Qiao Yue arrived at the Qiao manor on a powerful motorcycle, much to the surprise of Qiao Ze and Qiao Jing. Despite her rough appearance, she was led inside to wait. She was soon confronted by Qiao Xin, who insulted her and her mother's past, but Qiao Yue calmly stated she was invited by Qiao Jing and Qiao Ze.

Trouble from One’s Mouth

Upon witnessing Qiao Yue’s smile, Qiao Xin’s irritation intensified. Even if Qiao Yue’s homecoming pleased Grandpa, her own family stood to gain nothing. Knowing her grandfather, he might even divide a larger portion of his assets with Qiao Yue. Qiao Xin refused to be so naive as to share the bounty with more individuals.

Qiao Yue’s expression hardened the moment Qiao Xin uttered a word about her mother.

Noticing the shift in atmosphere, Qiao Ying quickly attempted to mediate. “Fifth brother, please don’t be angry. Qiao Xin simply lacks proper etiquette. Fifth brother, please don’t stoop to her level.”

Qiao Yue responded with a cold sneer, “I wonder if Miss Qiao has ever considered the proverb, ‘trouble arises from the mouth’?”

Qiao Xin, though startled by Qiao Yue’s icy gaze, brazenly retorted, “Are you attempting to intimidate me? Who do you presume to be to threaten me like this?”

Suddenly, an idea sparked in Qiao Xin’s mind, and a smile played on her lips as she declared, “You claim to be a part of the Qiao family. Surely you possess some form of proof, correct? I, on the other hand, have something that can definitively prove you are not a member of the Qiao family.”

As she observed the calculating glint in Qiao Xin’s eyes, Qiao Yue understood that a malicious plan was brewing within her. Yet, fear was a foreign concept to Qiao Yue, who had clawed her way up from adversity.

“Proof is unnecessary. If Old Master Qiao himself declares I am not one of the Qiao family, I shall depart,” Qiao Yue stated with nonchalance.

“Are you a coward? Imposter! When my uncle and the others return, they will ensure your demise. Leave this place this instant! Servants, seize her and throw her out!”

In response to Qiao Xin’s command, several servants materialized. They exchanged uncertain glances, hesitant to defy Qiao Xin yet equally reluctant to lay hands on someone who might be the fifth young master.

Observing Qiao Xin’s unwavering resolve, Qiao Yue let out a sigh. “Very well, tell me how you intend to verify this. Do you require a DNA test with my mother? My mother passed away long ago and left nothing behind for me. Do you possess her hair sample? Only then can I undergo the test.”

“We need not resort to such elaborate measures. Simply follow me.”

With that, Qiao Xin turned and exited the villa.

Qiao Yue stifled a yawn, resigned to follow. Her body craved rest; she was overwhelmingly sleepy!

Qiao Xin led Qiao Yue toward a secluded area of the expansive manor. Qiao Ying trailed behind, her concern evident, accompanied by two servants.

“This is the place. The snow wolves pose no threat to members of the Qiao family. Venture forth and test this claim. Should they attack you, it will be undeniable proof that you do not belong to the Qiao family.”

Qiao Xin’s laughter was unrestrained, her malicious intent to see Qiao Yue harmed laid bare.

Qiao Yue regarded her with indifference. The loyalty of a snow wolf to its master stemmed from prolonged association. The notion of snow wolves recognizing Qiao family members was merely a fabrication Qiao Xin employed to deceive others.

Unwilling to engage in such a foolish charade, Qiao Yue turned to depart. However, the instant she moved, a rustling sound echoed from behind her.

“Rayan, attack him.”

Qiao Yue evaded the snow wolf’s surprise assault with a nimble roll. Her gaze flickered towards Qiao Xin, who observed the unfolding events with evident delight.

This maniacal woman had actually unleashed all the snow wolves they kept confined.

“Rayan, go! Hurry and kill him!”

A total of six snow wolves were present. The one at the forefront displayed unwavering obedience to Qiao Xin, immediately lunging at Qiao Yue upon her command.

The two servants who had accompanied them stared in abject terror, cowering behind Qiao Ying and trembling uncontrollably.

Previously, the snow wolves’ ferocity was somewhat mitigated by the protective enclosure. Now, with the gate thrown open, their true, terrifying nature was unleashed. This was especially true for the wolf under Qiao Xin’s direct care, which she habitually fed with copious amounts of raw meat and even live prey. And now, obeying Qiao Xin’s directive, it was intent on tearing Qiao Yue to death.

“Quickly, quickly call for second brother!” Qiao Ying stammered, her voice laced with fear as she instructed the servants. She too harbored a deep dread of Qiao Xin’s snow wolf, recognizing its exceptional ferocity.

Observing the anxious expressions of both Qiao Xin and Qiao Ying, Qiao Yue began to piece things together.

These six snow wolves were likely each associated with a different member of the Qiao family, perhaps raised by individuals like Qiao Jing. With their respective owners absent, Qiao Xin’s wolf had assumed leadership, inciting the others to attack her.

After deftly evading further ambushes from the surrounding wolves, Qiao Xin’s particular snow wolf lunged again, its jaws snapping open with the intent to sever the artery in Qiao Yue’s neck.

Qiao Ying and the servants instinctively shut their eyes, consumed by terror. The combined speed and raw power of the snow wolf suggested that survival was impossible. They could not bear to witness the gruesome spectacle, their only hope resting on Qiao Jing’s swift return to end this horrifying ordeal.
