My gorgeous wife Chapter 2006 - 1974: Li Chen’s Urgency
Previously on My gorgeous wife...
The immense pressure emanated by the ancient tree was truly astonishing. As one drew nearer, the oppressive force intensified, becoming increasingly formidable. Li Chen maintained a steady pace, neither rushing nor dawdling, as the initial few hundred steps presented little challenge to him. However, even for him, a noticeable strain began to be felt upon reaching the thousand-step mark.
Consequently, Li Chen halted his advance for a moment. Glancing around, he observed that while many had discovered the ancient tree, only a handful of true experts could endure standing at this particular location; there were merely four or five individuals present. Apart from Li Chen himself, the others all possessed some level of physical refinement cultivation, which was the only way they could have reached this point. A thoughtful expression crossed Li Chen’s face as he considered them. It was evident that merely relying on standard cultivation methods was insufficient to reach the vicinity of the ancient tree, at least not within the confines of the Domain Realm.
Although these individuals might momentarily unleash combat power exceeding the Domain Realm, such bursts were fleeting. Their presence here, despite these limitations, prompted deep contemplation in Li Chen. He worried that if any one of them managed to secure a position beneath the ancient tree and claim its prize, he would be left with nothing.
"It seems I not only need to reach the ancient tree but must be the first to do so," Li Chen resolved, resuming his steady stride forward.
The remaining individuals nearby watched with widened eyes as Li Chen proceeded directly towards the ancient tree with apparent ease. "This fellow..." one murmured. "What is his physical refinement cultivation?" another questioned. "This... how is this even possible? My Great Accomplishment Vajra Body cannot achieve this!"
They had indeed doubted Li Chen’s cultivation level, but in this area, everyone's cultivation was inexplicably suppressed to the Domain Realm – a fixed and constant limitation. As far as they could tell, no one had managed to break through this suppression yet. Well, at least, they hadn't witnessed it. Thus, an unconscious assumption formed: no one could overcome the suppression imposed by the Regretless Mountain Range. Therefore, it was a foregone conclusion that Li Chen must be a formidable Body Refinement Expert.
Naturally, their conjecture was not entirely mistaken; Li Chen was indeed a Body Refinement Expert. Some speculated that his physical refinement cultivation was exceptionally high, possibly surpassing the Great Accomplishment Golden Body. However, none could have imagined that Li Chen's physical refinement had already ascended to the Indestructible Body realm.
What exactly constituted the Indestructible Body? It was, by current understanding, the pinnacle of body refinement – the absolute limit until a more potent body refiner emerged. Few cultivators could hone their physical bodies to such an extreme degree. In reality, cultivators achieving this elite level of physical refinement were rarer than Ninth Order Experts. This rarity, however, did not inherently mean top-tier body refiners were superior to Ninth Order Experts, only that their numbers were significantly smaller.
Furthermore, the substantial advantages conferred by body refinement were no trivial matter. In confrontations between equally matched opponents, a body refinement expert could utterly dominate those who had neglected their physical training! This was precisely the most coveted aspect of being a body refinement expert. Not only did they possess greater offensive capabilities than ordinary cultivators, but their defensive power was also significantly more robust. Beyond mere defense, their regenerative abilities, stamina, and overall endurance were also vastly superior.
Considering these combined factors, the disparity was immediately obvious when one side was unfazed by injuries while the other had to resort to cautious evasion and surprise attacks.
Those who had managed to reach this point generally possessed some degree of physical refinement cultivation themselves, and they understood the immense difficulty of progressing beyond the Late Stage of body refinement. This was clearly demonstrated by the fact that none among them had attained the Indestructible Body level. The realization that Li Chen, a powerful expert, had reached the Indestructible Body realm caused a collective tremor of awe within the group. They recalled that in the brief skirmishes they had witnessed earlier, Li Chen had not utilized any unique Indestructible Body techniques, suggesting that the true power of this youth in black likely far exceeded their current estimations.
Li Chen, unconcerned by the thoughts of others, continued his steady, unhurried progression. "This place is indeed peculiar," Li Chen mused. "Based on my previous calculations using the black water from the Nether River Space, my current location corresponds roughly to the pressure found on the second layer."
"That's right," the Primordial Heavy Water agreed. "If I'm not mistaken, advancing another hundred steps or so will bring the pressure here to the level of the first layer."
"The first layer?" Li Chen's lips quivered as he recalled that reaching the second layer had been the absolute limit for him back then.
The Primordial Heavy Water had previously stated that with his power at that time, entering the first layer of black water would have instantly turned him into a mist of blood. However, he had vastly improved since then and wished to gauge the pressure of that first layer.
"Are you truly set on trying? Moving forward a hundred steps should approximate the first layer. However, even after that, you'll still be about a hundred steps away from that specific location," the Primordial Heavy Water cautioned.
Just a hundred steps forward would bring him to a pressure nearly equivalent to the first layer of the Nether River's black water from before. If he were to advance another hundred steps beyond that, the Primordial Heavy Water himself could not predict the terrifying intensity of the pressure.
"Without pressure, there is no motivation. I have been stagnant in the Domain Realm for far too long," Li Chen remarked nonchalantly.
While Li Chen had not explicitly stated his intentions before, his latest words finally revealed his true objective to the several Supreme Treasures.
Nevertheless, this ambition could only be described as utterly insane.
Could it be that he wishes to break through to the Soul Realm right here?
Even beings on the level of these Supreme Treasures considered Li Chen to be out of his mind upon hearing his intentions.
Yet, after a brief period of silence, the Supreme Treasures offered no further comment.
Ever since they had encountered this individual, he had consistently exhibited this particular temperament.
A true madman!
However, as the saying goes, "There is no life without madness."
They understood that after witnessing the two powerful experts earlier, Li Chen had begun to feel a profound sense of urgency. This urgency was the very catalyst for his descent into apparent madness.
Time waits for no one. If he did not hasten his progress, he might soon find himself consumed from the inside out by unknown entities.
Even Supreme Treasures are not omnipotent. At times, the disparity in power is so immense that even Supreme Treasures cannot bridge the gap.
"Go!" Gazing at the ancient tree now faintly visible in the distance, Li Chen's expression regained its composure. However, a fiery glint flickered within his eyes as he let out a low grunt and propelled himself forward once more.
