MIGHT AS WELL BE OP Chapter 1347: At The Inn
Previously on MIGHT AS WELL BE OP...
As Anthony paid for the rooms, he stepped into his own room, intending to relax, but before he could even close the door, the others barged in. How could they just go and rest or sleep like Anthony was planning to do? Their lives were on the line at the moment; they couldn’t just act like nothing was happening here.
Seeing them enter, Anthony sighed as he shook his head. He turned from the door, walked towards the bed, and sat down. The others sat on the couch within the room. As it was a top-tier inn, it had enough couches for everyone to sit.
"Explain to us what is happening," Chaos Betroth spoke the moment she sat down. One moment, she had been teleported against her will as the Eternal Apexes were about to make a move; the next, she was back, and the Eternal Apexes had done nothing.
Anthony sighed as he spoke, "All I can say is, we are safe for now. This is the River Of Night Territory. Here, no other force can act carelessly." His tone was filled with intrigue.
Tory Hale sighed as he stated, "Although we are safe for now, we can’t stay here forever. Even if we decide to stay in the River Of Night Territory forever, the River Of Night Territory would still be pressured by the others to chase us out." His face turned into a frown.
"That’s if they don’t kill us first and take whatever reward Anthony has on him," Chu Feng stated as he rubbed the ring around his index finger.
Anthony’s eyes shifted towards the ring. He could tell that Chu Feng was considering calling upon the Immortal, or whoever was within the ring, to help. Which was probably possible, as if the being had been above the Eternal Apex Rank before they died, then handling multiple Eternal Apexes should be easy; although that depended on how much strength this immortal man or woman could use.
"If we return to the Sect, the Sect would be wiped out because of us," Lora Vake stated, her words causing everyone to frown even more.
Although they could use some artifact to teleport, people would simply chase them to the Sect. It was simply that easy. Although they remembered the Higher One who wanted to become Anthony’s Eternal Half, they didn’t even consider it, as one Eternal Apex couldn’t take on hundreds.
Anthony’s eyes shifted to Chaos Betroth, who seemed to be lost in thought, as he asked.
"How many days has it been since we entered the Sleeping Hollow?" His tone remained calm regardless of the situation.
Chaos Betroth’s eyes shifted towards Anthony as she replied, "A week and a half. Why do you ask?"
"Nothing really, just wanted to know," Anthony replied with an indifferent shrug of his shoulders.
Jerry, who had been silent, turned towards Anthony as he spoke, "What if we hide inside that secret realm you sent us to? Even that Eternal Apex from before couldn’t find us," he suggested.
At Jerry’s words, everyone arched an eyebrow in confusion.
"What Eternal Apex from before?" Chaos Betroth asked, her eyes shifting to Jerry.
Jerry didn’t hide anything. He proceeded to explain how they had encountered disciples from Dreaming Nightmare, how Anthony had killed them, and then Nature’s Savant’s sudden appearance.
At his words, everyone became speechless. They couldn’t help but wonder how an Eternal Apex had entered the Sleeping Hollow, and even more surprising was the fact that Anthony and Jerry had made it out alive.
Chaos Betroth’s eyes turned to Anthony. She didn’t believe what Jerry said about Anthony escaping and the Eternal Apex simply leaving. The time difference between Jerry staying within the secret realm and the time Anthony joined him didn’t suggest that Anthony had run away.
Seeing Chaos Betroth’s gaze, Anthony smiled as he spoke, "The Eternal Apex was from the Vanishing Reapers Organization."
At his words, everyone was immediately bamboozled, their eyes and ears shaking at what they had just heard. Chaos Betroth explained to the group the whole matter concerning the Vanishing Reapers, and she, the Core Elders, and the Sect Master hadn’t really been bothered about it due to the limitations of the Sleeping Hollow.
"Who would have thought that the Asura Clan would pay with a Genesis Grade artifact and force an Eternal Apex to make a move?" Chaos Betroth murmured. She had miscalculated, and not only her, but the entire upper echelon of the Null Sect had as well.
She wasn’t really surprised by Nature’s Savant bypassing the Underground Tomb’s rules, as artifacts possessed different types of abilities.
Anthony told them about the poison that had been used on him on the first day they lodged here, and how he had handled the culprit. The Above disciples could only approve of Anthony’s methods, as even they hadn’t sensed anything at all.
Chaos Betroth’s eyes shifted towards Anthony. Although she didn’t speak, her eyes conveyed all the questions she held in her mind. Anthony understood what her gaze meant. She was asking if the Eternal Apex was still alive and whether there was anything else they needed to know.
"I handled it," Anthony spoke with a calm smile on his face.
Hearing Anthony’s words, Chaos Betroth’s eyes flickered for a moment. Unlike the naive Above disciples, she immediately understood that Anthony had killed the Eternal Apex. Although it might seem impossible, it wasn’t when it came to the boy before her.
Anthony couldn’t help but smile even more as he saw that Chaos Betroth understood what he meant. They held each other’s gaze for a moment, as though they were communicating mentally, but they weren’t.
After a moment, Chaos Betroth’s concern and uneasiness vanished instantly as she came to a certain conclusion, her entire demeanor changing for a moment. As for the conclusion she had reached, it was simply that Anthony wouldn’t be so unbothered and confident if he didn’t have a trump card up his sleeve.
After all, it appeared as though the boy was ready to take on everyone before the River Of Night Organization interfered.
A smirk appeared on Chaos Betroth’s lips. Since Anthony was confident in taking everyone on, she would join him. Of course, she wouldn’t be able to take on even a half-dying Eternal Apex, but as for everyone else below, she was ready to risk her life for it.
Yes, she could just stay back in that secret realm Anthony had just taken them to, but no, she wouldn’t do that. Right from the early onset, she had been searching for ways to increase her comprehension of the Universal Law Of Chaos.
She had been looking for a big battle to participate in, she had been looking for destruction, war, bloodshed, and death. It was the fastest way to increase her comprehension of the Universal Law Of Chaos, and now, it was sitting right in front of her.
Of course, she certainly couldn’t take on all Progenitor Rankers from every Organization, but it didn’t matter. All that mattered was the path forward. And as for the blowback on the Null Sect, at this moment, nothing they did wouldn’t affect the Sect. It was simply a matter of time.
So, even if they ran, did nothing, and just hid, these people wouldn’t take a step back.
