Two youths desperately fled from a relentless pursuer whose strength fluctuated unpredictably. Despite their efforts, including an Eighth-Rank Heavenly Sovereign's failed intervention, the shadow continued to track them. The youths entered a secret realm hoping for an advantage, as one of them, Netherworld, revealed his powerful Myriad Gu bloodline and unleashed a devastating attack. However, the pursuer easily neutralized the assault with the Law of Destruction, continuing the chase with renewed intent.

Li Chen rejoined Tian Yi and Yang Xin. However, ever since Li Chen obtained the Jade Flute, his emotions had been in a state of unrest. This was due to a message conveyed by the Jade Flute itself – information of such critical importance that it had the potential to shake the entirety of the Starry Universe!

"What in the world... why?" Even after some time had passed, Li Chen had not fully regained his composure. In the past, ancient history would have held no interest for him; what was done was done. But circumstances had changed. As the voice at the Three Births River had foretold, the true war was drawing near, the World-Destroying Beast had emerged, and the Heavenly Dao had personally warned him that the seal might not hold much longer. This was evident from what the Soul Splittings emanating from the World-Destroying Beast were causing. He might very well face a brutal war akin to the one he had witnessed in his dreams. Li Chen truly wished to avoid contemplating war any further. Having personally experienced its horrors, he had no desire to endure it again. Yet, the current reality was that he could not prevent the war's eruption. Even within the Heaven Realm, let alone the entirety of the Four Realms, few would heed his words.

Along their journey, Tian Yi and Yang Xin had managed to acquire numerous valuable items. Li Chen observed them quietly. He no longer had any need for treasures; as a Heavenly Pill Grandmaster, he lacked for nothing in terms of pills. And regarding treasures, what could possibly surpass the Nine Great Treasures?

"Hmm?" After following the two women for a considerable duration, Li Chen's expression shifted slightly, and a smile finally touched his lips. "Finally revealing your true nature, are we?" With these words, Li Chen concealed his presence, enveloping himself in a layer of the Law of Time. This effectively rendered him invisible within the current space-time. The Law of Space-time was currently among the most potent laws Li Chen had integrated. While it might not match the Law of Destruction in sheer offensive power, space-time was undoubtedly a supreme law capable of influencing the fundamental workings of the Starry Universe; its comprehensiveness far exceeded the purely destructive force of the Law of Destruction.

Maintaining his hidden state, Li Chen retreated deep into the fabric of space-time. For absolute concealment, he employed the Law of Wind to create a gentle breeze around his location, making his presence even more imperceptible. After Yang Xin and Tian Yi had departed, a figure slowly materialized in the void.

This figure was highly unusual, at least from Li Chen's perspective. On the surface, the figure appeared no different from any ordinary cultivator. However, through the discerning gaze of his Eye of the Dao, the truth was starkly revealed. According to Li Chen's observations, this figure was, in fact... a dead person!

In the current era of the Four Realms, this was utterly inconceivable! It was common knowledge that every cultivator required a physical body as an anchor; the more vital the essence, the stronger the foundation it provided for both cultivation and combat. Even if a cultivator's body was destroyed, their soul would swiftly seek a new body as an anchor, whether through possession or by borrowing a new form. This was the established practice. Upon acquiring a new body, a cultivator's immediate priority was not to resume cultivation but to stabilize the new vessel as quickly as possible. This too, was common knowledge. If the physical body proved too frail to accommodate the cultivator's soul and Qi, it would inevitably collapse, much like the first encounter Li Chen had with the Spiritual Treasure Daoist Honor. Yet, the individual now confronting Li Chen defied all conventional understanding, for his physical body... was deceased!

In essence, he was a walking corpse! His soul was clearly present and quite potent, but his physical form had long since perished. "What in the blazes is this?!" Even after enduring countless trials, Li Chen was taken aback by this being who disregarded all established principles. If he were forced to describe the person before him, the most fitting term Li Chen could conjure was... a Ghost!

"Hmm?!" At that precise moment, this entity seemed to detect something and extended a hand towards the space where Li Chen was concealed. While he didn't directly find Li Chen, he sensed he was being observed. With his formidable strength, he immediately pinpointed the direction of the scrutiny and lashed out directly at Li Chen's hiding spot. "Boom!" The very space where Li Chen was hidden violently collapsed, propelling Li Chen towards a different location. Upon seeing Li Chen, the being's zombie-like visage twisted into a peculiar smile. "As expected, you are indeed extraordinary to have found me."

"What in the world are you?" Li Chen inquired, his voice deep.

He had encountered specter-like entities before; for instance, the You Hun manipulated by Fan Bayin in the Lower Realm were of a similar ilk.

However, the individual before him emanated an entirely distinct aura.

To label him a ghost felt inaccurate, as he possessed a tangible presence; yet, the fact remained that his physical form was undeniably that of a corpse.

"I am no mere specter," the being responded, a gentle shake of his head accompanying his words. He was clad in ancient robes and sported a somewhat peculiar felt hat. Despite his pallid, lifeless complexion, he possessed striking good looks.

"Young one, with your current cultivation, you are hardly qualified to comprehend my existence. Nevertheless, over the years, you stand out as the most exceptional youth I have encountered," the pale youth stated with composure, his gaze fixed upon Li Chen.

Disregarding the pale youth’s commendation, Li Chen pressed on, his tone icy, "Why are you shadowing Yang Xin and Tian Yi?"

"Ah, you refer to those two females ahead?" the pale youth inquired evenly. "One of them is indeed just an ordinary girl. But the other... she is far from ordinary, do you comprehend?"

Upon hearing this, a shiver coursed through Li Chen’s heart.

He understood implicitly what the pale youth meant by 'extraordinary'.

Yang Xin, while skilled, wasn't particularly unique, but Tian Yi...

"I am aware, and your reminder is unnecessary. Both are individuals under my protection, and I shall safeguard them, regardless of any circumstances," Li Chen declared with a calm demeanor.

"You are aware?" The pale youth's surprise was evident as he studied Li Chen. "Do you truly perceive her as human? Hmm, perhaps we should set this aside for the moment..."

With a wave of his hand, the pale youth’s gaze, though outwardly serene, held a distinct chill as he fixed it upon Li Chen. "Or do you genuinely believe that with your present might, you are capable of protecting such an entity?"

Li Chen met his gaze with a wide, unburdened grin.

Instantly, the Red Moon materialized in his grip. Concurrently, the Seven Slaying Sword hovered above his head. The Blood Gang Divine Body surged forth, intermingling with the Blood Qi of the Indestructible Body and ascending towards the heavens. A formidable aura erupted from Li Chen.

"Would you care to test that assertion?"
