Shi Mei and Shi Keke arrive at school to find Shi Tianjue and Shi Aoju being punished for fighting with another student, Li Yu. Both sides give conflicting accounts of who started the altercation, though the teachers seem to favor the twins' version due to their generally mature behavior. The twins, adhering to family principles, insist on taking responsibility and refuse to leave their punishment post.

"How about this, you two, I’ll go to the lounge first and talk to Li Yu’s parents. Please bring Shi Tianjue and Shi Aoju over to the lounge in a bit. There are signs outside the door, it’s only about fifty meters from the office."

After settling things with Shi Mei and Shi Keke, Teacher Zhang hurried off to the lounge.

When she got there, the principal was standing outside the lounge looking around. Seeing her, the principal immediately came up and asked, "Well? Have the parents of Shi Aoju and Shi Tianjue arrived?"

"Yes, yes, they’re here, principal. Let’s go in, they’ll be over in a moment."

In the lounge, Mr. and Mrs. Li were sitting on the sofa. It hadn’t even been ten minutes, and the two of them already seemed to have run out of patience.

Especially Mrs. Li, her face full of impatience as she kept grumbling, "Who do they think they are, some big shots or what, showing up this late. We’re the victims here, and now they actually make us wait here—does that make any sense?"

"I’m really sorry, Mr. Li, Mrs. Li, for keeping you waiting." The principal walked in and apologized to them first, then said, "The other parents have already arrived and will be here right away."

Teacher Zhang poured two glasses of water and politely set them down in front of them. "Please have some water first. We’re really sorry about what happened today and for wasting your valuable time. We truly feel bad about it."

Mrs. Li snorted and didn’t take the water Teacher Zhang handed over.

Mr. Li didn’t take it either, though at least he said, "No need."

At this moment, little Li Yu was brought in by the school medical staff. His nosebleed had already stopped, but there were quite a few bloodstains on his clothes.

He’d always been chubby, and his clothes were stretched tight on his body; with this on top of it, he looked downright miserable.

"Dad... Mom... wuu wuu..."

The moment he saw his parents, Li Yu couldn’t help bursting into loud sobs. He threw himself into their arms and cried pitifully, "It hurts so much, is my nose broken? Will I only be able to breathe through my mouth from now on... wuu wuu..."

"Don’t be scared, baby, it’s okay. See, the bleeding’s already stopped." Mrs. Li soothed him gently, stroking his head as she coaxed, "Tell Mom, were those two kids the ones who started hitting you first?"

"Mm-hmm, yeah, they were the ones who hit me first. Wuu wuu, they hit really hard, they almost beat me to death..." Li Yu curled up in her arms like a frightened animal, tears streaming down his face.

Mrs. Li held him and comforted him, "With Mom and Dad here, no one dares to hurt you."

"Mm..." Li Yu nodded.

Mrs. Li went on, "Son, tell Mom, besides your nose, did they hit you anywhere else? Like your head, your stomach, or your legs and feet and so on?"

"Yes!" Li Yu replied without even thinking, "My whole body hurts, they hit me everywhere..."

As he spoke, he pointed to his forehead. "Mom, look here, is it bleeding? It hurts so much. Did they hit me so hard I’ve turned stupid? If I become stupid, no one will like me anymore..."

Saying that, he started sobbing sadly again. "They’re so mean, two of them ganged up to beat just me, and they even cursed at me... said I had no manners, no upbringing... wuu wuu..."

"Outrageous! That’s way too much!" Mrs. Li was furious, practically on the verge of jumping up and slamming the table.
