Qiao Yue attends an underground auction where she encounters "Mr. K", who she recognizes as the Godfather. He donates a carved pistol, which triggers fragmented, traumatic memories in Qiao Yue about her mother, her past, and the Godfather's manipulative attempts to control her.

A man from Qiao Yue’s recollections placed a firearm into her grasp, then prompted her to pull the trigger.

"Miss, what are you doing? This is merely a test firing. You cannot possibly use it to harm someone."

"Is this lady deranged? Quickly, escort her away! How could such a perilous individual board this vessel!"

A wave of panic washed over the onlookers as they witnessed Qiao Yue standing with a pistol aimed at Mr. K.

The master of ceremonies had already signaled the crew to guide the alarmed guests to safety.

The ship was sparsely populated with security personnel. The majority of them hesitated to approach, intimidated by the weapon Qiao Yue clutched.

Though the dark barrel bore down on Mr. K, he remained absolutely still, seated as if he were an unmoving mannequin.

"Qiao Yue, you’re not frightened, are you?" The emcee’s voice resonated from behind her.

The man grasped her hand and, before she could even process his action, compelled her to discharge the weapon.

With a heavy thud, Mr. K collapsed onto the deck.

Qiao Yue’s body began to tremble violently.

As Mr. K succumbed to the floor, the mask adorning his face slipped away. Qiao Yue gained a clear view, realizing Mr. K was not a living being but a mannequin fitted with a mask.

And the face depicted on the mannequin belonged to Andy.

Qiao Yue’s eyes widened as she stared at the imitation figure. An unusual conviction bloomed in her mind: the mannequin was, in fact, Andy.

She swiveled around to face the masked emcee. Reaching out, she removed his mask, revealing Andy’s true countenance.

The man offered a stiff smile in her direction and peeled away the lifelike mask from his own face.

Qiao Yue stood frozen, the pieces of the puzzle finally clicking into place.

She understood now how Andy possessed intimate knowledge of her past and how he was privy to her unique approach during every operation.

The man’s gaze softened into a gentle smile. "It's been a long time, Qiao Yue. Does the firearm feel familiar in your hand?"

Qiao Yue trembled without restraint. She met the eyes of the individual before her, a pained smile gracing her lips. "Long time no see, Godfather. I trust you have been well." Upon uttering these words, Qiao Yue felt her consciousness fade, and she lost her footing, succumbing to the darkness.

Upon regaining awareness, she found herself immersed in a lavishly large bathtub. She was within a VIP suite aboard the cruise liner, meticulously appointed to the Godfather’s precise specifications. A beige tatami mat, an expansive bathtub, and floor-to-ceiling windows defined the opulent space.

The Godfather stood by the window, a glass of wine cradled in his hand.

Dusk had already settled, painting the sky in deepening hues.

Instinctively, Qiao Yue conducted a self-assessment of her attire.

"I arranged for assistance with your change of clothes. Qiao Yue, I gave you my word that I would not compel you if you chose not to yield."

"Who aided me?"

"Me." A young woman emerged from behind a screen, her features strikingly familiar.

"Chu Jia, you’ve rejoined the organization."

Chu Jia offered a smile and removed her mask. "You were unaware, weren't you? In truth, after your initial failed assassination attempt on Trand, we substituted the real Chu Jia."

The individual revealed was none other than Minnie, the young lady from St. Faustina’s Institution who had participated in the student exchange program.

"I have been observing you on behalf of the Godfather, providing him with the intelligence he required from me."

Qiao Yue directed her gaze upward towards the Godfather. "Why are you resorting to this? I gave you my solemn promise to return to you in three years. Why subject me to this now?"

Austin chuckled, turning to face Qiao Yue while still holding his wine glass. "I never presented you with such an option. In your absence, my days were filled with longing for you. How could I possibly endure such separation? Thus, I employed a touch of ruse, hoping you would willingly surrender."

Between a canary coerced into a cage and one that willingly enters, the latter holds a far greater appeal.

The Godfather approached slowly. Despite nearing forty, he possessed a remarkably youthful appearance. He extended a hand, his fingers delicately caressing Qiao Yue’s cheek. "Therefore, I trust you will yield of your own accord."

"So, you orchestrated my sending Qiao Jing away, only to lead me directly into your elaborate trap?"

"Precisely, my dearest. The moment has arrived for us to be together." The Godfather drew nearer to her.

Just as he leaned in to bestow a kiss upon Qiao Yue, the deafening roar of a helicopter pierced the night air from outside.

"Godfather, it is The Custodians," Minnie announced urgently.

Qiao Yue’s gaze swept towards the window. The approaching helicopter was closing in rapidly. Clearly visible upon its fuselage were the emblazoned letters spelling out "The Custodians."
