Chen Ahmao confronts Liu Hongluan, but is sent away by the narrator. Qing Li questions Dumpling about why he doesn't speak, and Dumpling claims he is too young. The narrator realizes Dumpling is hiding something. Qing Li reminds the narrator that it is Yu Longting's birthday tomorrow, and the narrator reveals she has saved enough for a house down payment as a gift.

"Let Beichen handle the child, boss, I need a word with you," Qing Li nodded towards Yu Longting. In the preceding days, her adaptation to working without pay had fostered an increasingly harmonious rapport with Yu Longting.

Yu Longting readily complied, pulling out his phone.

Beichen, following the implicit command, approached and took Dumpling away.

Qing Li then escorted Liu Hongluan out of the room.

Only the three of us remained in the hall.

"Have you observed anything peculiar about your son?" Qing Li inquired, her tone sharp.

Yu Longting had ventured out to the Snake Sect to procure a Peach and some tonics.

After presenting a Peach to me, he responded in a hushed tone, "What seems strange about him?"

"It’s the fact that Dumpling can recite lengthy and intricate Curse Words, yet he remains unable to speak," I interjected first. "I initially assumed he was merely quiet, but after being questioned by Mom, he revealed that he was temporarily unable to speak."

"I’ve been aware of this for some time," Yu Longting confessed. Sensing our focused gazes upon him, he guided me to a seat. "Wanwan, do you recall that crucial medicine you took after Dumpling had a Demon Qi Seed implanted?"

"Yes," I confirmed, a profound sense of dread creeping into my heart.

Yu Longting continued, "That medicine was developed to prevent Qingyang from implanting another Demon Qi Seed in Dumpling, thereby averting a recurrence of past events. However, this medication carries certain side effects..."

"Cognitive impairment?" Qing Li ventured a guess.

I shook my head. "Dumpling appears quite intelligent. Apart from his speech impediment, his mind seems even sharper than mine."

"Wanwan, the medicine you ingested was formulated from the purified essence of demonic creatures," Yu Longting stated, his expression darkening. "Because Dumpling was too young to fully process it, the purified mana within his body has been a source of constant torment. He endures agonizing pain every single moment."

"Such a grave matter, and you're only disclosing it now?" Anger flared within me, and I felt an urge to strike Yu Longting, my eyes blazing with indignation.

Yu Longting spread his hands defensively. "I presumed the pain was minimal, and he never voiced any complaints. This condition is undetectable even through pulse diagnosis; you can't fault me, can you?"

The unspoken implication hung in the air: it was Dumpling’s fault for not speaking up.

"Dumpling, much like Yu Longting, possesses a stoic nature; he endures stoically and refrains from burdening others," Qing Li remarked with a sigh, then turned to Yu Longting. "Could his inability to speak stem from the incessant pain damaging his speech center?"

"It must be the peak of suffering, endured to such an extent that it has robbed him of his capacity for speech," Yu Longting responded softly, his gaze lowered. "Reciting the Curse Words likely provides a fleeting moment of respite from the agony during those crucial seconds."

"Do you... possess any means to alleviate Dumpling’s suffering?" I inquired, rising to my feet, my heart constricting with worry.

Yu Longting shook his head. "If a solution existed, I would have implemented it already."

"I have dedicated years to studying the power derived from purifying demonic creatures and their inherent demonic Qi. Entrust this to me; I will devise a method to cure Dumpling," Qing Li declared. As she finished speaking, her aura turned intensely chilling, and Spider Silk rapidly unfurled from her fingertips.

A startled cry immediately echoed from the doorway, followed by the unmistakable sound of frantic, repetitive banging.

I circled the iron door, now impaled by the Spider Silk, and proceeded to the entrance, peering outside. It was Liu Hongluan, caught in the act of eavesdropping near the wall.

Liu Hongluan shuddered uncontrollably, her heart pierced by the Spider Silk. Had it not possessed a flimsy, paper-like quality, she would have met her demise instantly. "I was merely concerned... about the Young Master's well-being... I was the one who suggested something might be amiss with the Young Master; I... harbor no malicious intent."

"So, I should be expressing my gratitude?" Qing Li gazed down at Liu Hongluan with icy disdain before addressing Yu Longting. "Perhaps I should have Yu Longting present you with a token of our appreciation."

"A gift? I already have a grand gift prepared right here," Qing Li stated, likely aiming to intimidate Liu Hongluan. However, Yu Longting produced a gift of his own, playing along with Qing Li’s veiled threat. "I guarantee you’ll be thoroughly satisfied, Liu Hongluan."
