My Identities Were All Exposed After I Was Pampered by Everyone at My Grandfather's House! Chapter 361 - Chapter 361: Trapped
“Can you not go? Please, just stay here with us. Don't return to the organization or your godfather.”
Qiao Jing displayed a rare moment of vulnerability.
The windows in Qiao Yue’s room were open, and the early spring breeze carried the scents of grass and trees into the space. A profound sadness welled up within Qiao Yue.
“I must go this time,” Qiao Yue stated, looking at Qiao Jing. “You have things you need to protect, and so do I.”
“The thing you wish to safeguard… is it your organization…?”
Qiao Jing gazed at Qiao Yue, his eyes clouded with sorrow.
“So, you are aware,” Qiao Yue replied, meeting Qiao Jing's gaze. “You likely already comprehend who I truly am.” Qiao Jing knew everything. “Do you know who the financial backer of the AST organization is?”
“It’s the Eugene family—Andy and Trand’s family. They were the ones who killed your mother, weren't they? And you still intend to go back?”
“Yes,” Qiao Yue affirmed with a nod.
“Why? Is it because your Godfather raised you, or is there another reason?”
Qiao Jing’s heart ached with sorrow.
“Because I love my Godfather.”
Qiao Yue’s eyes were incredibly calm, yet her declaration struck Qiao Jing like a bolt of lightning, leaving him utterly speechless.
“What did you just say?” Qiao Jing questioned, his gaze fixed on Qiao Yue. The young woman’s eyes held a serene expression, as if her words were merely commonplace. Her Godfather? The enigmatic figure who founded the AST organization?
Qiao Jing looked at Qiao Yue and offered a bitter smile. “Is this merely an excuse you've concocted to send me away?”
“No,” Qiao Yue responded, slowly taking a seat and facing Qiao Jing.
The previous vibrancy she displayed when looking at him had vanished, replaced by a gaze as lifeless as a stagnant pool of water.
“I came to the Qiao family to honor my mother’s final wish. While there were some unsavory individuals within the Qiao family, my mother always held affection for Grandpa. Therefore, I won't take any action against him. Now that Grandpa's health has significantly improved, there's no longer a need for me to remain here.”
Qiao Yue’s tone was remarkably composed.
“I have always held affection for my Godfather. Our agreement stipulated that I would become his woman once I fulfilled my mother’s last wish.”
“Qiao Yue!” Qiao Jing exclaimed, on the verge of emotional collapse. “Don’t you grasp my feelings at all? Why must you return to that man?”
Qiao Jing leaned forward. With just a slight additional movement, he could reach out and embrace the girl before him.
“What value do your feelings hold? Qiao Jing, can your emotions help me achieve vengeance?” Qiao Yue scoffed. “Well, if you are willing to punish your own mother, then I might reconsider your suggestion.”
Qiao Jing slumped back, a bitter smile gracing his lips. “I truly believed you understood.”
“I do not,” Qiao Yue declared, standing up. “Being with my Godfather has always been my aspiration and his desire. I was taken by him when I was very young, and I grew up under his care. I don’t know who else I can possibly depend on besides him.”
Observing that Qiao Yue remained resolute in her decision, Qiao Jing could only offer another bitter smile. “Qiao Yue, I will not permit you to leave.”
“You believe you can trap me?”
Qiao Yue’s voice, tinged with a hint of defiance, emanated from behind him.
“Regardless of anything, I will not give you the opportunity.”
The door slammed shut directly in Qiao Yue's face, leaving her sitting dejectedly on the floor. She had never anticipated their relationship would deteriorate to this extent.
If she were to uncover more truths about her mother’s past, she had no choice but to return to her Godfather.
However, she did not wish for Qiao Jing to accompany her. Qiao Jing would not seek retribution against the Qiao family on her behalf, nor did she want to witness him harming his own kin because of her.
Their relationship had arrived at an irreconcilable deadlock, a path with no apparent exit.
Qiao Yue began packing her belongings. She didn't gather many items, just a few clothes, some files, her laptop, and the pistol she had kept locked away.
She vividly recalled the day she first arrived at the Qiao residence, using this very pistol to slay a wolf.
It was also from that day forward that her life became inextricably intertwined with Qiao Jing’s.
Qiao Yue let out a self-deprecating laugh. If only the Qiao family had not taken her in, or if they had driven her away that day…
Had that occurred, her life and Qiao Jing’s might not have become so ensnared, leading to this painful outcome.
Qiao Yue cast one last glance at her room, placed the pistol into her suitcase, and turned to depart.
