Love You Till the End Chapter 1177 - 1175: Shi Mei vs. Shi Keke (22)
Previously on Love You Till the End...
"A woman can’t be too indulged."
Shi Mei delivered the cold remark, then pushed open the car door and stepped out. Before shutting it, a frigid glance was cast towards Shi Keke, a clear signal for her to exit as well.
Shi Keke, however, had no intention of letting him off that easily. With a smile, she emphasized, "Brother, not explaining is concealing, and not concealing is accepting the truth."
The only response was the sharp sound of the car door closing, a testament to Shi Mei’s inability to guarantee he wouldn't do something impulsive to her in the next second, provoked by her words.
He lit a cigarette, leaning casually against the car, the action imbuing him with a certain allure. His laid-back posture was captivating.
Even in the dimness of the alley, he drew attention. A few passersby occasionally cast glances his way.
Through the car window, Shi Keke surveyed the surroundings. At first, it seemed vaguely familiar, but upon spotting some distinctive landmarks, she recognized it instantly—Old Pier East Street.
She quickly folded the jacket that had been covering her, adjusted the car seat, then unbuckled her seatbelt and exited the vehicle.
"Brother, didn’t you say this shop wasn’t open anymore?"
Though many years had passed, Shi Keke immediately identified the familiar old braised food shop.
The return to this place evoked a flood of childhood memories. Shi Keke considered herself an unfeeling person, yet at this moment, an unexpected wave of emotion washed over her, a sudden ache in her heart.
Shi Mei remained silent. He merely tilted his head back, slowly exhaling a smoke ring. He watched as it spiraled upwards, merging with the night air, only to be gently dispersed by the breeze. Then, he crushed the cigarette underfoot and walked towards her.
"Let’s go." Taking her hand, he led her inside, the gesture seeming utterly natural.
Once inside the shop, they found a table. The shop owner noticed them and promptly set aside his task to inquire about their order.
The owner was an elderly man, likely around sixty, his hair white and his face etched with the countless wrinkles time had left behind.
While Shi Keke might not possess a photographic memory, she remembered this old man distinctly.
This was because the old man had suffered severe leg injuries in a car accident during his youth, resulting in a permanent limp.
She had noticed this detail when the elder had hurried over to greet them earlier.
It was surprising that after so many years, the shop remained precisely the same, and so did its owner.
Following the established custom, Shi Keke ordered the dishes she always used to—a plate of shrimp, a plate of crab, and a generous portion of various seafood.
As they awaited their food, Shi Keke idly toyed with the disposable chopsticks on the table. Growing bored with the action, she set them down and looked towards Shi Mei, who was seated across from her. "Brother," she called out.
Shi Mei was engrossed in a newspaper. Hearing her voice, he didn’t alter his demeanor, simply offering a curt "Hmm."
Noticing he didn't even look up, Shi Keke felt a prickle of displeasure. She raised an eyebrow and asked, "Don’t you have anything you want to say to me?"
"What should I say?" He glanced at her briefly before returning his attention to the newspaper.
Shi Keke: "You’ve held my hand, kissed my lips, embraced my body, and touched my face. Shouldn’t you state your position on this? You claim I've been ambiguously taken advantage of and my reputation ruined. How am I supposed to face others in the future?"
