Mech: Shattering of the Galaxy Chapter 1489: 5: Mind-Numbing Maneuvers

A hint of displeasure, possibly the first time heard from that icy voice, flickered in Mu Fan’s eyes. He turned to meet Lu Qingxue’s defiant gaze.
“The path ahead is fraught with uncertainty. The odds of success might be less than one in ten thousand, and we could perish in the Star Sea. I cannot gamble with your lives so carelessly.”
Mu Fan’s words were earnest, yet Lu Qingxue simply blinked her glittering eyes, her lips pressed into a thin line.
This Valkyrie, usually embodying delicate beauty and cool elegance, was now displaying a touch of a maiden’s pout.
Lu Qingxue’s frown was directed at Mu Fan, her exquisite face broadcasting her discontent.
This was her way of expressing her unhappiness.
However, it was precisely this side of Lu Qingxue that rendered Mu Fan most vulnerable.
Because she had heard his every word, yet she offered no response.
His reflection was visible in her cold eyes, her pupils’ light wavering with his speech.
But… she remained utterly silent!
When Lu Qingxue became stubborn, she was even more unyielding than he was.
This made any attempt at persuasion futile.
As Mu Fan’s gaze met Lu Qingxue’s, he noticed the Valkyrie biting her lower lip with her delicate teeth.
Lu Qingxue appeared even more vexed, yet still uttered no sound.
Her fair skin, tinged with a delicate red, emanated a subtle fragrance, reminiscent of a snow lotus.
Being in the company of such a breathtaking beauty should have been a pleasure, but at that moment, Mu Fan felt utterly bewildered!
“I…” Mu Fan’s lips moved, his hand beginning to rise.
“Hmph.” A sound of displeasure, like an ice bead striking jade, escaped Lu Qingxue as she turned her head, exposing her gracefully curved, fair neck.
“Where is Mu Fan… Mu Fan… Damn it, what is this dragon doing!”
White Hair, having swiftly defeated the fatty in ten rounds, had come to the bridge intending to discuss the battle strategies relayed by Qi Longxiang with Mu Fan.
With so many plans presented, it was time to select the most suitable course of action given their current predicament, wasn’t it?
However, upon entering the bridge’s upper level, White Hair’s attention was immediately drawn not to the command cabin ahead, but through the expansive window, to the Mechanical Giant Dragon, [Evil Wing], peeking out from the lower-level hangar.
At that instant, the dragon seemed to fear detection, even raising a wing to obscure its face while pressing its massive head close to the window.
Perhaps the dragon believed its actions were undetectable.
But in White Hair’s view, this blatant act…
Only someone blind wouldn’t notice!
Was this dragon actually spying?
It even had the presence of mind to cover its face with a wing.
Did this dim-witted dragon truly possess no awareness of its own immense size?
Such a colossal dragon head, yet it was using a wing to block light, almost completely obscuring the right side of the circular corridor.
Should this creature be commended for its burgeoning intelligence, or ridiculed for its profound foolishness?
Perhaps [Evil Wing] was too engrossed in its peeping, or maybe White Hair’s approach was remarkably stealthy. Regardless, before White Hair could voice his surprise, the dragon remained oblivious to its exposed rear.
Then, following White Hair’s surprised exclamation…
[Evil Wing]’s enormous form jolted as if to recoil, causing its neck to snap upwards.
Bang!
The dragon’s head made forceful contact with the ceiling.
The sheer velocity of the impact left a faint imprint even on the super-precision steel ceiling of the Dawn Battleship.
“Ow!!”
[Evil Wing]’s head recoiled sharply, striking the ground.
The dragon let out a pained cry, using its wings to steady itself as it rolled and scrambled towards the hangar entrance nearby.
With a resounding crash.
The dragon tumbled from the upper bridge level to the deck fifty meters below, the sound echoing powerfully.
White Hair stared, dumbfounded, at the astonishing display of evasive action, his chest heaving uncontrollably.
“…An operation that defies all logic…”
Just then, the cabin door swung open, and White Hair’s bewildered gaze met the two occupants within.
Mu Fan and Lu Qingxue looked towards White Hair.
As Mu Fan was contemplating how to explain his situation, the commotion from outside provided a welcome diversion.
“What… what was that just now?”
Mu Fan inquired, puzzled.
White Hair opened his mouth, uncertain where to begin. He gestured towards the door, then the ceiling, and finally the now-sealed hangar access door.
He suddenly realized that perhaps he was the most foolish one here… that ridiculous dragon had clearly even pre-planned its escape route.
“That dragon was peeping!… Yes, it had its head pressed against the glass, looking in just now.” White Hair felt his cleverness in blaming the dragon merited a perfect score, a near-foolproof excuse.
The atmosphere in the room suddenly grew heavy.
Mu Fan blinked, struggling to process White Hair’s wildly elaborate explanation.
That dragon?
[Evil Wing] possessed such cunning?
Mu Fan’s immediate reaction was surprisingly one of disbelief, devoid of any sense of immediate danger.
However, beside him, a faint blush began to spread across Lu Qingxue’s flawless complexion.
The young daughter’s recent behavior had not gone unnoticed by a Mechanical Dragon…
Yin, the handsome one, with his visual neural auxiliary chip already in place, immediately registered this.
[Blast it, what’s going on? That… idiotic dragon!]
Without a moment’s delay, White Hair abruptly gestured towards the ceiling.
“Look, that’s the mark it left when I caught it attempting to flee.”
Following the direction of White Hair’s finger, the two observed a subtle outline.
The distinct shape of a dragon’s head…
Across the entirety of Shadow Island, apart from [Evil Wing] itself, no other perpetrator was possible.
“Evil Wing… are you not going to appear and offer an explanation?”
Mu Fan’s voice was sharp as ice, his dispassionate gaze shifting to the side, where a light screen promptly activated.
It was evident that Black had betrayed its teammate without the slightest hesitation.
It would never confess to instigating the inquisitive giant dragon.
The screen then displayed an image.
A Mechanical Giant Dragon was seen tightly curled up within the expansive confines of the top-tier warehouse.
Its enormous wings were wrapped around its body, and it held its head close.
“YIUY#¥@……”
A series of incomprehensible, cryptic waves emanated from it.
“I don’t know, I didn’t see anything,” Black hastily translated for Mu Fan, even mimicking the dragon’s terrified intonation in its translation.
Mu Fan’s expression instantly darkened.
Lu Qingxue’s gaze, directed at Mu Fan, grew even colder.
The beautiful woman displayed a hint of blushing anger…
After bestowing upon Mu Fan a meaningful, subtly warning glance that only he could comprehend, Lu Qingxue departed with a frigid demeanor.
White Hair suddenly felt like an obtrusive third party.
The timing seemed off, and the atmosphere… was certainly not conducive to harmony…
Perhaps it was time to consider… making a discreet exit?
“What is it?”
Mu Fan’s drawn-out voice pulled White Hair back to the present from his daydream.
“Uh… I… hahaha.”
“The moon is exceptionally round tonight.”
White Hair coughed lightly, shifting his gaze outward, past the circular window, into the profound, clear expanse of the universe.
Mu Fan felt as though his intellect was being profoundly insulted.
“There’s no…” He resolved to deal with White Hair first, then locate that foolish dragon.
“Wait, what is that!?”
White Hair’s voice suddenly escalated dramatically.
