MIGHT AS WELL BE OP Chapter 1145: Human

An alternative, arguably simpler, path would have been to yield, perhaps surrendering to a specific organization or influential family. This would allow for information gathering and a gradual ascent through the ranks, much like an ordinary individual navigating the Upper Galaxy. Such a course would also provide a degree of protection and guidance.
Yet, the Demon King and the God, beings with over a billion years of existence, possessed immense pride. While the Demon King might not overtly display it, their self-assurance in their ability to always overcome, rise, and conquer was profoundly ingrained. Their prolonged reign, one over a galaxy, the other over a realm constantly defending against that galaxy, had solidified this deep-seated confidence.
Could anyone truly imagine these two entities, after dwelling in supreme authority for so long, setting aside their pride to submit to another? It seemed highly improbable.
They understood that upon ascension, they would revert to being insignificant, their formidable power diminishing to a measurable level, placing them at the lowest rung of society. However, this prospect held no fear for them. Just as they had clawed their way from obscure origins to their current status, they believed they could replicate this feat within the Upper Galaxies through sheer determination and perseverance.
With sufficient tenacity, willpower, and grit, they would not merely survive; they were destined to conquer.
They were prepared to risk everything for their continued ascent toward the ultimate existence. Contentment at reaching the zenith of a lower galaxy was simply not an option. Greater power awaited, more exhilarating experiences beckoned, and countless adversaries remained to be overcome.
Powerful beings like the Spirit King were aware of the Upper Galaxies. Individuals of his caliber recognized its existence but chose not to escape the confines of the Acarnis Galaxy. The rationale was straightforward: within this galaxy, they reigned supreme – the apex predators, the dominant forces. Ascending, however, carried a lethal risk, with survival chances estimated at over ninety percent.
Consequently, they remained, extending their lifespans with artifacts and vital resources, having accepted their reality and halted their evolutionary progress.
Both the God and the Demon King, much like Anthony, had concluded that talent was the prerequisite for receiving the 'Calling' necessary for Ascension.
The Demon King's knowledge stemmed from witnessing an ascension billions of years prior – a human achieving this very feat. This event revealed the pathway. Driven by this revelation, the Demon King attempted to latch onto the ascending human, only to be thwarted by an overwhelming, inexplicable force at the time.
Since that incident, the Demon King had not detected any further ascensions to the Upper Galaxies, indicating that even extraordinary, genius-level talent was insufficient on its own. Were it so, he, the most supremely talented Demon, would have long since received his own Calling.
If another demon of comparable talent existed, he would have nurtured them, aiding their Ascension. Alas, it seemed the Abyssal Realm had produced him, a demon of unparalleled talent, and ceased further creations at his level, perhaps awaiting his demise or departure from the Acarnis Galaxy.
As for the God's awareness of Ascension, his vast dominion over an entire galaxy granted him access to knowledge far exceeding ordinary comprehension.
This prompts a question: did the Spirit King, revered as the First Spirit of the Acarnis Galaxy, truly lack the requisite talent for the Calling? Or did he receive it but discern the futility of attempting to ascend and confront the unknown beyond?
The Demon King's 'gaze' turned skyward, a soft, melodic hum emanating from him as if in joyful song, while a 'smile' graced his featureless visage. He was elated, overwhelmingly so, for he was now one step closer to his ultimate objective, a position farther than he had ever reached in his entire existence.
Should he not achieve success, he would simply persist, for as long as life remained, he would never cease striving. Indeed, his resolve and fortitude had blazed through countless eons, never once wavering in his entire existence – such was the immensity of his determination and unwavering spirit.
'Is he... cheerfully humming?' the divine projection mused, observing the Demon King with a touch of astonishment. The Demon King's candid display of emotion, his willingness to smile, laugh, and jest as if he were not a supreme entity within the Acarnis Galaxy, left the projection utterly captivated.
After all, the God of the Divinora Galaxy conducted himself as a true sovereign, exuding an aura of command at all times and issuing decrees with an overwhelming presence. Moreover, the Angels seldom encountered him, meeting him only during moments of utmost consequence.
Contrasting with his own rigid, unyielding, and stern demeanor, the Demon King was merely a relaxed soul who preferred to unwind. If a matter did not pertain to his ascension objectives, one might not even be aware of his presence. Furthermore, his notoriety arose primarily from Lilith's demise, compelling him to act, and from his strong intuition that Anthony was poised to be the next Ascender after that ancient Human.
