Longevity, starting from being a chicken raising servant Chapter 2301: 167: Restraint_3
Previously on Longevity, starting from being a chicken raising servant...
A flicker of disappointment crossed Wang Ba’s mind; he had been contemplating if he could exploit the situation to plunder a few more top-grade Dao treasures. Whether he kept them for his own use, gifted them to the Little Cang World, or traded them for Cloud Shells, any of those paths would have been beneficial.
However, the thought was fleeting, and he quickly cast it aside.
Wisdom lies in knowing when one has enough. His current acquisitions had already far surpassed what he initially hoped for. To be consumed by greed and reach for more would surely invite disaster. Furthermore, the immense attention he had drawn today contradicted his usual philosophy of keeping a low profile; it was time to settle down and retreat from the limelight once more.
Even so, as the Eastern Great Bodhisattva and the assembly of monks from the Supreme True Buddha’s side withdrew in a grim, silent retreat, a thunderous cheer erupted from the Taoist Field of the Cloud Sky Realm.
“Five consecutive duels! Five total victories! Taoist Brother Taiyi is truly peerless!”
“I, Ba, am speechless with admiration, but I must ask—in the entire Realm Sea, is there any Crossing Tribulation middle-stage cultivator who can stand as an equal to my Taoist Brother Taiyi?”
“Haha, Taoist Friend Ba, you might be inviting trouble for Taoist Brother Taiyi with such praise,” someone remarked, half-joking yet with a hint of caution.
Those who had ascended to the middle stage of the Crossing Tribulation were all titans of their domains, possessed of great pride and ambition. Should they hear of someone being placed so far above them, it would undoubtedly spark resentment.
While those who had witnessed Wang Ba’s prowess firsthand were filled with awe, those who had not seen the battles would form their opinions of True Man Taiyi based solely on True Man Ba’s bold claims.
True Man Ba, however, was unfazed:
“With the capabilities Taoist Brother Taiyi possesses, his name will certainly reach the Mahayana realm in due time. Mediocre talents are merely fireflies; how could their jealousy or envy ever hope to obscure the radiance of the great sun!”
Upon hearing this, the cultivators nearby found it hard to disagree.
Among the many Bodhisattvas and Arhats of the Supreme True Buddha, only one like Wisdom Truth was truly exceptional.
Since True Man Taiyi had proven himself superior even to Wisdom Truth, it would be inconceivable for such a talent not to reach the Mahayana realm.
Meanwhile, outside the realm, Wang Ba turned to see a young man clad in purple robes. The man greeted him with a smile, proactively cupping his hands in respect:
“You have labored hard this time, Taoist friend.”
Though Wang Ba usually maintained an air of indifference, receiving such courtesy from a sect master of a Great Realm—a man whose status and Cultivation level far exceeded his own—made him feel somewhat flattered. He quickly returned the salute:
“Why does Taoist brother say such things...?”
His voice trailed off as he reached into his sleeve, drawing out the six Dao treasures belonging to the Red Bodhisattva.
The moment they emerged, the treasures began to vibrate violently, attempting to flee. Although they were trapped within Wang Ba’s Dao Domain and could not escape, they remained restless.
The purple-robed young man watched with a puzzled expression.
Wang Ba pushed the six Dao treasures toward him, offering a smile as he spoke:
“These six Dao treasures are of the highest quality. You assisted me just now, and in return, I wish to present these six Dao treasures entirely to the Cloud Sky Sect.”
Even the purple-robed youth, a man hardened by countless storms, could not hide his shock:
“This... so many Dao treasures, all for the Cloud Sky Sect!?”
These were not merely upper-grade, but top-grade Dao treasures!
While a top-grade treasure might only possess one or two more Cloud Bans than an upper-grade one, every restriction added beyond the ninth brought about a world-shaking transformation in power.
Prior to the Supreme True Buddha’s invasion, the Cloud Sky Realm possessed only a single top-grade Dao treasure, which an ancestor had retrieved from a Realm Embryo during a journey through the Realm Sea.
Following the attack, they had barely managed to seize a few more from the Bodhisattvas, which were now held by the sect’s most powerful elders.
For True Man Taiyi to offer six top-grade Dao treasures at once was a gesture so grand that even the sect master hesitated to accept or refuse it lightly.
Wang Ba nodded, adding:
“Each additional top-grade Dao treasure increases our chances of victory should a powerful foe appear. We are allies against the Supreme True Buddha; the treasures I already have are sufficient. Keeping more would be a waste of their potential. It is better they go to the Cloud Sky Sect, where they can be put to proper use.”
His sincerity was palpable, and the purple-robed young man was visibly moved.
After a moment of deep reflection, he finally nodded. He selected only three of the six Dao treasures from Wang Ba’s hand, stating solemnly:
“Your righteousness is a true blessing to the Cloud Sky Sect! However, since you obtained these at such great personal risk, three is more than enough...”
He paused, looking intently at Wang Ba before continuing:
“Do you have urgent business? If you are free... I noticed that while your Primordial Spirit is vast, it lacks a certain stability. It might benefit you to accompany me to the place where our sect’s ancestors are in seclusion.”
Wang Ba had intended to leave and seek out the Wanxiang Sect’s location within the Cloud Sky Realm. However, hearing this offer, his interest was piqued. Showing his delight, he nodded in agreement:
“Then I shall not refuse your kindness.”
The young man in purple gave a soft laugh:
“No need for such formality... and later, we must hold a celebration in your honor!”
Behind that smile, a newfound warmth and intimacy had formed between them.
The challenge issued by the Supreme True Buddha had ended in an absolute rout, finally granting the defenders a moment of reprieve.
Nearby, Chen Zhongqi thought back to the words Wang Ba had previously shared with him, etching a specific name into his memory:
“Wanxiang Sect...”
His eyes flickered with thought as he followed them into the Taoist Field. After attending to some brief matters, he turned and descended directly into the realm.
