MIGHT AS WELL BE OP Chapter 1296: Poison
Previously on MIGHT AS WELL BE OP...
Anthony and the rest of the Above disciples continued walking around, each of them talking about random things as they explored various scenic spots and admired the surrounding views, but alas, night eventually fell, and they had to return to the Inn they were staying at. To Anthony’s disappointment, there was no face-slapping incident or any arrogant Young Master who came to disturb them.
It seemed that with people from the entire Sathor Grand Region gathering, various powerhouses had warned their geniuses not to act too arrogantly, or they might bring about their own demise. After all, a random clan they casually offended might turn out to be an Ancient Organization or a hidden powerhouse.
Everyone had already returned to their rooms for the night. Anthony sat by the window as he gazed at the dark sky for a moment, then shook his head. He found himself liking this Upper Galaxy more and more, especially the sheer variety of people, races.
He waved his hand, and a screen appeared, and on it, Vega could be seen cultivating with her eyes closed, as around her, other slaves like her were also cultivating. Anthony couldn’t help but wonder how Vega would be feeling about cultivation, after all, she had almost never cultivated a day in her life, always leaving that particular work to her clone. It was rather amusing to think that she was finally cultivating personally instead of simply relying on another version of herself to handle everything.
Anthony dismissed his screen and rose from his chair as he went to his bed and simply slept off. The next day came quickly as the sun rose above the horizon. It was 9 a.m. in the morning, and the Inn served complimentary breakfast by 10 a.m. Anthony stepped into the hallway, and there he could see other Cultivators from various unknown Clans and Organizations, each of varying races, heading towards the staircase for breakfast.
Not that any of them needed it, but they were all in a new environment, so everyone was trying to see the outside world as much as possible.
"Good morning, Anthony," one of the Above disciples greeted. Anthony greeted back as they all greeted each other.
Anthony’s eyes shifted towards Chu Feng. Although the guy was still at the Foundation Star Monarch Realm, he had grown stronger. Clearly, he had started practicing with the manual he got yesterday for a few copper coins, and the gains were already showing.
Together, they headed towards the space that was arranged for breakfast. As for the Chaos Betroth, nobody knew where she was, but she didn’t need to be present to remind everyone that they weren’t leaving the Inn today.
’So tomorrow we head to The Ungrounded Tomb,’ Anthony thought to himself in silence as he waited for his food to be served.
As the food was served, Anthony immediately started digging in, but the moment he took the first bite of his food, he immediately paused as the system chimed.
[Ding]
[The Host has been Poisoned]
[Ding]
[The Host possesses a Poison Body and is immune to all Poison in existence]
Anthony was speechless. Through his Poison Body, he knew the effect of the poison. It was a poison that was meant to stay in his system for 48 hours before finally showing its effects, by reducing the poisoned person to nothing but a mass of flesh. Meaning he was going to die within The Ungrounded Tomb, a perfect death.
’It’s been a while since I used my Poison Body ability,’ Anthony thought as his sky-blue eyes immediately shifted towards the woman who had served the food.
The woman worked naturally, just like every other worker present. Of course, she had sent Anthony two glances, one before she served the food, and the second after he took a bite of his food. Of course, Anthony hadn’t suspected her or anything, after all, she wasn’t the only one looking at him.
Various men and women from various races were all stealing glances at him for his ridiculously handsome face, which Anthony was already used to, so he ignored it all.
Anthony immediately used Authority Of Information to pull information on the woman. And she turned out to be a Kitsune who had disguised herself as a Human, and was a member of the Vanishing Reaper Organization. She had arrived here just yesterday, replaced the original worker by killing her and shapeshifting into her.
’I would never have expected that the Vanishing Reapers would begin their mission here,’ he mused as he continued to eat the poisoned food, even the drinks were poisoned too.
But since he was immune to poison, there was no need to stop eating. As for the woman, Anthony didn’t do anything drastic. People were eating here, and there was no need to draw attention to himself like some Xianxia protagonist. He would simply poison her, but not just her; he was going to poison her entire bloodline.
Anthony was simply that unforgiving when it came to anyone who made a move on his life. He had no intention of allowing an enemy who had already attempted to kill him to walk away without consequences. Nor wait for someone’s siblings or child to come seek revenge.
Luckily for Anthony, the Kitsune left just barely over half an hour after serving a few guests and sending one last glance at him to make sure he was still eating. She was going to report to her superiors, undoubtedly believing that the poison had already taken effect and that Anthony would soon become another nameless casualty.
As Anthony was done eating, there was no need to wait anymore. He simply snapped his fingers, and the next moment, an orb of green blood appeared before him as he created the Kitsune’s bloodline through Thought Conception.
Anthony used the Law Of Illusion to mask what he was doing. He erased the resonance to avoid people like Tory and other cultivators from looking in his direction.
He raised a hand and dropped a drop of his own blood, now poisoned, upon the green blood. The moment the two bloods met, the green blood itself began to wither out of existence as though it was decaying, and with that, it disappeared in finality.
And just like that, Anthony had poisoned the Kitsune and everybody that was connected to her by blood: parents, siblings, cousins, and whatnot. All wiped out. All of them dropping dead wherever they were. Of course, this would signal the Vanishing Reapers that Anthony was onto them, but it changed nothing.
Anthony was sort of looking forward to fighting the entire Vanishing Reaper Organization. He wanted to see what made them so feared throughout the Sathor Grand Region.
With that done, Anthony simply engaged his fellow Above disciples in discussion as they talked about geniuses that were even more outrageous than even Tory and Lora Vake. Their conversation drifted between different names, different organizations, and the various monstrous talents that had gathered for the upcoming expedition.
"I will be returning to my room to make one final preparation before tomorrow," Tory spoke as he rose from his seat with calm ease.
Lin turned towards him as he spoke, "what preparation can you even make today that you haven’t made since"
Tory simply shook his head, not giving an answer, but as he stood, Chu Feng also rose to his feet, after all, he had a new manual to comprehend. And with that, everyone rose to their feet one after the other.
Anthony simply shook his head and teleported directly towards his room. Since he had nothing doing, he decided to push other Laws like Greater Law Of Time, Law Of Space, Universal Law Of Fate, and the rest to the best his mental capacity would allow him.
Of course, Greater Laws like Law Of Time and Law Of Space touched the Embodiment Stage instantly with ease. With Fate barely crossing the thirty percent mark, it was simply too hard to push.
The Law Of Fate was vastly more complicated than the others, and every increase seemed to require exponentially greater mental strength, making it difficult for Anthony to advance it at the same pace.
With that, he simply climbed onto his bed and slept off, as he decided to spend the entire day sleeping. Tomorrow would be the beginning of their journey into The Ungrounded Tomb.
