My Girlfriend is a Zombie Chapter 1317: Fighting Violence with Violence
Previously on My Girlfriend is a Zombie...
Ling Mo managed to successfully evade Xu Shuhan in the end. That night, the group found refuge in a rather tranquil shopping mall. While Xiao Bai stood guard in the main hall, the other Female Zombies, after clearing the surrounding zombies, all congregated around Ling Mo. Their attention was fixed on him as he interrogated the foreign zombie, Old Gou. To ensure he couldn't resort to biting off his own tongue, Xia Na had previously placed half a brick into Old Gou's mouth. This ingenious method not only silenced him but also completely filled his mouth, leaving no room for any attempts at struggle.
However, as Ling Mo prepared a stick to dislodge the brick, the corner of his mouth twitched. "You're all becoming increasingly adept at handling enemies..." he remarked.
"Really? Thank you, Ling-Ge!" the Female Zombies cheered enthusiastically.
"That wasn't a compliment!" Ling Mo’s voice boomed. But naturally, no one paid him any mind…
By the time Ling Mo finally managed to pry out the half brick, Old Gou lacked the strength to even curse at him. This fellow was already half-dead from struggling throughout their journey, yet he persisted. The sheer tenacity of a Senior Zombie's vitality was truly undeniable.
"Hey." Ling Mo raised his hand and delivered a slap.
He possessed no special palm wind, of course. Yet, his movement produced a sharp "slap" against Old Gou's face, causing his head to jolt. Instantly, the zombie regained a sliver of consciousness. His narrowed eyes slowly opened, fixing a cold gaze ahead. After his gaze swept over Ling Mo and every Female Zombie present, he spat out a mouthful of bloody foam and rasped, "You filthy... mingling with lowly creatures..."
Before he could finish, Ling Mo slapped him down.
Lying on the ground, Old Gou licked his lips as he addressed Ling Mo: "Top-grade 'Blood Feast'... yet they don't consume you, how foolish..."
"Who says we don't eat him! I practically do it every night..." Li Yalin retorted angrily, stepping forward to loudly defend him. Ling Mo's scalp tingled, and he quickly intervened, "Senior Sister, there's no need to stoop to its level over this."
"So you're their 'meat pig' then?" Old Gou's interest was piqued, but he quickly sneered, "Some imbeciles in Central City attempted this approach as well. How could it possibly succeed with feeble humans? Even if they don't perish immediately, the depletion of vitality will steadily reduce their initial value."
"Slap!"
Ling Mo struck again without further ado, then mused, "'Meat pig'... and 'Blood Feast', these are both food classifications assigned by those zombies in Central City to humans, correct? Continuing their usual brutality. And their contempt for humanity..." He then added in a low voice, "In your Central City, some humans are kept this way, aren't they?"
Old Gou seemed disinclined to conceal these details. He snorted and replied, "Kept? No, only those humans capable of producing offspring are kept. Because they might give birth to new 'Blood Feasts'. It's a pity your human reproductive cycle is too lengthy; it's truly disappointing... As for 'Blood Feasts' like yourselves, they are naturally divided amongst the Senior Zombies. However, on one occasion, an idiot who formerly worked in a supermarket suggested processing 'Blood Feasts' like frozen meat. This idea actually garnered some support. Ultimately, they compromised by merely hanging the 'Blood Feast' on a hook, periodically slicing off a piece of meat... I never endorsed this. Doing so merely leads to a continuous drain of vitality. The optimal method of consumption is to induce the 'Blood Feast' into a state of extreme terror, then devour them amidst their struggles!"
"Only then will they unleash the zenith of their vitality! The flavor at that precise moment is utterly unforgettable! While consuming, you can perceive their power coursing into my very being!" Old Gou became increasingly animated as he spoke, his eyes fixated on Ling Mo, turning an even deeper shade of red.
Yet, listening to his threats and graphic descriptions, Ling Mo could only clench his fists.
"Hmm? You're not enraged?" Old Gou inquired, surprise evident in his tone. "Aren't humans the most incensed by this sort of thing? Even though you've captured me, if I could make you tremble with fury, I would be quite pleased. Hehehe..."
Ling Mo subtly pulled at the corner of his mouth and responded, "There's no need. Because you will soon experience something far worse than death. And I will personally ensure you witness Central City's utter destruction with your own eyes."
The youth's tone, entirely devoid of threat, somehow made Old Gou believe him for a fleeting instant. Nevertheless, he scoffed and laughed, "Destroy Central City? Hehehe... Do you comprehend the sheer number of zombies within Central City? Countless! How could you possibly... Hehehe, do not amuse me, human. Especially when those words emanate from the lips of an abandoned species such as yourself."
"Abandoned?" Ling Mo frowned.
"You insects hiding in the shadows are unaware of this? Precisely, you humans are an abandoned species! And it isn't merely a designation; it is an undeniable reality." Old Gou guffawed.
Ling Mo paused, a flicker of disbelief crossing his face... "Reality"? What could that possibly signify?
An almost instinctive sense of unease struck him, but before he could probe further, Old Gou abruptly jerked its head back and violently smashed it against the ground.
With each impact, it cackled, “Hehehe… Destroy Central City? Such a ridiculous notion for you humans… Why did those like you, the ‘Blood Feast,’ flee? Don’t you comprehend? It wasn't merely because you couldn't resist, but because you were utterly incapable of doing so… Foolish creature, you live your days in perpetual fear and delusion. As for me, do not even dream of humiliating me again…”
In mere seconds, its skull had collided with the earth over ten times. A gushing torrent of blood erupted, splattering outwards with every brutal impact.
“Damn it!”
Ling Mo cursed under his breath and swiftly employed a Tentacle to seize its neck. Xia Na and the others promptly moved in, securing its wings and hoisting it into the air.
“It’s still breathing,” observed Black Silk.
“I had hoped to glean some answers before resorting to drastic measures… but now, that possibility is gone,” Ling Mo murmured with dejection, taking a deep, steadying breath.
As his mind settled, he focused, condensing a psychic tentacle and extending it deliberately towards Old Gou.
The instant the tentacle breached the psychic light cluster, Old Gou’s form convulsed violently, its eyes rolling back into its head.
“I must succeed…” Ling Mo whispered. The immense value of this captive was undeniable, especially given that hostilities had already commenced today. Even if they managed to locate other foreign zombies, the enemy would undoubtedly be far more vigilant. Capturing another specimen alive would certainly not be as straightforward.
Should Senior Zombies be on alert, at the very least, their resolute will to perish could not be easily thwarted. It was even conceivable that all the foreign zombies might unite, drastically diminishing Ling Mo’s prospects… Naturally, this was mere conjecture, but even in the absence of such an event, he had to consider this contingency.
Xu Shuhan, though not fully grasping Ling Mo’s actions, watched with palpable tension.
“It must be some form of psychic assault… Observing Ling Mo’s approach, it’s clear he wishes for it to survive… Central City… That place is truly terrifying. Compared to it, this location could genuinely be called a sanctuary for humanity…”
Ling Mo himself was murmuring, “Don’t perish, not yet at least…”
The Tentacle gradually infiltrated deeper, provoking a surge of frenzied, instinctual resistance.
Ling Mo’s expression rapidly darkened… He had already noted this when confronting the Titan – the psychic power of these foreign zombies was exceptionally volatile. Coupled with their advanced intellect, this rendered them exceedingly difficult for Ling Mo to control.
However, Ling Mo, fueled by an unyielding resolve to prevail, grew increasingly focused as he battled Old Gou’s resistance, oblivious to the cold sweat now beading on his forehead.
“I have to make this work, I absolutely cannot falter at this crucial juncture… I must… Damn it!”
Just as Ling Mo’s Tentacle finally penetrated the core of the psychic light cluster, it began to disintegrate!
Almost instantaneously, the savage consciousness he had been barely suppressing erupted outwards.
Ling Mo grunted in response, but a spark ignited in his eyes.
“So that’s how it is… Why hadn’t I considered this earlier? Given their mutated bodies, their psychic light clusters must have undergone a similar transformation! I was solely focused on how to establish a foothold within its psychic light cluster, but that method is entirely futile… It only provokes repeated, instinctive attacks. If I persist with this brute-force approach, there's a slim chance of success, but it will perish before then…”
A sense of urgency gripped Ling Mo.
“What remedy can I employ? What alternative method should I adopt?”
Observing Old Gou’s fading life signs, Ling Mo’s pupils contracted sharply.
“That’s it… If it cannot resist… then let it attack!”
Acting on this sudden inspiration, Ling Mo immediately amplified his psychic energy output.
An overwhelming flood of energy surged forth, eliciting an even more ferocious backlash from the psychic light cluster.
Yet, with Ling Mo’s formidable psychic strength, he could effortlessly endure such a direct, forceful repudiation…
“As expected, to exert control over them, a more brutal method is required! Their evolutionary path is rigidly hierarchical – only through sheer dominance can they be made to submit,” Ling Mo mused with exhilaration.
The two opposing streams of energy collided, gradually eroding each other, until Ling Mo decisively gained the advantage.
He drove the Tentacle deep into the heart of Old Gou’s psychic light cluster, then released a prolonged exhalation.
“Thud!”
Xia Na and the others released their grip, and Old Gou slumped lifelessly to the ground.
A few minutes later, its body commenced a slow twitching, and then, its eyes fluttered open…
“Human…” Old Gou rasped, the word gratingly extracted from its throat.
