Longevity, starting from being a chicken raising servant Chapter 2323: 175: Audience (Part 2)
Previously on Longevity, starting from being a chicken raising servant...
Lightning-fast, his form dashed forward, hurtling toward the Arhats striving to shatter the Realm Membrane overhead!
Spotting this, the Long-Armed Arhat flew into a rage:
“How dare you look down on me!”
He chased right after, his arms extending with blinding speed!
Meanwhile, inside the Formation Barrier, the skinny elder who saw all this unleashed a chilly huff.
He lifted his hand just a bit, uncovering a Compass gripped in his palm, where streams of light raced across it, displaying the images of multiple monks beyond the barrier, including the Long-Armed Arhat among them.
The skinny elder jabbed a finger at the Long-Armed Arhat's image on the Compass, causing his own face to shrivel up even further.
Suddenly, the Long-Armed Arhat tailing the youth in ochre robes jolted like he'd been hit by a bolt from the blue, his frame locking up in place for an instant!
“Patriarch!”
Murmurs of shock rippled through the onlookers.
The skinny elder's features stayed impassive. Despite his severe wounds, he stood just one step from the mid-stage of Crossing Tribulation. Unable to clash head-on, he excelled in a host of secret arts.
The Wanxiang Sect's reputation wasn't earned without reason.
The alert youth in ochre robes, ever watchful even as he sped onward, caught the shift in the Long-Armed Arhat. He spun around in a flash, brandishing a Purple Thunder Bamboo Sword and unleashing a blazing azure-purple blade beam!
Right before the blade beam could strike the Long-Armed Arhat's forehead, a mighty monk materialized out of nowhere, deflecting the blow and clamping down on the azure-purple blade beam with iron strength.
The blade beam hummed and vibrated wildly, yet it remained trapped in the monk's unyielding hold.
A slight frown creased the brow of the youth in ochre robes; he refused to hang around, delivering his blow and pulling back swiftly.
The mighty monk prepared to give chase, but from within the barrier, the skinny elder shot him a piercing stare and pointed once more at the matching image of the mighty monk on the Compass.
The monk's form seized up right away, allowing the ochre-robed youth to slip away into the far reaches!
Still, the skinny elder staggered unsteadily, his look turning completely haggard and worn-out!
“Patriarch!”
Concern etched the faces of the fellow cultivators near the elder.
The skinny elder lifted his hand to silence the words from those behind him, his gaze locked firmly on the wildly shaking barrier overhead and the ochre-robed youth charging toward the Sky Dome to block their path.
He murmured hastily to someone at his side:
“Are you certain he'll show up?”
Next to him, Hui Yunzi in his moon-white robe paused for a moment, then his eyes hardened with resolve:
“I trust he will!”
“Excellent!”
Determination etched the skinny elder's face. Grinding his teeth, he uttered in a grave tone:
“In that case, we endure until his arrival!”
The cultivators around him echoed his words together, their morale surging. They unleashed all sorts of moves, striking back through the barrier, but the power gap was too vast to stir up real chaos.
The skinny elder extended his Spiritual Sense outward, picking up the clamor of fights echoing from spots across the realm, which weighed heavily on his mind.
“From what Hui Yunzi says, True Man Taiyi has picked up on certain clues… The Supreme True Buddha's monks invading the realm has sparked an odd reaction from the Cloud Sky Sect, letting them push forward without hindrance!”
“Is it possible they've truly forsaken our sects, treating the Cloud Sky Realm as the primary battlefield?”
This idea sank his spirits even lower.
If that held true, they served as perfect lures to draw in these Supreme True Buddha monks at present. With the major target not yet hooked, could this bait truly slip free?
Or were they merely biding time for the big catch to devour the bait, so the angler could pull it in?
Such notions shook his earlier steadfastness.
He found himself pondering deeper.
If the Cloud Sky Sect stuck to this path, would the youthful True Man Taiyi from the Wanxiang Sect in the Little Cang World truly manage to arrive?
These worries consumed him.
His eyes remained glued to the Sky Dome's direction.
As long as the realm membrane at this node stayed intact, the Great Array's key point could persist a bit longer.
Up in the skies, the monks who sensed the ochre-robed youth's aim scowled as they saw him overtake two figures, barreling straight at the ones hammering the Realm Membrane.
Among those pounding the barrier from below, the lone Bodhisattva barked in fury:
“Wisdom Magic, Wisdom Essence, what are you waiting for? Seize him now!”
He'd held back from assaulting the Realm Membrane, planning to harvest the throng of cultivators and mortals here after the Formation fell, turning them to his faith—a deed of ultimate virtue.
Shame and wrath burned in the Long-Armed Arhat and the burly Arhat after the scolding; they surged ahead toward the youth in ochre robes.
The youth's pace was remarkable; as the Longevity Sect's Patriarch, he commanded mastery in the Sword Dao. Though his strikes carried a touch less force from weaving Spirit Plants into his Sword Dao, his endurance outshone others.
He streaked through the air like a beam of sword-light, dodging the combined hunt from the two Arhats by a hair, then veering sharply at the three Arhats battering the Realm Membrane from above!
The Cloud Sky Realm ranked as a genuine Great Realm; its Realm Membrane was dense and resilient, bolstered by the Cloud Sky Sect's unique defenses. Even with fissures forming from assaults inside and out, nothing short of Bodhisattva-level power could crack it wide open.
Seeing the youth draw near, the three Arhats grew wary and dispatched one to head him off.
This played right into the youth's plan. If these monks couldn't harm the Realm Membrane, the Formation underneath might just cling on, granting vital moments. Maybe the Cloud Sky Sect's aid would reach them in time.
With one Arhat pulled aside, the sword-light form of the youth tweaked its path subtly, using its nimble speed to evade while pressing the assault on the remaining two unfazed Arhats.
