Damon intervened in the brewing conflict between the Holy Emperor and Baal, leveraging a contract to turn the tide of battle. As the Seventh Class powerhouses from both demon and Goddess races gathered, the battlefield escalated into chaos. Damon, along with Lilith, Sylvia, and Leona, teleported to the Holy City's ruins, where they were met by a surprising contact, Dantalion, to begin their mission to retrieve Damon's body.

"You’re the spy?" Even Renata was somewhat shocked by this. After all, it didn’t make any sense.

Father Dantalion, the Witch Hunter and one of the top members of the Temple, was a spy for the Unknown Order.

Damon was about to say something when he suddenly thought of something from a few years ago. When he had gone to the Snake Temple, he recalled seeing the names of the Demon Lords written there. One of those names had been Dantalion.

He had simply assumed the name was unused since there were so many names written there.

"Dantalion the Deceiver. It seems someone claimed that name."

Ashcroft’s voice echoed in his head.

"He’s a Demon Lord."

The confirmation from Ashcroft made Damon truly look at Dantalion.

He was one of the most feared members of the Temple. He had apparently been with them since his youth, and who would have thought that he was actually a demon? Not just any demon, but a Demon Lord, hiding right under everyone’s noses.

Dantalion was a major contributor to the Temple’s power and influence. He was one of the two people responsible for killing the most demons, and his hatred of demons and anyone who opposed the Temple was well known, along with his cunning.

He seemed to glance at Renata before looking at Damon and nodding his head.

"I don’t think we have much time. Whatever it is that Aetherus is planning has reached its final phase."

"We need to go. Come with me."

He gestured for them to follow him through the ruins of the Holy City.

The city had originally been filled with large towers and towering structures. It was old, yet still vibrant. Now, it was covered in ash, and many of the buildings had collapsed, filling the streets with mountains of rubble.

Most of it had been cleared, but some structures could not be removed. The buildings were gone, yet their foundations remained, leaving behind places where troops could hide.

The troops were moving toward the outer city, but they were being pushed back. Their defensive lines had already been broken, and chaotic maelstroms of destruction occasionally erupted from nowhere, sweeping up the troops fighting on the ground and sending them miles into the air. Most died the moment they were caught.

The maelstroms did not discriminate.

They were simply the aftereffects of the battle between those in the Seventh Class.

Rain made of black fragments of mana, given physical form, descended from the sky as rifts tore through the world. A golden sun flashed across the heavens and illuminated the battlefield, bringing with it an immolating heat that caused the flesh of those caught directly beneath it to melt like wax.

Then a bright moon appeared, bringing night to the region as time itself slowed.

The sky flashed with multiple colors.

Surely, the end had come.

But this wasn’t the end.

It was only the beginning.

This was the power of those in the Seventh Class.

Damon grabbed Luna’s hand and pulled Iris along with his other hand, ducking behind the ruins as a beam of light, miles wide, swept across the area.

It was a stray attack from the battlefield.

"Ahhhhhhh!"

A terrible scream filled the air as a massive explosion erupted, creating a beam that seemed to sunder night and day.

Something slowly fell from the sky.

One of the Seventh Class fighters had fallen.

It had happened that quickly.

A powerhouse was dead, and they hadn’t even met their true enemies yet. They had been killed by their own kind during the chaos of their battle.

Damon gritted his teeth.

This was not good.

The death of even one Seventh Class powerhouse was a tragedy for the world. Just as he was thinking this, he felt something shift.

The mana in the surroundings suddenly became denser.

Everyone around the battlefield felt it.

The world seemed to draw upon the energy of the dead Seventh Class powerhouse before spewing it across everyone nearby.

Even Damon felt the energy reaching him.

His eyes widened in shock.

"So it’s gotten to this point. We really are at our end."

Ashcroft spoke again.

Damon couldn’t help but feel that he was a little more talkative than usual.

Soon, they reached a large intersection surrounded by ruins.

Dantalion glanced at Damon.

"We can’t sneak past here, so we have to fight our way in."

Damon glanced toward the area he was pointing at. He could see members of the Temple’s higher echelon preparing some type of spell formation. A few of them were in the Seventh Class.

"So that’s what it is."

Damon’s eyes narrowed.

"This is their trump card."

He glanced at Leona before smiling.

"They’re all yours."

Leona smiled as she pulled her sword from her waist. Lightning sparked around her body, and then she raised her hand toward the sky.

The booming sound of thunder echoed across the battlefield.

The world was suddenly filled with dark clouds.

From within those clouds came the roar of a great dragon.

Then the world was covered in white light and a destructive symphony of thunder.

Damon raised his hand and covered everyone in shadows.

Leona stepped forward, walking toward the Seventh Class powerhouses who had been thrown into disarray.

In a flash, she closed the distance.

"Come on, let’s go!"

Damon yelled over the deafening noise of their clash.

It was Leona and the Great Dragon against several people in the Seventh Class.

Iris and Luna were starting to regret coming here, but it was a little too late for that.

Damon ran toward the dark hall that led deeper underground, where he assumed Aetherus most likely was.

Knights from the Temple tried to stop them, but Sylvia merely waved her hand, and they dropped like flies.

Damon crossed the threshold.

The moment he did, he felt his own aura.

The connection to his body and his shadow was restored.

But along with it came the deep, terrifying aura of divinity and light given off by Aetherus.

All around them were strange markings that glowed faintly, leading deeper inside
