Love You Till the End Chapter 1190 - 1188: Shi Mei vs. Shi Keke
Previously on Love You Till the End...
Prior to the commencement of the trial, Shi Keke and Chen Shijin meticulously reviewed the evidence documents and defense strategies previously submitted.
While court regulations permit individuals who are excessively occupied or otherwise indisposed to grant full authorization to a legal representative for court attendance, divorce proceedings represent a distinct exception. Consequently, despite a palpable sense of impatience, Qian Hao was precluded from departing the proceedings prematurely.
Once the trial commenced, Shi Keke initiated proceedings by presenting and substantiating the presented evidence before the court. During the cross-examination phase, she directed a pointed question toward Qian Hao: "Mr. Qian, would you be so kind as to inform the court of your whereabouts at precisely 6:20 PM on July 18th of this year?"
Upon hearing this inquiry, Qian Hao responded without a moment's hesitation: "I was dining with clients."
Given that nearly a month had elapsed since July 18th, Qian Hao's instantaneous and unhesitating reply sparked a ripple of suspicion amongst those in attendance.
"I urge you to provide an honest account," Shi Keke implored.
"I was indeed away on a business trip outside the city on July 18th, and I assure you, I am not prevaricating," Qian Hao asserted with a composed demeanor.
"The court operates as a bastion of impartiality and transparency; do not underestimate its capabilities." Within the courtroom, Shi Keke shed her typically affable persona, each utterance imbued with a distinctly assertive edge.
"Objection," Chen Shijin interjected, rising to his feet in rebuttal to Shi Keke’s assertion. "Counsel Shi, your line of questioning constitutes a personal attack upon my client. I implore you to exercise greater discretion in your language."
Shi Keke calmly retorted, "I maintain that my statements are entirely appropriate. I suggest, Counsel Chen, that you consult the established court rules prior to lodging your protest. Your right to object extends solely to logical inferences pertinent to the case, or conversely, illogical inferences that bear no relevance to the proceedings."
At this juncture, the judge's gavel struck the bench decisively: "The objection is overruled. The prosecution's legal counsel may continue."
"Mr. Qian, would you please elaborate on your location on July 18th of this year?" Shi Keke rephrased her earlier question, incorporating a subtle alteration.
"Dining with clients," Qian Hao reiterated.
"Mr. Qian, I must insist you attend closely to the specific question posed: Where were you on July 18th of this year?" Shi Keke repeated, her tone firm.
A flicker of alteration crossed Qian Hao's countenance. Nevertheless, confident in Chen Shijin's ability to prevail, he responded with unwavering assurance: "I was abroad, overseeing the inspection of a new development project. Following the inspection, I attended a dinner engagement with several key clients. My assistant and other company personnel can corroborate this."
"You are making a false statement," Shi Keke countered calmly, before turning her gaze forward. "Your Honor, I formally request the court's permission to present Evidence One."
"Permission granted."
Evidence One, secured by Shi Keke mere hours before court convened, proved to be exceedingly potent. It not only served to definitively expose Qian Hao's mendacity but also unequivocally demonstrated his infidelity during his marital union with another woman.
This crucial piece of evidence was acquired by Shi Keke through a journalist acquaintance. It comprised a brief video segment, approximately thirty seconds in duration. Within this recording, a man and a woman were depicted in a state of undress upon a bed. Despite the judicious application of mosaic blurring, their visages remained discernibly clear.
The man identified in the video was none other than the defendant present today, Qian Hao, while the woman was identified as Zhao Shanshan, a confidante of Zhao E. The video content supported the assertion that the two had engaged in an illicit sexual liaison.
Within the video's dialogue, Zhao Shanshan was heard remarking, "Today is July 18th. In three days, it will be my birthday. Darling, what wonderful gift do you have planned for me?"
Qian Hao's response was recorded as, "My intention is to gift you the presidential suite we are occupying tonight, ensuring we can rendezvous here with frequency. This establishment stands as the premier hotel in Du City; the acquisition of a suite alone would necessitate an expenditure of at least a million. What say you, my dear? Do you find it to your liking?"
