After grabbing the herbs, Hong Mei seized her prescription and spun around to depart.
Gu Sheng and his companions let out chuckles before trailing after her.
As soon as they exited the pharmacy, Hong Mei remained somewhat annoyed.
"That clerk is clueless. My prescription is incredibly potent, but he still doubted it."
"No, perhaps he only has basic knowledge and couldn't discern its true power."
Once Gu Sheng uttered those words, Hong Mei raised her chin proudly. "This stands as the strongest Disguise Skill I've ever devised. There's simply no chance he could pierce through it."
"Exactly, you're spot on."
Gu Sheng responded with enthusiasm, which made Hong Mei break into laughter too.
"Gu Sheng, I'd like to explore this area more later. After handling matters at Luochuan's spot, would you mind joining me for a stroll?"
"Sure, I'd be happy to."
Right after Gu Sheng's agreement, Lan Yao peeked out from behind him.
"Sect Leader Hong, that's not fair. Why just ask Gu Sheng and leave us out? We can tag along for the walk as well."
Following his remark, Bai Yu approached and nodded. "Lan Yao's got a point; we'd love to come too."
Hong Mei's cheeks flushed from their comments, leaving her at a loss for words briefly.
Noticing this, Gu Sheng moved swiftly in front of her and cast a sharp side-eye at Lan Yao and Bai Yu.
"Are the two of you that idle? If you've got spare time, maybe I should assign you some tasks. From what I recall, Demon Beasts lurk nearby."
At the mention of Demon Beasts, the pair straightened up instantly, frantically shaking their hands toward Gu Sheng.
"No, no, we're actually swamped. We were only teasing Hong Mei. Truth is, we're very occupied, so we'll head out now."
No sooner had they spoken than Lan Yao dragged Bai Yu away, and they hurried off.
Observing their fleeing forms, Hong Mei couldn't suppress her laughter.
Her joyful look prompted Gu Sheng to grin in response.
"Come on, let's move."
Trailing the group, the pair made their way back to the inn side by side.
Inside Luochuan's chamber, the whole crew squeezed in tightly.
Facing their inquisitive expressions, Gu Sheng gave a helpless smile.
"What brings everyone here? Isn't it too crowded for you?"
To this, they all shook their heads together.
"Not at all crowded."
The group chorused their reply, nearly making Gu Sheng chuckle aloud.
As he laughed, Shi Lou advanced and declared, "Brother Sheng, we vow to behave. Please allow us to remain and observe. I've never witnessed a Disguise Skill up close before."
Shi Lou had barely concluded when Hong Mei interjected ahead of Gu Sheng's reply.
"Fine, fine, if you're staying, then assist me with these herbs."
Excited at the chance to help, Shi Lou beamed, while Er Gou and Huang Shan hurried forward to lend a hand.
As the trio worked on the herbs, Gu Sheng turned his gaze to Luochuan.
Noting his tightly gripped fist from anxiety, he walked over and clapped Luochuan on the shoulder.
"Relax, it's merely a disguise. No pain or discomfort involved, so what's there to fear?"
After Gu Sheng's words, Luochuan glanced up at him tensely and whispered, "Brother Sheng, will it ruin my looks? Once disguised, can I revert to my real face? I won't be stuck this way permanently, will I?"
Though Luochuan spoke softly, the keen-eared Hong Mei caught it anyway.
"Luochuan, do you doubt my abilities? As Mirror Gate's Sect Leader, Disguise Skill is my expertise!"
Realizing she'd overheard, Luochuan rubbed his head sheepishly.
"Sect Leader Hong, that's not what I intended. I'm just anxious because it's my first time."
"Don't fret, just ease up. I'm only applying a disguise; it won't alter your actual features. Whenever you wish to change back, I assure you it'll be precisely as it was."
Reassured by Hong Mei, Luochuan at last unwound.
"That's a relief. Much appreciated, Sect Leader Hong."
"No trouble at all, it's a minor thing."
With Hong Mei's response done, Shi Lou and Er Gou enthusiastically carried the herbs over.
Hong Mei retrieved a porcelain vial and emptied its contents into the mortar.
As the ingredients combined, she nimbly twisted her wrist, sending a flow of Spiritual Energy from her hand straight into the vessel.
Instantly, the herbs merged seamlessly.
With a light flick of her fingers, the blend in the mortar started spinning, slowly converting the fine powders into a smooth paste.
When the paste achieved a creamy consistency, Hong Mei ceased her movements.
"Luochuan, take a seat and shut your eyes. It'll take about as long as an incense stick to burn."
At her instruction, Luochuan settled down and closed his eyes compliantly.
Hong Mei's palm softly touched his face as she carefully spread small amounts of the paste across his skin.
The onlookers stared intently, barely blinking, while Luochuan's features gradually shifted before them, morphing into those of an unfamiliar person.
Off to the side, Er Gou scrubbed at his eyes hard.
"I didn't blink once. When exactly did his face alter?"
In response to his query, Shi Lou shook his head, just as baffled.
"I missed it too. I noticed the change in his looks, but not the precise instant. Hong Mei was correct; she's indeed a disguise expert, utterly remarkable."
His statement quickly drew nods of approval from the others.
As their chatter rose, Gu Sheng gave them a pointed look.
Catching his cue, the group fell silent without hesitation.
After the duration of one incense stick, Luochuan's transformation into a complete stranger was finished.
As Hong Mei rose, Lan Yao and the rest surged forward, surrounding Luochuan and prodding his face curiously. Yet despite their poking, no seams appeared, as though he'd always borne this visage.
