My Living Shadow System Devours To Make Me Stronger Chapter 1248 - 1249: Fate [9]
Previously on My Living Shadow System Devours To Make Me Stronger...
The wall of snow filled the entire battlefield in a blizzard. This was no doubt a testament to the power of the one casting such a will over the battlefield.
Matia, or Ruin Fairy as she liked to call herself, was a silent woman who always remained by Damon’s side. Sometimes she remained in his shadow, so completely hidden that it was even doubtful if she was there.
Originally, she had been a young girl from the Frost Continent who was forced to cross-dress as her late twin, timid and scared to use her own talents. However, she had disappeared into the darkness of Lysithara along with Damon and his friends, and when she returned, she was powerful, aloof, and a weapon of absolute violence.
Like most of Damon’s party, she also wore Ascendant Armor, one that seemed to have been shattered and held together by ice. Perhaps it symbolized the breaking and reforging of who she was.
What is broken does not need to fear breaking again. What is broken is stronger than that which is whole.
She had certainly proven her power.
Abellona was glad Damon had left Matia behind to protect her from any danger. After this, it was going to be a hard battle since there were two old monsters at the Seventh Class, even if they were already half a foot in their graves and their lives were coming to an end.
Taking them down would be fulfilling, but Abellona was no weakling. She was Abellona of Destruction. There was a reason she was called that, and she intended to win.
Her three siblings glanced at her before looking back at Matia.
"You seem awfully close with that Damon Grey, so much so that he’d lend you his precious knight."
"What can I say, dear sister? I’m a popular woman," Abellona said coldly, the corner of her lips lifting slightly.
"Slut," the First Princess whispered.
The two old men rushed toward Matia, a sonic boom erupting behind their simple movements, while the rest rushed toward Abellona. However, Matia merely touched her chest, and snow gathered around her body before forming a phantom in her exact shape, carrying her aura.
The second Matia immediately shot toward Abellona while the real Matia turned into snowflakes, her body scattering into the blizzard before she suddenly reappeared above the two old men and slammed her sword down.
A gigantic cleave carved a rift through the air, and the snow for miles around was scattered by the force of her attack. The entire region began turning into a frozen wasteland from the sheer impact of her power.
The first old man twisted his body and narrowly weaved out of the way while the second raised his hand, and a teapot-shaped magical artifact appeared in front of him to block the sword.
There was a deafening ring in the air as the sword collided with the artifact, and cracks immediately spread across its surface before it shattered.
There were no words to describe the visceral terror that appeared on the old man’s face when Matia’s sword continued through the broken artifact and cleaved him straight down the middle.
"Ahhh!"
He screamed as his physical body was destroyed, his soul screaming as it escaped from his ruined body covered in frost.
However, as soon as it appeared, the cold snow began to seep into his soul, and his expression twisted as he desperately tried to escape.
"Ahhh!"
His soul slowly turned to ice before shattering completely.
Exposing his soul to Matia had been his biggest mistake.
The second old man didn’t even have time to react. He looked around and saw Abellona and the other Matia making quick work of those in the Sixth Class Advancement.
At the corner of the battlefield, a shadow moved through the frost while shooting arrows from within the snow, each arrow finding its target and killing them before they could even react.
Suddenly, the old man felt cold.
So cold.
So alone.
He slowly raised his head and saw the towering form of a knight covered in snow. There was no sun in this world anymore, only winter and the cold visor staring down at him. The sight reminded him of a winter many years ago when he was a child, helpless and powerless, only able to experience the coldness of that winter without being able to resist it.
"Winter Death," he whispered.
His body shattered into a million snowflakes.
These old men were much weaker than normal Seventh Class cultivators. After all, they had little power left within them.
How could they possibly face Matia? They should have run from the moment they saw her. After all, she was a Seventh Class cultivator, a ruler of ice.
Abellona watched the blood sizzle on the tip of her spear as her three siblings, who had surrounded her earlier, were now the ones who found themselves surrounded. She had Matia, who was at the Seventh Class and a powerful Ascendant, and along with Matia, she could sense a few presences moving within the shadows.
Abellona was familiar with one who was called Ghost, a shadow who was Matia’s minion.
The others were shadows too, but they did not seem to be on the same level as him, more like soldiers made of ice and shadows.
They were part of the winter.
Abellona couldn’t help but smile. Damon had actually given her a whole army to protect her.
In her heart, she was glad. After all, it meant that he cared about her and their child. Now all that remained was one last obstacle, and then they would have the ideal life for her child, but more than that, for her.
She looked at the three figures left alive, her own siblings.
Her two older sisters and brother.
"Abellona, what are you planning to do? Let us go. Killing a member of the Imperial family is high treason."
The voice was not as confident as before, and it came from her brother.
"Yes, I know that. But if I don’t kill you myself, how can I strengthen my resolve? How can I push myself forward if I must treasure anything I must destroy?"
Her aura began to flare up, red energy surging around her body as the pressure she released continued to rise. It reached the upper limit of the Sixth Class, and blood began to seep from the corners of her eyes while her hair rose into the air against gravity.
"You are my final obstacles. By killing you, I will cross the threshold."
Her eyes narrowed.
"To the rank beyond."
She raised her spear and thrust it forward, impaling the chest of her older brother.
"You came first, brother. You should go first."
She did not know why she shed a tear when she saw his past as her red aura ripped him apart into strings of blood. Within her mind, she remembered their childhood, before everything had fallen apart, when they had all sat together at the dinner table with their father and his wives.
Suddenly, her brother disappeared from the dinner table, leaving another empty seat.
Abellona grimaced before glancing toward the figure of her father sitting at the head of the table, and she saw a sad expression on his face. Then the next to disappear was her First Sister, leaving her seat empty, followed by her Second Sister.
Abellona slowly turned toward the seat where her younger brother Waton used to sit. It had been empty for a long time now.
She looked at the table and the feast spread across it. Now it was only her and her father. The Emperor’s wives were gone, and even his children had disappeared. The feast that had once filled the table had now become littered with blood and flesh.
Abellona’s hands couldn’t stop shaking, but she knew she had to eat it all.
This was her Seventh Class Advancement.
Abellona of Destruction.
And she did.
She ate every morsel of food covered in blood and organs until everything was gone. Now only the Emperor was left, and he looked weary and tired as he sat alone at the head of the table.
When she wiped her eyes, Abellona looked up and found herself staring at the world around her. She knew it now. She had reached the Seventh Class.
She looked into the sky and could sense a large barrier holding the world closed. She could feel it, something beyond her, as her body reached the limit of what the world could handle. Now even ethereal things seemed no different from the physical world.
[Your fable has ended and your legend has begun. Ascend once more to the realm of the transcendent.]
[You have outgrown your cradle.]
The voice of the Omniverse whispered in her ears, announcing her Seventh Class and telling her there was more beyond it.
"So there really is something beyond. I suppose there is. The Outsiders have to have come from somewhere," she whispered.
Suddenly, a white light spread from the ground, reaching across every part of the world.
With its violent power, Abellona looked at the destruction around her before casually waving her hand. A red wave swept outward and made everything disappear.
Sad, wasn’t it?
Her siblings had been consumed by the war before it even began.
She raised her hand, touching the invisible mana in the air and grabbing it as if it were something solid.
"Do you feel that, Matia?"
Matia, who had been watching her silently, nodded.
"The world is afraid."
Abellona nodded just as she was agreeing with her when a glowing golden light reached into the heavens, and along with it came a figure made of pure shadows.
"Damon," Abellona called out.
She stared at the figure as a faint smile appeared on her face.
"It seems he got his body back."
