MIGHT AS WELL BE OP Chapter 895: Suggestion
Previously on MIGHT AS WELL BE OP...
A heavy, profound silence filled the room as the group sat in stunned speechlessness. No one could find the right words or figure out how to respond. Their emotions were a tangled mess within their chests, leaving only a thick, oppressive quiet behind. Although Charles Evander had introduced them to Aura Nova only a few hours prior, it hadn't taken them long to grasp her character.
She was vibrant, cheerful, and incredibly easy to talk to—the kind of woman whose very presence lifted the spirits of those around her. Looking at Aura Nova, no one would have guessed that she carried such a tragic history hidden beneath her bright smile.
They attempted to envision Aura Nova in tears, but the image simply wouldn't form. The concept felt alien. After all, Aura Nova herself had admitted that that specific night was the only time she had ever wept in her life. A deep sense of sympathy and pity welled up within them. With such painful scars carved into her heart, finding the courage to love again would surely be a monumental task.
On the contrary, love remained a fickle and uncontrollable force. One does not choose the object of their affection or the timing of their feelings. It occurs spontaneously, often catching one off guard. Even if the path seemed difficult, they silently hoped she would eventually encounter someone worthy—someone who could provide the perfect ending she earned.
“There is no need for this tragic atmosphere, as if I have passed away. It was merely a heartbreak and the end of a relationship. Many others have endured far worse,” Aura Nova remarked, a faint smile touching her lips. Her voice was light and dismissive, as if the matter were trivial. Her involvement with Alexandra had concluded over a century ago, and the love she once felt had long since dissolved into the passage of time.
To the men in the room, Alexandra was nothing short of a fool. Aura Nova possessed top-tier beauty that was captivating without being stifling; only Vega surpassed her in looks among those present. Furthermore, even without her mana core, Aura Nova still had Rain by her side. Even if Alexandra's words had been a facade and his heart had been filled with terror, he should have remained by her side, at least for a time.
What level of cowardice and hatred would drive a man to vanish at the first sign of trouble?
Vega stepped forward with graceful, unhurried movements. She pulled Aura Nova into an embrace and spoke in a gentle, soothing voice, “I realize you might have moved past this already, but I still want to give you a hug.” She lightly patted Aura Nova’s back, offering a warm and comforting touch.
Aura Nova returned the hug without hesitation, smiling. “Thank you,” she whispered, her voice sincere and steady.
While Vega had not experienced a tragic life like some of the others, she could still empathize with Aura Nova's journey. One does not need to suffer personally to understand another's pain. Sometimes, pure empathy is sufficient.
Veronica was the next to step up, her face calm but determined. Placing a firm hand on Aura Nova’s shoulder, she declared with absolute confidence, “My best friend and I are making it our mission to find you the ideal man.”
Aura Nova’s lips gave a slight twitch. Just because she had shared her past didn't mean she was suddenly searching for a partner. She was perfectly content on her own; it wasn't as if she needed a man to survive or find happiness.
“I am quite alright, truly. You don't need to go to such trouble,” she said, attempting to wave off the suggestion. However, it was clear that Veronica's mind was already made up.
“Don’t worry about it. We will begin with the absolute best,” Veronica added cheerfully. “Anthony has seven men serving under him, all of whom are incredibly powerful and handsome. We shall start with them and see if love follows.” She beamed, entirely serious. To her, leaving a sister in need was not an option. This was a moment for girls to help girls, and she was committed to the cause.
Anthony raised an eyebrow upon hearing his subordinates mentioned. His sky-blue eyes flickered toward Vega, knowing she must have been the one to tell Veronica about his ten followers. Vega simply shrugged in response to his gaze, offering no words or explanations.
Altheria, the girlfriend of Aaaninja, wasn't sure how to react to the unfolding scene. She stayed close to Aaaninja, feeling it would be inappropriate to approach Aura Nova with forced cheer at such a moment. For the time being, she remained a quiet observer.
“What Veronica says is true,” Anthony interjected, his voice relaxed. “The men under my command are the best of the best. I am certain your large heart will find a connection with one of them.” He gave Aura Nova a wink and a thumbs-up, clearly find the situation amusing.
Aura Nova let out a soft sigh of resignation. She realized that regardless of what she said, she couldn't dodge the matchmaking schemes Vega and Veronica were already plotting.
“Are you able to summon them here now?” Veronica asked, her white eyes moving from Aura Nova to Anthony.
Anthony gave a short nod before briefly closing his eyes. When he opened them, he replied calmly, “I cannot. They are currently in the middle of seclusion. Perhaps another time.”
Vega and Veronica nodded, understanding the situation. Even though the men were Anthony’s subordinates, they respected that he couldn't just interrupt their training sessions on a whim.
‘They have already reached planetary-level battle prowess… quite impressive,’ Anthony mused to himself, a small smile playing on his face.
“I find it hard to comprehend how someone can stay with another for three full years and not develop even a shred of genuine emotion,” Lucian remarked while staring at the ceiling, his expression pensive. “Even if the whole thing was an act, still…”
Aaaninja, who had been quiet until now, exhaled a soft sigh. “I believe this is why humanity is constantly compared to demons when discussing greed, scheming, and heartlessness,” he paused for a second before adding, “But I must say, your strength is impressive. Not just in terms of physical power or magic, but emotionally. Had I been in your shoes, I would have ended Alexandra long ago.” His tone wasn't threatening; it was as neutral and calm as always.
Aura Nova smiled at Aaaninja's comment. It wasn't the first time someone had said that to her. Valak, Charles Evander, and even Rain had expressed the same sentiment. However, they had all held back from killing Alexandra for her sake because she had requested they leave him be.
“Perhaps I will do that after my next relationship fails,” Aura Nova joked softly. “If that one turns out to be a lie as well.” Her jest drew some laughter, finally breaking the heavy tension in the room.
Lucian’s dark eyes moved from the ceiling to Kingsley, then to Aura Nova, and back to Kingsley. With a mischievous grin, he suggested, “Since both of you are currently single, why not consider this ramen timeline as your first date?”
The entire group looked at Lucian as if he were a complete idiot. Aura Nova laughed out loud and shook her head. “I appreciate the suggestion, but I’ll pass,” she answered.
Kingsley remained silent, his face as stoic and unreadable as ever. Even without a verbal response, everyone knew his answer was exactly the same as Aura Nova’s.
