MIGHT AS WELL BE OP Chapter 893: Backstory-1

Previously on MIGHT AS WELL BE OP...
Anthony and his companions arrived on the Celestial Planet, teleporting into a grand chamber within a castle. Lucian and Aura Nova expressed their disappointment at being brought directly to a room instead of exploring the planet. Aaaninja explained that the Celestial race, and other top races, reside in self-created solar systems sealed within separate planes of existence to manage population and space. Anthony confirmed this with his Sense Dome and observed Aaaninja's parents, Zachary and Nyxss, healing themselves in a milky liquid. The group then encountered Aaaninja's bodyguard before meeting Altheria, Aaaninja's unconcerned and equally powerful partner, who then joined them.

“Does anyone else feel like this is a group date?” Lucian remarked suddenly, his comment instantly grabbing the attention of the entire party.

“In what way?” Anthony questioned, lifting a brow in curiosity. Lucian didn't miss a beat before explaining, “Well, I’m here with my girlfriend, Aaaninja has Altheria, and you’re with Vega.” He hesitated for a second, shifting his gaze toward Aura Nova and Kingsley. “What about you two? Do you have partners?”

The atmosphere turned heavy and awkward in a heartbeat. Kingsley merely gave a calm shake of his head. “I don't,” he stated flatly. “What is the point of being with someone if there is no love? I am perfectly content remaining single until that changes.” The group nodded along, finding his logic sound, before their eyes naturally drifted toward Aura Nova. She remained quiet for a beat longer than the rest.

Noticing her silence, Lucian spoke up with a gentle, sincere tone. “You don't have to say anything. Your privacy is yours, and I apologize if I overstepped.” He offered the apology with the grace of a true gentleman, ensuring there was no lingering discomfort.

Aura Nova offered a thin smile before she finally spoke. “I was in a relationship once. I have been in love, just like the six of you.” Her sky-blue eyes moved across Aaaninja, Lucian, Anthony, Vega, Veronica, and Altheria. “But he left me.” Her voice grew quiet for a moment, as if she were reaching back for memories that had been buried deep in her mind.

Aura Nova’s childhood was devoid of parental affection. In the crowded orphanage where she was raised, there were simply too many children for any individual to receive special treatment. Even the other children failed to form real connections, as everyone was consumed by training from the moment their powers underwent awakening at age ten. It was only after her awakening, when the world discovered her Omniedit ability and her peerless talent, that people began to notice her. Suddenly, she was surrounded by care, praise, and an overwhelming amount of interest.

However, Aura Nova found no value in any of it. To her, these gestures were hollow and fraudulent. No one had spared her a glance when she was a nobody, yet now everyone was suddenly infatuated with her. Though she interacted with many, she never formed true friendships or pledged herself to any Sect or power. Her Omniedit ability allowed her to perform impossible tasks, like transforming common stones into mana crystals; consequently, she never lacked wealth or required the protection of others.

Inevitably, pressure mounted. The world was unwilling to let such a genius walk free. The prevailing sentiment was that if they couldn't possess her, she shouldn't exist at all. When they finally pushed too far, Aura Nova erased them. She didn't strike like a hidden assassin in the night; she obliterated them in the light of day, making a public example of them as a warning to the world.

Eventually, she was taken in by Rain, the leader of the Older Generation from her birthplace, the Dusk Planet. She wasn't his servant or his subordinate; he simply provided her a place. Under his tutelage, Aura Nova began to comprehend the harsh mechanics of reality.

She learned that people approach you for only two reasons. The first is common: you are a tool for their goals, an agenda, or a specific purpose. The second is a rarity: they actually care for you or appreciate you for your true self.

Because she had been besieged by people seeking favors since she was ten, Aura Nova instinctively placed everyone she met into the first category. In her mind, people only spoke to her because she was useful.

As the years passed, her perspective matured and her grasp of the world grew more profound. With that maturity came the development of emotions, and eventually, love followed.

Aura Nova had fallen in love.

The object of her affection was a man who was both handsome and gifted. However, regardless of his talent, he was nothing compared to her. No matter his good looks, his charm paled in the shadow of Aura Nova’s presence.

The saying “love is blind” could not have been more accurate.

Aura Nova was the peak of the Dusk Planet—confident, stunning, wealthy, and remarkably talented. Her association with Rain alone made her the most sought-after woman, even without her personal merits.

If a woman like that were to approach a man and confess her feelings, who would dare refuse? Who would claim they didn't feel the same? No one. Even if those feelings weren't there before, they would manifest the moment Aura Nova spoke. A current girlfriend? She would be cast aside. A wife? Divorce would follow, or perhaps something worse.

This was the situation for the man Aura Nova chose; Alexandra.

He accepted her feelings immediately, and they remained a couple for over three years. Knowing Aura Nova loved to read, Alexandra made a habit of buying her book after book, as it was her primary hobby and her only escape when they were apart.

Throughout those three years, Alexandra exploited every advantage that came with Aura Nova’s status. He was clever enough never to ask for things directly; he didn't have to. Simply being her partner pushed him to the very top of the Dusk Planet’s social hierarchy. Even though he never made demands, Aura Nova gave him everything—blindly and without hesitation.

But like many such tales, tragedy eventually arrived.

Aura Nova’s mana core shattered during one of her training sessions.

Following her usual habit, she confided in Alexandra. To her utter bewilderment, his response was one of fury. He ended their relationship that very day. After unleashing a barrage of cruel, degrading, and insulting words, Alexandra walked away, ending their three-year bond in an instant.

He left because he followed a cold, universal truth: a damaged mana core was beyond repair. Throughout history, such a feat had never been accomplished. Aura Nova was a genius, but even she could not break the fundamental laws of the universe.

Alexandra made the choice he deemed most logical. He cut ties before Aura Nova’s status collapsed, knowing her fall would inevitably drag him down with her.

It was the calculated move of a man who never felt love, one who only stayed as long as it was profitable.

Aura Nova, who had spent her life guarding against those who wanted to use her, failed to recognize the master liar who had been by her side for three years.

Love truly was blind… or perhaps, it was simply blinding.
