Love You Till the End Chapter 1180 - 1178: Shi Mei vs Shi Keke (25)
Previously on Love You Till the End...
"What if I leave this world before you?"
With his hand cupping her chin, Shi Keke tilted her head back slightly. She didn't push him away or resist, simply gazing at him with a relaxed smile gracing her lips.
The notion of her passing first caused Shi Mei’s eyes to darken ominously. He tightened his grip, his voice a cold command, "Don’t you dare entertain such a thought."
"It’s not about daring, because none of us can be certain of the next moment. Fate, sometimes, delights in toying with people, reveling in snatching everything away when one is at their peak happiness, even life itself."
Shi Keke held a remarkably philosophical outlook, always believing that life and death were inevitable destinations for everyone.
Having practiced law for years, she had witnessed countless circumstances of life and demise, which often led her to contemplate existence with a detached clarity, eventually fostering an indifference towards it.
Life and death hold little true importance. The duration of a person’s existence, or its ultimate conclusion, is secondary; the journey itself is what truly matters.
This present moment, for instance, she savored the experience, delighting in the man’s evident jealousy over her words.
Had she employed such playful provocations earlier, perhaps their union would have happened sooner, perhaps she would have heard him claim her as his woman much earlier.
"I refuse to accept it. As long as I am present, I will never permit you to die, nor allow you to leave my side." Shi Mei abruptly released her chin and drew her into a fierce embrace. He held her tightly, his voice urgent in her ear, "You belong to me, and therefore, only I have dominion over your life."
"Brother, you are incredibly possessive." Shi Keke rested her head against his shoulder, a profound sense of contentment washing over her face as she absorbed his domineering declarations of love.
"My love for you fuels this possessiveness." Shi Mei tightened his hold, his voice dropping to a murmur.
"What was that?" Shi Keke hadn't quite caught his last words.
"Nothing." He replied, gently pushing her away and reverting to his characteristic cold demeanor.
Shi Keke remained silent. She reached up, straightening the slight disarray of his shirt collar, and casually remarked, "Brother, I must confess, men in ties have always captivated me."
Shi Mei responded with a low hum, speaking deliberately, "I never wear ties."
"Then you aren’t the man of my dreams." Shi Keke promptly withdrew her hand and resumed her seat.
Shi Mei also sat back down. He leisurely rolled up his shirt sleeves, then fixed her with a scrutinizing gaze, a faint, knowing smile playing on his lips as he conceded, "Indeed, I am not the man you dream of."
"Mm, at least you possess self-awareness," Shi Keke commented, reaching for her teacup for a sip.
"I am the man you love."
"Pfft—"
At his declaration, Shi Keke involuntarily expelled the tea she had just taken, naturally splashing the man seated opposite her.
Mortified, Shi Keke quickly rose, retrieving tissues from a nearby box to tend to Shi Mei’s face.
As she dabbed at his face, she patiently attempted to placate the man whose expression had grown exceedingly grim, "Brother, consider this. We’ve already shared a kiss, our tongues have met, and we’ve exchanged saliva. There’s truly no need to object to what has now emerged from my mouth."
Shi Mei’s icy facade deepened further: "..."
