Mrs. Huo is a Crybaby Chapter 1187 Wrong Direction
Previously on Mrs. Huo is a Crybaby...
After returning to the dorm to collect her textbooks, Song Yaoyao made her way toward her classroom. She could sense the weight of various gazes and people pointing in her direction as she walked. It was easy to guess that the images of Zhong Li grabbing her at the school entrance had already circulated across the campus forum.
However, the moment her lecture concluded, she vanished. Those seeking gossip were left disappointed, unable to uncover the reality of the situation.
"Miss Song!"
Song Yaoyao found herself intercepted at the academic building. She quirked an eyebrow at Zhongli Xue, who appeared elegant and composed in a light blue gown. "Is there something you need?"
Zhongli Xue offered a soft smile, her tone remaining gentle. "I was wondering if Miss Song might be aware of Lili's current location."
"What?"
Song Yaoyao tilted her head, clutching her book as she looked at the woman with curiosity. "Lili? You mean Song Jingwan?"
"It appears Miss Song is indeed informed."
"Not at all." Song Yaoyao wagged a finger in disagreement. "To begin with, she is a grown adult. Why on earth would she report her movements to me? Furthermore, I recall she is an artist under Zhong Li's management. Since your people lost her, why are you questioning me? Miss Zhongli, this seems rather inappropriate."
"I have matters to attend to, so I will take my leave." After dropping those words, she ignored Zhongli Xue’s visibly darkening expression and began to walk away.
"Wait right there!"
Suddenly, Zhongli Xue reached out and seized Song Yaoyao’s wrist to prevent her departure.
Song Yaoyao found the situation amusing and let out a smirk. Her obsidian eyes grew so dark that they seemed to swallow all light. "Zhongli Xue, have you and your brother lost your minds? Is physical confrontation a family trait?"
"Miss Song! Do you require assistance?" Huo Si charged over immediately.
Song Yaoyao signaled for him to wait and lifted her chin toward Zhongli Xue. "Let go. Do not make me force your hand."
Her voice remained soft, yet her tone carried a freezing edge.
Zhongli Xue bit her lip as a piercing gaze locked onto her. It felt as though a sharp blade was suspended over her head, exerting an immense amount of pressure.
Involuntarily, her grip slackened, allowing Song Yaoyao to pull her hand back.
Without even glancing at her again, Song Yaoyao remarked coldly, "I assumed Miss Zhongli Xue would be the most delighted person regarding Song Jingwan’s disappearance, but it seems I misjudged the situation."
"What are you implying?"
Zhongli Xue’s face shifted as her voice turned icy, her eyes fixed intently on Song Yaoyao.
"Exactly what I said," Song Yaoyao nodded. "Farewell."
Zhongli Xue attempted to follow, but Huo Si stepped in, blocking her path and creating a barrier between her and Song Yaoyao.
...
Song Yaoyao moved away with quick strides, her eyes gleaming with newfound clarity.
Huo Jiu, who had been summoned, was puzzled. He couldn't resist asking, "Miss Song, did you discover something?"
Song Yaoyao let out a soft laugh.
"Perhaps we have been looking in the wrong place from the start. Go investigate Zhongli Xue."
Huo Jiu was taken aback. "Zhong Li’s sister?"
Song Yaoyao nodded and recounted the details of the encounter at the school.
The more Huo Jiu heard, the more he realized Song Yaoyao’s intuition was likely correct. He felt a sense of relief. "I will put someone on her trail immediately. As for Zhong Li..."
"Keep a close watch on him. We cannot dismiss the idea that his actions are merely a smokescreen to mislead everyone."
Nevertheless, it was clear that Zhongli Xue was genuinely frantic today.
From what she understood, the person Zhongli Xue truly loved was her brother, Zhong Li, as they were not related by blood. Song Jingwan, with her surgically altered face, had also been very intimate with Zhong Li. On numerous occasions at social events, Song Yaoyao had glimpsed the raw jealousy and malice in Zhongli Xue’s eyes when watching them.
Logically, she should have been thrilled by Song Jingwan’s disappearance. With her rival out of the picture, no one would stand between her and Zhong Li.
Yet, the reality was that Zhongli Xue seemed more desperate than even Zhong Li himself.
...
That evening, Huo Yunque returned home and was briefed on the developments.
He leaned down, a faint smile playing on his lips as he pinched Song Yaoyao’s cheek. "Have you made progress?"
Song Yaoyao leaned into his touch affectionately, rubbing her face against his palm. Her eyes crinkled with joy. "Yes." This unexpected breakthrough made her incredibly happy.
The man’s eyes grew dark. The girl’s skin was as delicate as jade and flushed with pink. As she nuzzled his hand like a pampered child, the atmosphere between them grew heavy and intimate.
Huo Yunque tilted her chin up and began to lean in slowly...
Bang!
The door swung open abruptly. "Miss Song, there is... uh..."
Huo Si burst in, only to freeze with his mouth hanging open. Sensing a frigid gaze directed at him, he began to shake. He lowered his head instantly. "I—I didn't see a thing!"
He scrambled away as fast as he could.
The man remained behind the sofa, still partially bent over. The girl’s face was still tilted up, looking as though she was waiting for a kiss.
Huo Yunque’s voice was deep and gravelly. "Shall we continue?"
The sound of his voice snapped Song Yaoyao back to reality.
She pushed his hand away and scrambled to her feet, her face burning bright red. "I'm going over there first!"
She bolted like a startled rabbit. Huo Yunque’s hand stayed suspended in the air for a long moment before he pressed it against his forehead, letting out a laugh filled with helpless affection.
...
Over in Country Y, the streets were lined with mist-shrouded trees. The walkways were nearly empty, save for a gaunt woman wandering aimlessly with a scarf masking half her face.
She looked as though she had been walking for hours; even her hair was damp from the fog.
Song Jingwan had no idea how she ended up there. It felt as if she had woken from a long dream only to find herself discarded on a random street corner like a piece of trash.
She wandered without purpose until her legs gave out. Finally, she slumped onto the pavement, staring blankly at the few passersby. The distinct features of the foreign residents made her heart race with anxiety.
"Hey! You! You can't sit there. Move along! Don't block the entrance to our shop!"
As the mist began to lift, the storefronts along the street started to open for business.
Chased away, Song Jingwan resumed her dazed wandering through the streets.
Suddenly—
She let out a scream and spun around, her eyes wide with shock.
A burly man smelling of liquor stood there with a wicked grin. He pulled his hand back and let out a whistle. "Oh! Sexy!"
What a creep! Song Jingwan clenched her teeth and pulled her scarf tighter, attempting to flee. However, the intoxicated man had no intention of letting her go. He reached out with a massive hand and grabbed her. "Hey! Want to have some fun?"
"No!"
Song Jingwan pressed her lips together. She suspected her current predicament was somehow orchestrated by Song Yaoyao. Without her bodyguards to protect her, she didn't dare provoke this harasser further.
"Where am I?" she asked, her voice coming out in a raspy whisper.
"Huh?" The man chuckled drunkenly. "What kind of question is that? You're in Country Y, obviously!"
Country Y...
Song Jingwan’s world suddenly went dark as a traumatic memory resurfaced. Her entire frame began to shake violently, as if she were suffering a seizure.
"Hey? You okay? Hello?"
The man was startled. Seeing her convulse, he immediately released her and backed away. Song Jingwan didn't respond, lost in her own terror. The man cursed under his breath and tried to wipe his hands off on his clothes.
He seemed to think she was carrying some sort of disease.
