Qin Miaomiao learns of Xu Jiaojiao's potential breakup with Jin Jing and rushes to comfort her. Xu Jiaojiao confirms her decision to end the relationship, leaving Qin Miaomiao worried about her emotional state and the impact on her work.

Jin Jing’s stomach finally settled after he gulped down a glass of water. He then retrieved his phone and saw a message from Xu Jiaojiao. Upon reading the final sentence of her message, his phone tumbled from his grasp and landed on the floor.

“Jin Jing, let’s break up.”

After considerable thought, Xu Jiaojiao had made the decision to end her relationship with Jin Jing. Despite a lingering sense of reluctance in her heart, she recognized that certain choices must be made, as prolonging the situation would only lead to further complications for everyone involved.

Observing her own pallor, she instructed the makeup artist to apply a more generous amount of blush. It was only upon seeing a complexion that she found somewhat acceptable that she confidently proceeded towards the set.

Mo Wenwan had drafted a proposal for a collaborative project, eager to present it to Qin Miaomiao at the earliest opportunity. The cooperation they had previously discussed was now being finalized, and had it not been for the monthly summary report she was obligated to complete, she would not have faced any delays.

“Mo Wenwan, come to my office.”

Just as she was about to depart with the project proposal in hand, Mo Wenwan was summoned by Li Li. She paused for a moment before assenting, her expression neutral as she hesitantly stepped into what she thought was her own office, only to quickly proceed into Li Li’s office.

“President Li.”

A hint of mischief danced in Li Li’s eyes as he curiously assessed Mo Wenwan. He had once regarded her as an intelligent woman, but now she struck him as remarkably astute, sparking unexpected notions with the look in his eyes.

“Please have a seat. Let’s discuss this properly.”

Li Li’s gaze lingered on Mo Wenwan’s face, drifting over her eyes and casting a significant weight upon his mood. He then inquired, “What are your thoughts regarding President Shan’s investment in the new film?”

“President Li, the script you’ve selected is undoubtedly excellent. Furthermore, the themes are highly popular at the moment, and I am confident that the box office results will be outstanding.”

Mo Wenwan surmised that Li Li might appreciate words of praise, yet she understood that mere flattery would not sway his decisions. Therefore, she introduced another point.

“However, concerning the casting, I believe it would be beneficial to consider the company’s newly signed artists for many of the prominent supporting roles. Of course, these are merely my suggestions, and the final decision rests with you, President Li.”

Mo Wenwan’s advice subtly steered Li Li towards considering alternative perspectives.

“I will give your suggestions careful consideration. I would like you to be the supervisor for the new film.”

“Me? President Li, are you proposing that I take on the role?”

Mo Wenwan regarded Li Li with a look of disbelief. Despite their long-standing professional relationship, Li Li had never demonstrated such trust as to allow her to lead independently. But now…

“President Li, I believe my experience is insufficient. This role of supervisor should be handled by someone with more extensive experience.”

Mo Wenwan’s statement was not born of false modesty; she genuinely weighed the situation and found Li Li’s gaze to be peculiar. She understood better than anyone that Li Li might simply be testing her.

“I shall not detain you any longer. Please return to your work.”

As he spoke, Li Li’s gaze intensified, his eyes fixed on the woman’s retreating form, a shadow deepening within his heart. He mused, 'On the surface, nothing appears amiss. Even if the rumors are baseless, they must have observed some unusual indicators to warrant reporting such trivial matters.'

‘It seems I must maintain greater vigilance with Mo Wenwan,’ he thought. ‘Her influence is steadily increasing, and it may be necessary to appropriately curtail her authority.’

These thoughts occupied Li Li’s mind, while Mo Wenwan was consumed by a growing sense of unease. The more she replayed Li Li’s earlier actions, the more superfluous they seemed. There had been no logical need for him to solicit her opinion or express concern for the sentiments of others. This contemplation left her somewhat perplexed, prompting her to send a message to Qin Miaomiao, informing her of her imminent departure.
