The battle at Beining Pass concluded without any casualties, a stark contrast to Qingyang Pass, which suffered heavy losses. While the Fang Family emerged unscathed, the other noble families faced significant casualties, with only a handful of survivors. Qu Fengxing died early in the fight, and Mo Yanhong met an absurd end, being accidentally stomped to death by a beast after attempting to feign death.

Mo Yanhong's character was truly despicable, and his inglorious demise was nothing short of a farce. Even the younger members of the Mo Family felt a profound sense of shame when associated with him. Han Yan did not press the matter, merely ordering a hasty burial on a nearby mountain. Initially, Han Yan intended for Mo Yanhong to be interred alongside the fallen defenders and civilians, but this proposal was met with firm opposition, as it was deemed an insult to the honoured dead, compelling Han Yan to alter his decision.

That the young master of one of the Eight Great Families would meet such an end, and that even in death, no one desired to share a resting place with him, was truly a sorrowful conclusion. Nevertheless, his fate was entirely his own making, and he had no one else to blame.

"Are these the so-called elite family members following me? Of the same descendants from the Eight Great Families, why are those who follow Han Yan so valiant and fearless, while those who follow me are all such incompetent fools?" Dan Tai Xuan gazed at Han Yan with a touch of bewilderment. Feeling embarrassed to remain at Qingyang Pass, he quietly separated himself from the throng and departed with heavy steps.

As the radiant sunrise once again crested the horizon, the deep gorge and the imposing ramparts on either side regained their former tranquility. The sunlight vanquished the lingering chill of the night, along with the bloodshed and desolation that followed in the wake of the immense battle.

Although the Exotic Beasts had recently endured a crushing defeat, with even the Netherworld Beast known as Xu Ming sustaining injuries and making a hasty escape, an air of uncertainty persisted. No one dared to feel completely secure that they would not return. Therefore, after a brief period of rest, the seemingly tireless soldiers reoccupied their positions atop the city walls.

The reinforcements dispatched by the various chambers of commerce and families were heralded into Beining Pass with resounding cheers. Had they not arrived precisely when they did, affording Beining Pass invaluable breathing room, the pass might not have withstood the onslaught, nor could the invading Exotic Beasts have been so thoroughly decimated. Gratitude permeated the hearts of the soldiers and civilians within the pass, as well as Han Yan herself, towards these timely allies.

Within the General's Mansion, the Fifth Prince graciously hosted a banquet to honor the arriving guests. Despite the simplicity of the fare, devoid even of a single drop of wine, the sincerity of the gesture was unmistakable.

"Young Master Pu, it is thanks to your timely intervention that Beining Pass was saved from imminent danger. I raise my cup to you." Han Yan lifted a cup filled with water towards Park Donghan.

The fact that the various chambers of commerce had accompanied Park Donghan on this occasion was somewhat surprising to Han Yan, recalling their previous less-than-pleasant encounters in Fang Town.

"Young Master Mu, you may not be aware, but Lu'an City is, in fact, the ancestral foundation of my Pu Family. Had you not arrived in time during the previous incursion, the number of civilians lost to the Exotic Beasts' invasion would have been unimaginable, and my family might not have been spared either. As the old saying goes, the rise and fall of the world affects everyone. We, of the Eight Great Families, dispatched our elites to aid in the defense of Lu'an City; if we, as representatives of commerce, were to stand idly by, how could we face the world?" Park Donghan spoke with a mixture of shame and deep gratitude.

Han Yan was genuinely taken aback to learn that Lu'an City was the Pu Family's ancestral base. While Park Donghan's participation might have been driven by personal considerations, his candour was far more palatable than that of sanctimonious hypocrites.

"Mr. Park speaks the truth. Should Lu'an City have fallen, it would have plunged the world into chaos—how then could we chambers of commerce hope for a favorable outcome? Young Master Mu not only compensated us generously in Fang Town by driving out the Exotic Beasts but also assisted us in taming Sword Pets. Our president, upon hearing of Young Master Mu’s benevolent deeds, was filled with admiration and thus dispatched us to render aid here." Another steward from a chamber of commerce added his voice in agreement.

Other stewards from the chambers echoed their sentiments. It was only after recognizing Han Yan's potential that these chambers had united their efforts, despite their patriotic duty to aid the Wei Country. Ultimately, it was Han Yan who had drawn them together.

"Regardless, I extend my sincerest thanks to all of you for arriving in time to offer your assistance," Han Yan expressed.

"Elders, I did not anticipate that all of you would grace us with your presence as well." Han Yan directed her words towards the elders from the Mu Family branch residing in Heishi City.

More than a year had passed since their last meeting. The elders had since achieved breakthroughs into the Sword Master Realm, while other members of the branch family had also made substantial progress. Though they still lagged behind the hired guest officials of the major chambers, their advancement was nonetheless remarkable for elders hailing from a remote, small town.

Other branch family members, with whom Han Yan had grown up, also displayed significant improvements. Even if they had not achieved great feats in the recent battles, they were undoubtedly capable of defending themselves, bringing Han Yan considerable joy and comfort.

"You are the very pride of the Mu Family in Heishi City; how could we possibly refrain from coming if you required our assistance?" The Great Elder inquired with hearty laughter.

The other brothers and sisters from the branch family looked upon Han Yan, their faces alight with pride and honor.

"Alright Han Yan, we’re all family, no need to be formal with me. Go see the other family elders and friends; this time they staked their all to lend you a hand," the Third Elder thoughtfully suggested.

He was referring to the Yuan Family Patriarch and others—over a year ago, they still viewed Han Yan with the disdainful lens reserved for playboys, but now they could only look up to her, watching her chat with chamber stewards, without even the qualification to interject.

"Thank you, Yuan Family Master, Elder Qi, Kai Yun, for everything this time." Han Yan offered a ceremonial bow to the Yuan Family Patriarch and others.

"Young Master Mu, it’s our duty when Anyun is in trouble," the Yuan Family Patriarch and others, surprised by Han Yan’s gesture, hastily rose to return the courtesy, showing none of the elder’s dignity.

"No need for those words, remember we are brothers; if not for your rescue in Exotic Beast Valley, I wouldn’t be alive now," Qi Kaiyun replied candidly. Recalling the valley incident made him emotional enough to almost drape an arm around Han Yan, but he quickly withdrew the gesture.

Han Yan smiled slightly, grasping and shaking Qi Kaiyun’s hand firmly before releasing.

Qi Kaiyun’s eyes shimmered with tears of excitement—time had passed, Han Yan remained changed, even he, the first young master of Nanxi County’s top family, could only look up to her; yet he knew Han Yan would never forget their joint struggle in Exotic Beast Valley, nor their shared life-and-death moments—unchanged was their friendship.

After catching up with the chamber stewards, elders, family members, and Qi Kaiyun, Han Yan and Ye Lanfeng ascended the highest stone pavilion in the General Mansion, gazing into the endless sky.

The Holy Court’s elixir proved potent. Ye Lanfeng, earlier inflicted heavy blows by the Black-clothed Man, and fully exerting herself throwing the Broken Killing Sword, suffered ruptured meridians and Qi Sea damage. But after taking the elixir, her meridians quickly healed, leaving no sign of injury.
