Ric jumps off a cliff, intending to escape using a stolen teleportation scroll. Ranar grabs onto him, and they are both teleported away just as Damon's shadows try to interfere. Damon, unable to track them beyond the Anarchy Mountains, dispatches shadow drones to find the children. Evangeline and Lilith discover the children are missing and both resolve to assemble search parties.

For Damon, who had spent seven years controlling events from the shadows, this might have been the first time he was genuinely powerless. And that loss of control was probably scaring him more than the disappearance itself.

Ranar was a Fourth-Class prodigy who had never truly faced real danger.

Ric was clever and resourceful, but vastly weaker.

Neither side could immediately reach them.

The barrier had isolated them from every adult who normally protected them.

And Damon was really sweating now. After seven years of maintaining an endless winning streak, perhaps he was finally about to lose.

He stood at the edge of the cliff, his shadow writhing beneath his feet like a living sea. His normally calm expression had long since disappeared, replaced by a rare look of frustration. Beads of sweat rolled down his forehead as his fingers repeatedly tapped against his arm.

"Damn Deathless, you better not be targeting my kids."

In the end, Damon saw Godric as his own. He did not really think of him as Xander’s son anymore. It was probably why, under pressure, he had accidentally referred to Ric as his child instead of his ward.

Damon was not going to allow anything to happen to them.

Worst-case scenario, he would destroy the barrier around the Anarchy Mountains. Of course, there would be plenty of people objecting, but so what? He did not care who had created the barrier or why.

If it kept him from his children, then he would destroy it.

Slowly, he reached into his storage and pulled out the last of Ashcroft’s fragments, clutching them tightly in his hand. The sharp edges bit into his palm, but he barely noticed.

Worst-case scenario, he would absorb them, force his way into the Seventh Class, and bombard the barrier with every spell and skill in his arsenal.

[Path to Conflict]

In the last few years, he had barely increased his stats. There was hardly anyone left worth devouring anymore. They were simply too weak to grant him meaningful points, so Damon had instead spent his time refining his skills, perfecting his spells, and mastering countless arts.

However, he had gained a few new skills.

And those skills had been worth the long wait.

Normally, whenever Damon entered a period where the system granted him several powerful abilities in quick succession, it meant that he was about to experience something truly horrible.

And judging by these skills, he would.

[Recreate in Memory of the Lost]

[Description]

What is lost is never forgotten.

For God remembers.

[Effect:]

That which has vanished may yet return, shaped anew from the memory of what once was.

[Type:]

Divine Skill

[Cooldown:]

Can only be used by a god.

This was the most mysterious skill Damon possessed. He had obtained it after devouring the corpse of one of the lesser gods.

That had been a disaster in itself.

Who would have expected a dead god to suddenly awaken?

It had been unexpected, but Damon had managed to kill and devour it.

And, of course, he soon understood why Lazarak had never bothered killing the lesser gods.

The moment Damon devoured the god, every river in the world dried up and turned to blood.

Only afterward did he discover that the being had been a river god.

Fortunately, Aetherus had awakened and simply assumed the god’s role, restoring the rivers before the world descended into chaos.

Still, Damon had obtained a skill from the encounter.

Unfortunately, it could only be used by a god.

It could recreate the lost.

Apparently.

The other skills were different, but no less terrifying.

At least he could actually use those.

[Malevolent Starfall]

[Description]

When the heavens looked upon the abyss, they saw only darkness.

The abyss looked back and answered with a falling star.

What descends is not light, nor salvation, but ruin clothed in flame.

[Effect:]

Calls forth a crimson star from beyond the heavens, dragging it toward the earth.

Upon impact, the star erupts into a sea of black fire, consuming land, mana, and all life caught within its descent.

Those who survive bear the mark of the fallen star.

The star knows not friend or foe.

[Type:]

Extinction-Rank Skill

[Cooldown:]

Thirty days.

Damon silently prayed that he would never have to use this skill.

Its power was absolute.

Once activated, it could not be weakened, redirected, or restrained. A continent would vanish there was no doubt about that.

His grip around Ashcroft’s fragments tightened as he stared toward the distant barrier, his dark eyes flickering with dangerous thoughts.

If it came down to it, he would use Malevolent Starfall against the barrier itself.

Though he desperately hoped it would not come to that.

Godric and Ranar would be fine.

Godric and Ranar were not fine.
