Offerings manifest in diverse ways.
Wang Ba remained uncertain about the exact demands the beings inside Zhang’s Ruins placed on cultivators, but clearly, the long-term disappearance of late-stage Crossing Tribulation experts was linked to the 'core' of Zhang’s Ruins.
A flurry of ideas raced through his thoughts in a flash, but in front of Cheng Lianzi, his face stayed mostly composed, simply offering a smile while speaking:
"Then I must truly try out that treasure, perhaps I can comprehend something from it."
He meant the horn inherited from the Patriarch of the Laowen Sect.
Hearing those words, Cheng Lianzi felt a bit torn inside but soon composed herself and earnestly replied:
"If it can be used by the Ruins Master, it would be a blessing."
They exchanged light stories about Zhang’s Ruins and afterward went back to repairing the formation.
The loss from the clash with the Supreme True Buddha Scripture didn't just hurt the Arhats and Bodhisattvas; the death of a Great Bodhisattva guaranteed they wouldn't take that outcome lying down.
No one could predict their next assault, making it essential to prepare thoroughly ahead of schedule.
Wang Ba's knowledge of formations was quite basic. Beyond placing over a dozen high-quality Dao Treasures to secure the array, he offered little further aid.
All he managed was to arrange sessions for answering questions from the Zhang’s Ruins cultivators.
Only when the surface formation of Zhang’s Ruins appeared seventy to eighty percent repaired did he head back solo to the Yin Ruins Arena.
He realized a return to the Cloud Sky Realm was necessary, yet another task demanded attention first.
After sealing the immortal cave, he promptly retrieved that horn.
After a short contemplation, he examined it closely and then tried powering it using Primordial Spirit followed by immortal power.
Driven by Primordial Spirit, it showed zero reaction.
Yet, upon using immortal power, even though his awareness couldn't access that 'ocean', by concentrating intensely and catching every tiny shift, he faintly detected a barely perceptible power subtly repelling him right then...
That power matched precisely the repulsion from the 'core' of Zhang’s Ruins!
"I knew it."
A glint passed through Wang Ba’s eyes.
Truly, a secret lurked in Zhang’s Ruins!
Following a brief pause, he softly shook his head, seeming to express regret with a sigh:
"Seems I guessed wrong..."
With a flick of his hand, he tucked the horn into his sleeve, exited the Yin Ruins Arena, gave quick directives to Yin Tianzhi, Cheng Lianzi, and the rest, then soared off solo from Zhang’s Ruins, aiming directly for the Cloud Sky Realm.
Once he had departed by flight.
In the depths of Zhang’s Ruins.
From the 'ocean', a awareness gradually surfaced, its brow furrowing lightly:
"Has it already been detected? It won’t affect..."
"Never mind, I’ll just pretend I don’t know anything."
It withdrew back into the 'ocean' once more.
...
Precisely as Wang Ba journeyed toward the Cloud Sky Realm.
In a distant location, at the Reclining Buddha site, thousands of miles from Zhang’s Ruins.
The enormous Reclining Buddha kept its eyes partially open and partially shut.
A few silhouettes hovered in the sky in front of it.
Should Wang Ba be there, he'd recognize these individuals easily; they included the Western Great Bodhisattva, Southern Great Bodhisattva, Eastern Great Bodhisattva, Ridi, Moon Truth, and the considerably diminished Lord of Six Paths, plus others.
Right now, the Bodhisattvas stood reverently before the Reclining Buddha, apparently attentive to its words.
A majestic, profound sound softly resounded from inside the Reclining Buddha:
"...Having awakened this time, Realm Sea’s rejection of me is even stronger; the matter of selecting the future Buddha’s son needs to be expedited."
As the voice from the Reclining Buddha reached them, the Bodhisattvas showed mixed reactions before displaying shame:
"It’s due to our incompetence that the Buddha Lord had to intervene to save us. We ask for your punishment, Buddha Lord."
The sound from the Reclining Buddha's interior answered steadily:
"You indeed erred due to negligence, though Zhang’s Ruins is more mysterious than anticipated. Once you chose Zhang’s Ruins, failure was inevitable."
"No need for further punishment."
Hearing this, the group let out a collective breath of relief.
Even facing Tianshang Buddha, known as the mightiest and strictest Buddha Lord ever, the favored Western Great Bodhisattva showed no trace of carelessness.
At that instant, the Western Great Bodhisattva displayed anxiety:
"Buddha Lord, once you leave Realm Sea in the future, the future Buddha’s son, even after receiving the initiation, will require some time to fully absorb it. During this period, I fear True Man Gai might find an opportunity."
The voice inside the Reclining Buddha replied composedly:
"Then, eliminate the threat of the Cloud Sky Realm before I leave. You should handle these matters yourselves."
The Western Great Bodhisattva agreed with a nod but paused, eventually expressing his worry:
"Should we not concern ourselves with Zhang’s Ruins?"
"The Zhang’s Ruins and its cultivators are of no real consequence, but that True Man Taiyi is a significant problem... though not a Mahayana, he’s as good as one."
"I fear he may cause disruption."
True Man Taiyi truly wasn't a Mahayana Cultivator, but during the latest confrontation, he overpowered three foes with ease, showcasing strength that even one or two Great Bodhisattvas couldn't easily contain. Thus, despite lacking Mahayana status, his intimidating presence equaled that of one.
At minimum, no Great Bodhisattva serving the Supreme True Buddha could match him.
After the Western Great Bodhisattva spoke, Ridi and Moon Truth cast indifferent looks, the Lord of Six Paths appeared uncertain. The Eastern Great Bodhisattva, having seen True Man Taiyi’s prowess in the Cloud Sky Realm, remained dubious; solely the Southern Great Bodhisattva agreed.
