Mushoku Tensei: Reincarnated as a Beast Race Chapter 365 - The Final Descent
Previously on Mushoku Tensei: Reincarnated as a Beast Race...
The Dragon God’s Hole, situated on one of the initial levels of the Sky World, bore the scars of utter devastation.
This particular floor was an apocalyptic scene of destruction.
Countless remnants of islands, engulfed in flames, drifted through the air. Magma flowed like molten rivers across shattered terrains, while storms raged relentlessly. Purple lightning struck with terrifying frequency, continuing its assault on the already ruined landscape.
Upon their arrival on this floor, Rygar and Eris were immediately ambushed by hundreds of winged beasts.
These were Six-Winged Rocs.
Each individual beast was an S-Rank hunter, boasting three pairs of wings and exhibiting unparalleled aerial agility. Their formidable king was an SS-Level beast, a predator capable of devouring dragons and giants with ease.
Naturally, this encounter ignited a battle the moment they set foot on the floor, a confrontation where Rygar and Eris emerged victorious with considerable ease.
Nevertheless, this engagement constituted a loss of precious time from their journey.
Now, only the mangled carcasses of these monstrous creatures littered the entire floor.
A significant amount of time had elapsed since they had departed this place.
At this precise moment, a man clad in white, his eyes a piercing gold, materialized before the floor's portal.
It was the Technique God, Laplace.
Or, more accurately, it was the Nether King Vita, currently inhabiting his form.
His usual divine and immaculate appearance was absent. He was utterly drenched in blood. The crimson liquid stained his silver hair, cascaded down his arms, and even saturated his long spear.
A closer inspection revealed that the blood was not his own, but that of the monsters.
After all, despite Eris and Rygar having eliminated numerous beasts along their path, they had pressed onward, bypassing countless floors, disregarding adversaries, skipping battles, and leaving behind anything deemed non-essential.
The instant Vita appeared, he unfurled his draconic wings and ascended at an impossible speed, rocketing off in a seemingly arbitrary direction across the floor, shattering the sound barrier almost immediately.
In the very next moment, a colossal demon, adorned with six arms and possessing purple hair, materialized in nearly the same location.
Strapped to his back was a massive pack, containing one of the world's most potent weapons.
Badigadi surveyed the ravaged panorama and let out a booming laugh.
"Bwahahahaha! That guy truly relishes in wreaking havoc!"
He scanned his surroundings for another moment until his gaze fell upon a peculiar, cloud-shaped rock fragment. Without further delay, he adjusted the pack on his shoulders, strode to the edge of the floating island, and launched himself with all his might.
The instructions provided by Hitogami were remarkably straightforward.
Upon entering this floor, his sole objective was to race towards the cloud-shaped rock and make a leap.
And so, he obeyed.
His immense form plummeted into the abyss, hurtling towards what appeared to be an empty void. Yet, a wild grin stretched across his face as the wind screamed past his ears.
Meanwhile, Laplace, who had already propelled himself far ahead, swiftly located his objective and accelerated towards it.
Unlike Badigadi, who relied on the Fighter God Armor to contend with formidable opponents, Vita, by controlling Laplace’s body, could unleash extraordinary power with virtually no constraints.
Frankly, since assuming control of this vessel, Vita felt as though any objective in existence was within his reach.
This body possessed such immense strength that even the world's most powerful beasts seemed no more formidable than mere kittens in its presence.
It was a display of martial prowess so absurd that Vita had never witnessed anything comparable.
Not even during his centuries-long possession of the Demon King.
Not even when he controlled Randolph Marianne, the Death God.
Indeed, Vita eagerly anticipated the conclusion of the ongoing war, for he firmly believed that by wielding the power of this body and the Death God’s form, no obstacle would remain in his path to ascending as the supreme entity of the world.
Until that day arrived, he would harbor no fear of anyone or anything.
He finally reached another desolate island.
This one, however, housed an enormous egg.
Laplace landed beside the egg, which was nearly as large as himself. With effortless grace, he plunged his hand through the shell, which offered no resistance, and precisely extracted the heart of the beast that had yet to be born.
Then, with equal indifference, he crushed it.
Almost simultaneously, Badigadi, still in free fall, observed a colossal portal materialize directly beneath him, recognizing it as the gateway to the subsequent floor.
He continued his descent without any apprehension.
Just as Badi was about to pass through it, Vita, in his aerial pursuit, finally drew near.
Both combatants smoothly transitioned into the next floor, for which they also possessed explicit instructions on navigation.
The demon and the slime were exploiting every available asset to traverse the world's most perilous labyrinth.
Hitogami’s guidance.
Their individual might.
And the bloody trails left in the wake of Rygar and Eris.
From an observer's viewpoint, the progression of their journey seemed remarkably uncomplicated.
In this manner, their ultimate objective was rapidly and persistently drawing nearer.
----
At that precise instant, on the 2400th Floor, the Apocalypse Beast was locked in combat with the False Demon God, the ultimate adversary of the Demon World, in a confrontation that disregarded all semblance of normalcy.
The challenge presented by the Demon World surpassed that of the preceding three realms.
Not only did the very environment serve as a formidable obstacle to intruding adventurers, but the monstrous inhabitants were also considerably more vexing.
The formidable powers wielded by the demons were far more arcane and volatile than those of the beasts and monsters encountered in earlier worlds, and as if that were not enough, their physical forms possessed an unbelievable resilience.
The creatures of the Beast World engaged in combat through a style characterized by directness, impulsiveness, and sheer aggression.
Similarly, the monsters inhabiting the Sea World and the Sky World employed magical arts and combat methodologies distinctly different from one another. The same held true for the impostor deities designated as final bosses.
However, the Demon World presented a unique set of challenges.
On one floor, Rygar and Eris might confront demons capable of spewing fire and amalgamating with the earth, erupting from the dark terrain like volcanic forces.
On the subsequent floor, they would face gargantuan demons equipped with the ability to corrupt the mind, intrude upon thoughts, and plunge their adversaries into nightmarish hallucinations.
Some commanded flesh, others manipulated shadows, and a few possessed bodies so adaptable and uncanny they appeared to lack any discernible weak points.
The inherent magical capabilities and innate abilities of these demons proved exceptionally troublesome.
Yet, despite these formidable traits, the rate at which Eris and Rygar traversed the Demon World was the swiftest encountered across all four worlds thus far.
Through relentless combat and continuous forward momentum, rather than succumbing to exhaustion, both had, to a degree, acclimatized themselves to extreme fatigue.
Admittedly, this adaptation primarily pertained to mental fortitude, as their physical bodies were continually regenerated; nevertheless, the situation remained exceedingly perilous.
They fought without cessation, without any genuine respite, and without permitting their minds a moment's reprieve. Despite this, they persevered in their advance.
The primary obstacle was that the False Demon God stood as a more significant impediment than any adversary faced previously.
This Boss Monster presented as a colossal Giant, distinguished by its twenty arms and a multitude of hundreds of eyes distributed across its entirety.
A selection of these eyes would sporadically unleash or activate mysterious and potent abilities, such as Regeneration, Teleportation, Telekinesis, Enchantment, Barriers, and a myriad of other preposterous powers.
Indubitably, all these manifestations were intrinsically linked to the demons' so-called Demon Eyes; however, comprehending the source of the difficulty offered no solution to the problem.
Without question, this engagement represented the most protracted battle Rygar had undertaken since his initiation into the Labyrinth.
Donning his Black Armor, Sköllvindr, which now glowed incandescently from the immense volume of flame it had absorbed, Rygar executed a teleportation maneuver to the demon's already compromised flank and delivered a fierce strike with Doomsday.
The cerulean flames of the Apocalypse blade extended for miles, and the azure weapon itself seemed to resonate with exhilaration, inflicting ever-greater devastation.
A piercing hum reverberated once more as the False Demon God was cleaved in twain, yet its tribulations were far from concluded.
The devastating cleave tore open a dark chasm that commenced to engulf its form, akin to a destructive mechanism, a Black Hole intricately woven into the wound.
"UOOOOOOOOHHHHHGGGGG!!!"
Once again, succumbing to the irresistible pull of Gravity Magic, the Demon activated one of its ocular organs, and its body was instantaneously relocated to a different position several hundred meters distant.
The very moment it materialized, another of its eyes focused upon Rygar, unleashing a barrage of a thousand beams of corrosive, dark green light that obliterated the entire chain of obsidian mountains without discrimination.
The insidiously consuming black fissure continued its relentless obliteration, carving immense sections from the world as it swallowed rock, magma, and the corporeal remnants of the false god. Despite this, Rygar's advance remained unhindered.
In fact, he perceived an increase in his speed.
A significant acceleration.
He sliced directly through the thousand beams of light head-on, weaving between them, leaping, slashing, evading, and counterattacking with supernatural precision, augmented by his Demon Eye.
Mountains crumbled under the sheer force of his maneuvers.
Entire summits detonated or were impaled in perfectly straight trajectories as he moved like a cataclysm, culminating in a final, explosive surge, transforming into an actual bolt of azure lightning, re-engaging the Demon God once more—faster, more potent.
Rygar’s demeanor was considerably more aggressive at that juncture.
His Sköllvindr Armor demonstrated an escalating potency with each absorbed flame, devoid of any apparent limitation. Its appellation, The Armor That Devours the Sun, was undeniably fitting.
Furthermore, his sword, Doomsday, summoned ceaseless, destructive blue flames, instigating a relentless cycle of destruction and reinforcement.
However, the most significant factor contributing to his escalating ferocity was his accumulated combat experience.
Facing off against three false gods had allowed him to once again perceive the advancement of his own power. As formidable as the Armor and the Sword were, it was only through his wielder's skill that they could manifest their utmost potential.
These artifacts were unlike the Fighter God Armor, which subdued its wearer through sheer might. Instead, they magnified the user's prowess, provided, of course, that the individual could endure their immense power.
Rygar had already achieved absolute mastery in both swordsmanship and sorcery.
Even so, he felt his own abilities continuing to progress.
Growing stronger with every formidable adversary he encountered.
Lightning, gravity, destructive flames, and all manner of magic bent to his will. A simple sweep of his blade could cleave through mountain ranges and oceans. Rygar increasingly felt himself embodying an apocalyptic force.
In contrast, the Demon God Monster, while still possessing seemingly limitless physical stamina, began to struggle due to the overuse of its Demon Eyes' magical capabilities.
It retaliated with punches and monstrous strikes, yet it felt as though it were confronting a divine warrior whose sole purpose was its demise.
With each passing second, it felt itself submerged in fire, magma, lightning, and the crushing force of gravity. A momentary lapse in concentration would lead to its body being instantly severed into countless fragments.
As the conflict wore on, the monstrous creature, despite its incredible vitality, started to feel cornered.
And then, precisely as both anticipated, an opening finally presented itself.
Or, more accurately, a misstep.
One of the Demon Eyes, responsible for maintaining a Perfect Magic Barrier, faltered at the critical moment.
Consequently, a colossal blast of Vacuum Magic impacted the giant demon squarely in its torso, creating a gaping hole dozens of meters wide through its chest.
The air imploded into the wound with a deafening roar, dragging forth black blood, scorched flesh, and grotesque bone fragments as the creature faltered for the first time.
Rygar did not let this chance slip away.
His Sixth Sense instantly confirmed this as his optimal opportunity.
Traversing miles in an instant with a Spatial Leap, he materialized dangerously close to the colossal being, leaving insufficient time for any delayed reaction to truly save it.
Sköllvindr commenced to glow with increased luminescence as the smile on Rygar’s face widened, greedily absorbing all nearby fire as if his armor were an inexhaustible vortex of destructive infernos.
The very sky of the Demon World seemed to quake.
The surrounding rivers of magma were drawn towards him.
In the distance, the black mountains began to fracture and crumble.
Flames of blue, purple, and orange—the infernal fires from the ground, the exposed magma, the lingering embers from prior combats—all began to gravitate towards Rygar, as though a second sun had appeared to consume the first.
And then, before the Demon God could regain its footing, he uttered a single word:
"Sun Devourer."
In the subsequent instant, a new sun ignited into existence.
A sphere of white-blue fire and incandescent gold materialized at the heart of the battlefield, engulfing all in its vicinity.
The flames expanded at an astonishing velocity, and the initial impact caused the very air to momentarily vanish, torn away by the sheer violence of the event. When sound eventually returned, it did so as an apocalyptic roar that appeared to rend the world asunder.
First came the shockwave.
It swept across serpentine chains of ebony mountains, reducing entire ranges to mere dust.
The entirety of the ground's surface seemed to recoil beneath the immense pressure exerted by this newly formed, devouring star.
Then followed a light of such intensity that the Demon World's sky, already obscured by smoke and toxic clouds, was bleached white for several seconds.
Even from thousands of meters away, the heat continued to obliterate mountains, liquefy rock, and transmute everything into glassy black slag.
The blue flames enveloped the False Demon God completely.
Its twenty arms thrashed wildly within that solar sea, while Demon Eyes frantically opened across its entire form, unleashing barriers, energy beams, teleportation abilities, and every conceivable power.
The monstrous vitality of the false god transformed into a prolonged agony within that miniature sun, as if it were being made to perish repeatedly.
The black armor blazed so intensely that it appeared to be forged from celestial metal. Doomsday hummed with exhilaration in Rygar’s grasp, and the blue flames erupting from its blade seemed to shriek with delight as they consumed ever more of the enemy.
Finally, the False Demon God yielded.
Its body disintegrated entirely, its Demon Eyes flickered out one by one, and its monstrous flesh was reduced to smoldering ash and burning fragments before it could even impact the ground.
For several moments, the ground continued to tremble from the lingering effects of the devastating spell.
Then, gradually, the tremors began to subside.
---
Moments later, Eris and Rygar successfully passed through the portal, arriving on the subsequent level.
Their objective was to reach the final area of the Dragon God's Hole with utmost haste.
They were heading towards the Dragon World, also known as the Upside-Down World.
This was the ultimate floor of the most ancient and perilous labyrinth known to existence, where destinies intertwined, setting the stage for one of the most monumental clashes in the history of the Six-Faced World.
