Song Yu convinced her allies to let her play along with Auntie Cao's scheme to lure out a bigger threat, then staged a tearful exit from Lu Zhu’s study. Lu Jiang caught her as she feigned fainting at her room door. Old Master Qin exhausted himself performing acupuncture on Madam President, later revealing her kidnapping involved powerful hypnosis by his junior brother Liu Yu; Qiao Nian now waits for her to awaken.

Shen Mei appeared to have been lost in a prolonged dream. There, cerebral palsy plagued her, and a series of ordeals unfolded. She felt utterly exhausted. Upon waking, she discovered Lina and Qiao Nian watching over her bedside.

“Mom!” Lina rushed forward the moment she noticed Shen Mei awake. “How do you feel? Any discomfort anywhere?”

“I’m fine now.” Shen Mei then turned to Qiao Nian seated nearby and smiled warmly. “Thank you, Nian Nian. Without your and your grandfather’s help, I might have stayed crippled for life.”

Qiao Nian shook her head with a smile. “Madam President, no need for that. It’s only right for us to assist.”

Shen Mei propped herself up, her eyes lingering on Qiao Nian’s face. With a gentle smile, she said, “Nian Nian, I just had a very long dream. Bits from the kidnapping twenty years back are coming back to me. Not sure if it’ll be useful to you.”

Qiao Nian had simply hoped Shen Mei would confirm forgetting the kidnapping herself. A surprise like this was unexpected. Holding back her excitement, she nodded. “Please go ahead, Madam President.”

“It’s like I recall being bound in a tiny room. Nobody came to see me.” As she recounted, Shen Mei sank deeper into recollection.

Back then, Shen Mei had been confined in a cramped room. The windows sat too high for her to glimpse the outside world. With her mind foggy, escape never crossed her thoughts. She only wept for her father.

Eventually, a man entered. He approached her, offering comfort, and even freed her. Afterward, she overheard someone addressing him as “Liu Yu”.

Following that, Shen Mei got shipped off to Europe, where she encountered Europe’s President.

Yet, the details of her kidnapping remained a total blank to Shen Mei.

“Madam, we’re incredibly grateful. Your words mean a lot to us.” Qiao Nian clasped Shen Mei’s hand, her tone earnest.

Shen Mei’s brows furrowed faintly as she gazed at Qiao Nian with regret. “If I hadn’t gotten sick then, I could’ve aided you more.”

Qiao Nian explained to Shen Mei the possibility of hypnosis. It looked like Shen Mei’s recollections stemmed from after Uncle Liu Yu hypnotized her.

Likely, after escorting the hypnotized Shen Mei away, those individuals accidentally uttered “Liu Yu”, which was the sole name she retained.

Once she expressed thanks to Madam President, Qiao Nian departed first due to other pressing matters.

Qiao Nian now felt absolutely sure her Martial Uncle Liu Yu knew details about the kidnapping from over two decades prior.

That evening, Qiao Nian got a call from her eldest brother, summoning her back to the Lu family. Upon arrival, she found her eldest brother, second brother, fourth brother, and Song Yu all gathered in the study, awaiting her.

Lu Zhu’s eyes scanned the room before settling on Song Yu’s face. “Song Yu, I’ve located your family.”

Song Yu’s face remained impassive. “Is it Song Xue? Did you uncover anything useful from her?”

Lu Zhu denied it with a headshake. “Not Song Xue—I mean Auntie Cao. She shares your bloodline. You two are family.”

While speaking, Lu Zhu passed over the DNA test reports for Auntie Cao and Song Yu.

Shock froze Song Yu in place. Disbelieving, she didn’t reach for the papers right away.

Qiao Nian snatched the report from Lu Zhu, skimmed its results, then offered it to Song Yu.

Trembling, Song Yu accepted it. In the Lu family, Auntie Cao had always treated her best. The idea of blood ties with her was unbelievable.

Song Yu drew in a sharp breath before opening the report. Seeing the proof, her complexion drained of color.

“Why?” Song Yu’s brows knit together, confusion swirling in her eyes. Her voice quivered. “She’s obviously my family and treats me so kindly. She must know who I am. So they orchestrated it all from way back—starting when I was begging on the streets and Mom took me in.”

Song Yu raised her gaze to Lu Zhu across from her. “I recall Song Xue mentioning they deliberately placed me in the Lu family!”
