My Longevity Simulation Chapter 1108: Alien Star Falls into Xuanhuang
Previously on My Longevity Simulation...
Even though the Xuanhuang Realm had expanded enormously compared to typical cultivation worlds over millennia of drawing in and consuming others, Li Fan simply couldn't fathom where a power strong enough to make the Ten Thousand Immortal Alliance fear it so deeply might conceal itself if it lingered on.
During the Tianxuan Mirror's ascension and evolution back then, it had meticulously examined the whole Xuanhuang Realm. It not only charted details on almost every connected Cave-Heaven and minor realm but also delved into the world cracks buried deep in the white fog, covering them nearly entirely.
"Perhaps it's tucked away in some unique concealed area like the Dark Realm."
"It truly deserves its reputation as the sole remaining haven for Darkest Star Sea cultivators; powerhouses could pop up out of nowhere at any moment."
"Yet since they didn't make it through the ultimate disaster in the Xuanhuang Realm, their power has bounds, no matter their might."
With this evaluation complete, Li Fan experienced a touch of relief.
"On that note, the Ten Thousand Immortal Alliance's abrupt emergence from the Cultivation Wasteland strikes me as oddly questionable upon second thought."
Following the massive catastrophe in the Xuanhuang Realm, cultivators plunged into a time of distrust and massacre, a grim epoch. In the end, society crumbled, leaving no groups intact across the land. Only solitary nomads, wary as savage animals and brimming with murderous vibes, endured: what was known as the Cultivation Wasteland.
Every available record today about subsequent events in the Xuanhuang Realm aligns closely. The long-lost Dharma-Transmitting Immortal Ancestor reappeared and restored society atop the devastated terrain.
So the puzzle emerges. Be it from the [Era] vision witnessed in the Museum of Divine Treasure, or the past shards uncovered by [Seeking the Hidden] amid the crimson river of the Spiritwood Realm, portrayals of the era's cultivators boil down to the phrase "fierce and brutal."Those who endured the massive brawl obviously boasted superior mindsets, techniques, and power, that's a given. For folks like that, confronted by the Immortal Ancestor's abrupt arrival declaring unity over the Xuanhuang Realm, how would they respond?
And what became of them? Traces of such figures appear absent from both the Ten Thousand Immortal Alliance and the Five Elders Association.
"I recall the Ten Thousand Law Chamber of Commerce in Nine Mountains Prefecture traces back to that time. Sadly, it's been leveled flat now; if not, I could have sought out some pertinent details there."
Li Fan jotted this as a note, saving it for handling in his upcoming life. His focus then shifted back to the "True Immortal Remnant Body."
Upon Li Fan's alert, the Ten Thousand Immortal Alliance ramped up its wariness considerably. For the Spirits of Heaven and Earth that surfaced, they chose group captures outright. Their eventual distribution was prearranged, all aimed at rapidly absorbing these "baits" safely and turning them into personal fighting power.
With the Ten Thousand Immortal Alliance's formal involvement, the chaos sparked by the Spirit of Heaven and Earth manifestations was soon subdued.
Regarding the True Immortal remnant body, the Ten Thousand Immortal Alliance adopted utmost wariness. They chased it doggedly but banned cultivators from clashing fatally over it. Ultimately, whoever claimed it would hinge on sheer luck.
Simultaneously, to hasten the storm's end, those Dharma-Transmitters who usually shunned mortal concerns took the rare step of sending out several members. Evidently, post the Mo Rubin affair, their approach had shifted.
Now that the Ten Thousand Immortal Alliance entered the fray, Li Fan noticed it grew far tougher to guide the black puppet in its dog-walking scheme. The Alliance's grip on its domains stayed impressively firm.
The puppet bearing the True Immortal remnant body got spotted shortly after each reveal, demanding yet another move. As shifts multiplied, the black puppet's flaw of enduring short fights only stood out starkly.
Luckily, Li Fan had tasked Qiaogong and crew to hastily build extra puppets for rotation, just managing to keep the True Immortal remains slippery and phantom-like.
Still, Li Fan vaguely picked up that the Ten Thousand Immortal Alliance had caught on to the True Immortal remnant body's shift via dark power. Detection times shrank progressively.
“Looks like this ploy won't hold out much longer.”
“No issue though; I've already hit my target. Now, I just wait for the grand finale, to shock the Xuanhuang Realm's inhabitants."
After reviewing his setup's details, Li Fan showed a gentle grin.
“Young friend, why go through all this trouble?”
Three dim silhouettes abruptly appeared, boxing Li Fan in from both sides. Sorrow carved their features, their skins pale and shriveled. They gazed intently at Li Fan in silence, only letting out heavy sighs.
These were the awakened paper figures from the Book of Du'e.
Since Li Fan started scheming for apocalyptic ruin, despite handling everything via clones and puppets, the Du'e Sect's paper figures somehow detected the looming doom. Beginning with one, two others roused one after another.
Furthermore, they could dimly sense the ruinous intent in Li Fan's thoughts. Each time Li Fan ran simulations or plotted future paths, these beings would doggedly circle him with pleas.
Li Fan naturally brushed them off, keeping a frosty demeanor.
When the three Du'e Sect paper figures saw their appeals fell flat, they ceased trying. Rather, they donned grieving looks and stuck close to Li Fan.
Initially, Li Fan figured this was just helpless frustration. But soon he realized that encircling by these woebegone paper figures spread their feelings to him. Whatever filled his mind earlier—be it fiery zeal or the wildest ideas—slowly drained into total gloom and total void.
Without the [Xuanhuang Immortal Heart Mantra]'s safeguard, Li Fan might have genuinely been influenced and changed by them.
The Du'e Sect paper figures grasped only the broad picture. As for Li Fan's exact steps in this span, they couldn't spy from afar. Li Fan also held back from showing he remained untouched. Instead, he played along completely in this pretense with them.
The dour look on his face eased away, giving way to a deep void where nothing mattered. His thoughts cleared out bit by bit, no longer fixating on ruin-prep matters.
The three Du'e Sect paper figures' forms shifted too. Instead of slipping back into the Book of Du'e right away, they morphed into dignified likenesses of grave elderly scholars. They perched straight and formal, gravely narrating to Li Fan the array of disasters the Xuanhuang Realm had weathered before.
Their titles evoked strong images too. Each drew from one of those bygone catastrophes.
For example, one went by [Starfall]. This nodded to the incident, prior to the Immortal Path's break, when a foreign star crashed from the void into the Xuanhuang Realm. The force radiating from that foreign star had momentarily jammed spiritual power's function for every cultivator in the Xuanhuang Realm. No matter the level, all strengths had nosedived sharply.
