Emilia was tending to a magic beast when her sister, Terra, appeared. Terra revealed she had taken Linga Felt, not to hurt Emilia, but to prevent Emilia from being forced to give up her son. Terra confessed her lifelong feelings of inadequacy and jealousy towards Emilia, stemming from their father's perceived favoritism. She stated she knows Godric's secret and has a clue to the source of the destruction, offering to tell Emilia.

Emilia’s hands trembled in her lap. She clasped them together, trying to stop the shaking, but her fingers continued to twitch.

Terra glanced at her before speaking.

"Godric Ravenscroft committed something truly abominable. It turns out he wasn’t as righteous as everyone says. Even he made a mistake, and that one mistake could have led to the bloodiest conflict in the Empire’s history."

Terra leaned closer and lowered her voice, whispering the truth into Emilia’s ear.

The moment she finished, Emilia’s eyes widened.

Her lips parted slightly, but for several seconds, no words came out.

"How could he do something so foolish..."

"That’s not all. There’s more."

Terra brought a hand toward her mouth as she spoke, her voice dropping as though she were sharing some terrible secret.

"Apparently, Damon Grey knows, and strangely enough, he did nothing."

"That’s impossible."

Emilia whispered the words immediately.

She knew Damon very well.

"There’s no way he would be quiet about the death of his parents. The fact that there isn’t already a bloody conflict is strange."

"Not really."

Terra interrupted her.

Her expression remained calm as she revealed the most important part.

"Not long after Linga Felt told Damon Grey, Godric was killed by Amon in the heart of the Ravenscroft estate. Of course, I checked, and Damon has an alibi."

Terra’s eyes narrowed slightly.

"But think about it."

Emilia stared at her.

"You’re saying..."

Her hands began trembling again. She looked down at them for a moment before forcing her fingers to uncurl.

"Yes."

Terra watched her quietly.

"Damon Grey and Amon are connected. They might even be the same person."

She paused before adding,

"As for how this ties into your son, you know more than me."

Emilia listened as Terra explained more and more of what she had discovered.

With every piece of information, Emilia’s expression changed.

Her eyes became increasingly distant as old memories surfaced, one after another, until her legs finally gave out beneath her.

She fell to her knees.

Her hands caught her against the ground, but she barely seemed to notice.

She remembered the day her son was taken.

Xander had seemed calm.

Of course he was calm.

He knew who he was giving her son to.

Emilia’s breathing grew heavier as another memory surfaced.

She remembered how quickly the figure had disappeared, how easily he had stopped her attack and taken her son from her.

Then she remembered Damon.

He had promised that her child would be returned to her when he came to offer his condolences after his fallout with Xander.

"No."

Emilia’s fingers dug into the earth as she slowly lifted her head.

"I have to go to the battlefield."

Her voice was unsteady.

"I have to confirm something."

The memories continued colliding inside her mind.

Xander hated Amon.

But Damon could be Amon.

Xander had made a contract with an unknown party, one she was almost certain was Damon himself, to help him kill Amon.

If Amon was Damon...

Then what had Damon asked for in exchange?

Her son.

Emilia’s body went completely still.

The color slowly drained from her face as the pieces finally fell into place.

Her eyes widened with pale-faced horror.

"Wait, wait."

Terra quickly reached out and caught her sister’s hands before Emilia could leave.

"Think this through, Emilia. Calm yourself."

"Think what through?"

Emilia ripped her hands free, her eyes flashing with anger.

"All this time, my child and I have been at the mercy of these men and their selfish wishes. Our fates have been dancing in their palms without us having any choice. I have been at the mercy of a man my entire life."

Her chest rose and fell heavily as she spoke, years of helplessness finally spilling out with her anger.

Terra looked at her with a calm expression.

"You won’t win. You won’t be happy. You’ll only throw oil into the flames. In the best-case scenario, you still won’t get your son back."

"Maybe you forgot, but Damon Grey isn’t some ordinary man."

Terra’s gaze sharpened.

"This is someone whose whims can move the heavens. His words can collapse nations, and with most of the world’s wealth concentrated in the hands of one man, what can you do?"

Emilia stopped in her tracks.

The words struck her harder than she wanted to admit.

"Who will believe you? He can simply point a finger at you and say you’re crazy from losing your child. He can lie because Damon Grey is a liar. And who will the world side with? A single woman or one of the most powerful men in the world?"

Terra’s voice remained calm, but there was no softness in her words.

Emilia lowered her head.

Indignant tears welled up in her eyes, but she clenched her fists and refused to let them fall.

Even if Damon Grey had publicly taken her son, what could she actually do about it?

Nothing.

There was nothing she could do.

"Even if they believed you, so what? He is more powerful than we previously thought, with armies and the capacity to wage war against the whole world and still hold his own."

Terra stepped closer.

"You won’t get your son back."

Her voice became quieter.

"Against men like Damon Grey, not even the Goddess can give you justice."

When Terra said those words, Emilia slowly turned to look at her.

For a moment, she said nothing.

Then her gaze rose toward the sky.

"God?"

Her lips curved into the faintest smile, though there was no happiness in it.

"Yes. Maybe the Goddess won’t..."

Her eyes remained fixed on the heavens.

"But God would."

Terra’s expression changed slightly.

She didn’t understand what Emilia was talking about.

But Emilia did.

She finally understood exactly what she had to do.

"Let’s go."

She wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes and straightened her back.

"I will expose the truth, and I will get my son back."

Her voice was no longer trembling.

"I refuse to endure this anymore."

As Emilia turned away, she could feel it.

The gentle brush of something against her consciousness.

Something was watching her.

Waiting.

She couldn’t see it.

She couldn’t hear it.

Yet somehow, she knew it was there.

Terra watched her sister walk away, her eyes narrowing as a strange unease settled over her heart.

Then Emilia suddenly stopped.

Terra stared at her back.

A terrible premonition washed over her.
