My Demon Husband Is a Snake Chapter 1120: If You Two Die Together, What About Me?
Previously on My Demon Husband Is a Snake...
"The one who is cooperating with that bastard spirit is you, and your entire family is cooperating with that bastard spirit." The boatman shot back, his accent thick and unmistakably from the Northeast.
I instantly knew who he was and, picking my nose, replied, "Does my whole family include you, then?"
Bang~
A colossal wave surged over us, shattering the bamboo raft into countless pieces. We three were abruptly plunged into the water, the current violently sweeping us towards the maw of the Corpse Sturgeon.
This was truly the end of the line; the water's pull was terrifyingly potent. Even Qing Li struggled against the immense force, tightly gripping my hand, she pleaded, "Don't let go, even if we die, we'll die together."
"If you both die together, what about me?" the cloaked boatman interjected resentfully.
Qing Li could no longer contain her fury and bellowed, "Aren't you going to do anything, Yu Qingxiao? Do you want to be forced to kneel on an upgraded Golden Lotus and Wolf Fang Club?"
My goodness, what a formidable woman! Long live the fierce lady, long live the fierce lady~
"Alright, my dear wife, watch out for the Corpse Sturgeon's attack," Yu Qingxiao declared, leaping from the water and delivering a kick to the massive fish. The Corpse Sturgeon, weighing tens of tons, was sent flying as if it were nothing.
I was utterly stunned, watching the Corpse Sturgeon sail through the air in a wide arc. It collided with a grotesque face that had emerged and was playing music from the cave's opening. The Soft-shelled Turtle Spirit was instantly pulverized by the colossal Corpse Sturgeon, and a golden inner core plummeted from above.
Without a second thought, I didn't even wait for the Corpse Sturgeon to splash back into the water. Using the Golden Lotus, I sprang upward to snatch the inner core, exclaiming, "Wow, what a magnificent inner core! Best not to let it get lost in the water."
"Are you insane? Jumping out in a situation like this?" Qing Li, acting like a fretful old mother, scolded me upon my descent, her words akin to a spray in my face.
With a thunderous splash, the immense Corpse Sturgeon fell back into the water. However, it failed to create a significant wave, as Yu Qingxiao was already positioned there, catching the creature with a single hand. The Corpse Sturgeon was gently lowered into the flowing water, leaving the fish itself utterly bewildered.
Its decaying eyes stared blankly at Yu Qingxiao, completely incapable of comprehending the bald man's intentions. It was, in hindsight, quite understandable. Despite Yu Qingxiao's human guise, his true form was that of a colossal dragon, far surpassing the Corpse Sturgeon in size, making its gentle handling entirely within his capabilities.
I cleared my throat, offering Qing Li a somewhat awkward explanation, "Wasn't it precisely because Dragon Dad was present that I dared to be so audacious?"
"If he were reliable, pigs would be climbing trees. Had he acted sooner, we wouldn't have ended up in the water," Qing Li stated, her expression darkening as she glanced at her drenched form. "Damn it, I detest water the most."
I loathe water too, but what could be done now? Before I learned to swim from Bai Zanhe, I was quite the landlubber. "What do we do now, with the raft destroyed?"
"What do we do? We make Yu Qingxiao our mount. We can't possibly swim to the Nether Spring, can we?" Qing Li glared daggers at Yu Qingxiao.
Yu Qingxiao let out a soft chuckle, turning and patting his bald head. "Calm yourself, my dear wife, I am here. I didn't reveal myself earlier because you didn't want me to follow, and I was afraid you'd be angry if I trailed you secretly."
"And you think I wouldn't be angry this way?" Qing Li lashed out with a kick, but her body suddenly felt weightless as Yu Qingxiao leaped from the water, scooping her up. They then landed atop the massive Corpse Sturgeon, and with a piercing dragon roar from Yu Qingxiao, the Corpse Sturgeon began to move forward like an aircraft carrier, a truly imposing sight.
But... did they forget something? "Wait, I'm still here! You've left me behind," I cried out. Watching the Corpse Sturgeon begin to recede into the distance, my anxiety was so great that I forgot all pretense of usefulness, frantically dog-paddling to catch up.
