Living In Another World With A Farm Chapter 8475: Blocking the road (1)

Previously on Living In Another World With A Farm...
Zhao Hai, disguised as the itinerant cultivator Jiang Dongliu, navigated the tense outer market of the Dark Ghost Sect, where rumors of Zou Xiao and the Ghostwind Bandits' treasure fueled widespread suspicion and clashes among rogue cultivators. Seated in a bustling tavern, he overheard endless speculation about the elusive treasure, unaware that a Poison Bug Valley disciple had locked onto him with a piercing gaze. The man, Da Jiuzhi, confronted Zhao Hai openly, accusing him of being Zou Xiao and seeking revenge for the slain Wen Liyi, a vendetta sparked by a loyal servant's final plea. As the tavern fell silent and patrons encircled them with weapons drawn, Zhao Hai shed his disguise, revealing his true identity amid the rising tension.

Zhao Hai gazed at Da Jiu Ji, shaking his head while letting out a sigh. "To tell the truth, I feel sorry for them. The two brothers are truly talented. If they hadn't obsessed over the treasure that doesn't exist and instead devoted all their time to cultivation, their strength would certainly be formidable. Regrettably, they've wasted their cultivation pursuing something unreal. It's truly beyond imagination."

Da Jiu Ji stared at Zhao Hai and spoke in a hushed tone, "How do you know the treasure doesn't exist? Have you searched for it yourself?" Now Da Jiu Ji grasped why Zhao Hai shared this information. Zhao Hai aimed to use their conversation to inform the others coveting the Ghostwind Bandits' treasure that it simply wasn't real. Yet Da Jiu Ji remained eager to hear Zhao Hai's explanation.

"It's straightforward. Do you know how Wen Liyi and his group tracked the treasure? They tailed the descendants of the Ghostwind Bandits, but consider the lives those descendants led—they resembled typical rogue cultivators. They lured fellow rogue cultivators into missions, only to slay them and seize their Jingshi along with magic tools. Then they employed those gains for cultivation. If the Ghostwind Bandits' descendants truly knew the treasure's location, why not retrieve and utilize it? Why resort to such tactics for cultivation resources? Since the descendants lacked knowledge of their own treasure's whereabouts, how could I possibly know? I was merely one of the fools deceived by those descendants, intending to eliminate them for their possessions. Fortunately, my strength allowed me to dispatch them instead. In that scenario, how could anyone believe I held secrets about the Ghostwind Bandits' treasures? I suspect they've lost their minds over the allure of that treasure—and so have these folks!" With that, Zhao Hai pivoted and scanned the surrounding crowd. His statement sparked an uproar among them.

"How can we trust you're being honest? What if you actually know the Ghostwind Bandits' treasure location and are deceiving us?" Da Jiu Ji eyed Zhao Hai. He was beginning to accept that Zhao Hai truly had no clue about the Ghostwind Bandits' treasure, as Zhao Hai's earlier remarks convincingly suggested ignorance. Besides, his logic rang true. If the Ghostwind Bandits possessed such a treasure, why hadn't their descendants claimed it? And if the descendants remained unaware, how would Zhao Hai possess that knowledge?

Zhao Hai could only shake his head upon hearing Da Jiu Ji's question. "It makes no difference. Truth is, I don't fear this information spreading, nor do I dread these individuals—not even you. I altered my appearance to evade hassle and avoid needless killings. But since you've located me, trouble looms inevitably. If you managed to find me, others can too. Hiding serves no purpose now. Let's see how many dare to come for my life."

Da Jiu Ji burst into laughter at Zhao Hai's bold words. "You sound awfully assured. Are you genuinely unafraid of me?" Da Jiu Ji felt genuine intrigue. Zhao Hai was merely a rogue cultivator—why show no fear toward him? The divide between rogue cultivators and sect disciples was vast.

Zhao Hai offered a smile and replied, "Frankly, I've acquired an inheritance—a unique cultivation technique unknown to me back in the Blood Sea Realm. This method proves exceptionally potent. I wielded it against Wen Liyi and slew him, which drew you here. So honestly, I have little to fear."

"Hahaha, excellent. You're intriguing me more by the moment. I must discover your true capabilities. Since a clash seems inevitable, why not head outside and test our skills?" Upon concluding, Da Jiu Ji abruptly rose and prepared to depart.

Zhao Hai also got to his feet, yet the encircling crowd showed no sign of parting. Da Jiu Ji's face darkened at the sight. He swept his gaze over the onlookers and let out a cold snort. "You lot had better clear a path. Otherwise, don't fault me for rudeness."

"Enough with the theatrics, you two. Zou Xiao, do you truly believe we'll cower and let you escape just because you've recruited someone and dressed him as a Poisonous Bug Valley disciple? Let me tell you, that's not happening. You'll remain here today. Unless you reveal the Ghostwind Bandits' treasure location, forget about leaving." A cultivator declared icily. The rest fixed cold stares on the pair.

Zhao Hai shot a glance at the assembly, then turned to Da Jiu Ji with clear impatience. He growled deeply, "Observe—they're utterly foolish. Why fear such idiots? Prior to your arrival, they had no inkling of my identity. Your presence revealed me, yet they assume it's a ruse with you as my hireling. I loathe dealing with such dimwits, but they persist, and most folks resemble them. What a vexing ordeal!"

"Why fret over it? If their sight offends you, eliminate them." Da Jiu Ji cast a disdainful look at the group and snorted. Without any visible action, a sphere of black Qi hurtled toward one man. The target jolted in alarm, swinging his blade which gleamed brightly to strike the incoming black Qi.

Yet the black Qi mass abruptly divided into two smaller clusters. They evaded the man's blade and lunged straight at him. A sharp cry echoed as he discarded his weapon and clawed at his own face. That desperate strike unleashed a torrent of blood.

The blood erupted not from slaying a foe, but from his ravaged face. Upon contact, the black Qi eroded his skin at a visible pace. Thus, his frantic slap ruptured facial blood vessels, spraying forth copious amounts of blood.

The man's wails intensified, his slaps growing more frenzied. After several blows, he collapsed motionless to the ground. The surrounding people fled in panic, staring at the fallen figure in terror.

The screaming man writhed briefly before going still. Gradually, his breathing ceased—clearly deceased. Then, eerie rustling emanated from his form. His flesh and blood vanished rapidly. In moments, only a bleached skeleton remained.

The black Qi orb returned to Da Jiu Ji's palm and vanished. Zhao Hai observed the entire event without a hint of surprise. He nodded and remarked, "The insect mastery of the Poisonous Bug Valley is indeed remarkable. Today, I've witnessed it firsthand."

Da Jiu Ji shot Zhao Hai a glance and grinned. "You'll get your turn." With those words, he guided Zhao Hai from the chamber. This time, none dared block their exit. Da Jiu Ji's insect control had confirmed his status as a genuine Poisonous Bug Valley disciple. As rogue cultivators, they wouldn't risk antagonizing one.

Still, as the duo exited the tavern, the remaining crowd trailed after them. Clearly, they refused to abandon the chance. They targeted Zhao Hai relentlessly, hoping to seize him. After all, the Ghostwind Bandits' treasures proved irresistibly alluring. Though Zhao Hai had denied their existence earlier, few accepted his claim at face value. Meanwhile, they summoned allies, spreading word that Zhao Hai had surfaced here.

Zhao Hai and Da Jiu Ji had barely stepped from the tavern when they halted abruptly. Several black-robed figures obstructed their path, faces shrouded beneath hoods. This attire marked the signature style of Dark Ghost Sect disciples. Within Dark Ghost Sect territory, they found themselves compelled to pause before these sect enforcers.

The lead Dark Ghost Sect disciple appraised them with a cold snort. "I wondered who dared stir chaos in Dark Ghost Sect territory. Turns out it's Poisonous Bug Valley's Golden Spike Tail, Da Jiu Ji. Remember, Da Jiu Ji, this is Dark Ghost Sect—not your Poisonous Bug Valley. While here, abide by our rules. Fail to do so, and don't resent our lack of courtesy."

Da Jiu Ji eyed the man, his features hardening as he snorted back. "I wondered myself. So it's Ghost Flag Warrior Leng Feng. Leng Feng, this is a private matter between him and me. Best you stay out of it. Otherwise, it ends poorly for all."

Leng Feng regarded Da Jiu Ji coolly and replied, "Clarify this, Da Jiu Ji: This is our Dark Ghost Sect. You're merely a Poisonous Bug Valley disciple causing a disturbance. Do you suppose our sect lacks defenders? We're sparing you solely due to your Venomous Insect Valley ties. Depart at once, or face our wrath. Personal grudges? You're just scheming to claim the Ghostwind Bandits' treasure solo."

Da Jiu Ji fixed Leng Feng with a mocking laugh. "The Ghostwind Bandits' treasure? Let me state clearly: I'm here to avenge Junior Brother Wen Liyi. He slew my Junior Brother Wen Liyi, so I won't spare him. Step aside, or don't blame my discourtesy."

"Hahaha, Da Jiu Ji, you blind fool who misreads the odds. How bold to spout such nonsense here? Very well, witness the might of our Dark Ghost Sect today!" With that, he summoned a massive flag into his grasp. This banner stretched roughly ten feet, bearing a vast black cloth emblazoned with a skeletal motif. Unfurled in his hold, it billowed dramatically in the breeze, exuding an imposing presence.

Seeing the foe deploy their war flag, Da Jiu Ji realized concessions were off the table. He sneered coldly. "Then I'll humbly seek instruction." Despite his words, his expression grew grave. He recognized Ghost Flag General Leng Feng as a formidable adversary—immensely strong. Subduing him wouldn't prove simple. Thus, Da Jiu Ji extended his arms, and a glossy black-jade-like spider materialized upon his shoulder.
