "station."

This so-called "station" was in fact a unique spot in the realm.

It acted like a vital junction in an array. Positioning oneself there provided an elevated view, letting one sense all nearby energy shifts with crystal clarity.

Guarding the Derivation Law Jade involved spending most hours right at this exact location.

"This setup is even harsher than lockup. It's no surprise the Sun Family's Dao Integration experts all dreaded assignment here."

Reaching his spot, Li Fan couldn't hold back a quiet sigh.

He acted like he was scanning the area to get acquainted with it. Actually, he was probing discreetly for any flaws in the monitoring setup.

Apart from the ever-changing glows and shadows from the vast rune sphere, the environment stayed utterly still— so still it bordered on oppressive.

In no time at all, Li Fan drew a blank on how to reach out to Derivation Law Jade without detection or how to slip past the barriers.

And so, roughly half a year slipped by unnoticed.

The girl, who had been hunched over the table, abruptly sat up straight, threw her arms up, and shouted with glee, "Yay! Break time at last!"

With that, she promptly collapsed back and started dozing off with faint snores.

"Six hours."

Right then, Elder Zhang Xu and the other Dao Integration watcher uttered the words in unison.

Six hours—this marked the infrequent downtime allowed for Derivation Law Jade.

When it ended, she needed waking right on cue.

Watching Derivation Law Jade slumber so deeply, Li Fan inwardly let out a soft lament. "This treatment feels a tad cruel. At minimum, she ought to get twelve hours of rest."

Over the six months of his watch here, curiously, no one had stepped into this realm via a Derivative Jade Token.

As a result, Derivation Law Jade barely ever got a moment to ease up.

After mulling it over, Li Fan decided to raise his question with Elder Zhang Xu, as it aligned with his responsibilities.

Zhang Xu stayed quiet briefly before answering, "Three years back, a Five Elders Association infiltrator managed to snag a Derivative Jade Token and sneak in with malicious plans. We caught and halted him promptly, averting serious damage, but the event still shook the Ten Thousand Immortal Alliance's leadership."

"Pending a full probe into that breach, every use of Derivative Tokens has been halted entirely."

"Resumption might not happen for a few more years."

Zhang Xu offered just those sparse lines and then clammed up once more.

Li Fan, on the other hand, sank into contemplation. "Derivative Jade Tokens count as invaluable treasures, granted by the Immortal Alliance to those who've provided outstanding contributions."

"Yet one ended up with the Five Elders Association. And from Nangong's earlier caution, such Five Elders Association agents slipping into the Alliance aren't uncommon. They pop up every few decades or so."

"In straight-up battles, the Five Elders Association can't rival the Ten Thousand Immortal Alliance. But in plots and sneaky tactics, the Alliance lags far behind."

Through the miraculous prowess of the Tianxuan Mirror's origin force, Li Fan already grasped the general whereabouts of the lost Derivative Jade Tokens.

"Being one of the three on-site protectors puts me under tight watch, making straightforward moves tough."

"Maybe an indirect path would work—employ a Derivative Jade Token to arrange a secluded encounter with Derivation Law Jade."

Li Fan mulled over the idea in silence.

Twelve hours elapsed quickly.

Yet...

Derivation Law Jade remained sprawled across the long table, deep in sleep, with no hint of stirring.

From the pair of other Dao Integration watchers, Li Fan picked up a subtle air of resignation.

"Brother Sun, you're up."

Elder Zhang Xu transmitted the words with a lighthearted vibe.
