Living In Another World With A Farm Chapter 8367: Killing intent (1)
Previously on Living In Another World With A Farm...
As the disciples of the Blood Slaughter Sect roared, a staggering wave of killing intent surged into the heavens, coalescing into a dense crimson fog that gradually blanketed the entire island. Within this mist, the sect members felt a sudden surge of vitality. Obscure aspects of their cultivation techniques that had long puzzled them suddenly became crystal clear. It felt as though the sabers gripped in their hands had gained souls of their own. Overwhelmed by a frantic excitement, they charged at their panicked foes, their blades dancing as they harvested lives one after another.
With every kill, a fragment of blood Qi merged into the red haze, increasing their strength and deepening their mental clarity. To a trained observer, it would be obvious that these Blood Slaughter Sect disciples had entered a rare state of enlightenment. Strangely, this spiritual breakthrough was occurring in the heat of a violent massacre.
The disciples themselves were oblivious to this phenomenon, focused entirely on their relentless assault. However, watching from above, Zhao Hai noticed the change and was momentarily stunned. He couldn't quite grasp how so many followers could achieve enlightenment simultaneously. While one or two individuals finding such a state was normal, an entire group doing so at once was utterly bizarre.
As he pondered this, a wave of energy suddenly flooded his own body. Startled at first, Zhao Hai realized he had also entered a peculiar state of enlightenment. He felt ancient battle instincts awakening within his soul. Without conscious thought, he allowed these instincts to take over. Numerous ghost claws erupted from his side, lashing out at the disciples of the Thirteen Family Alliance.
The experience for the Thirteen Family Alliance was the polar opposite. Confused and terrified, they felt a deep, primal dread rising within them. Their strength began to fail, and the flow of their dharmic powers grew sluggish. A powerful, unseen force was crushing both their bodies and their spirits. Most terrifyingly, this suppression was silent; many didn't even realize they were being suppressed until it was too late. They stood like frightened rabbits, eyes wide with horror as they watched the Blood Slaughter Sect approach. Their weapons felt heavy and useless, and the spells they once cast with ease now felt foreign. They felt as helpless as young girls facing a predator, able to do nothing but scream in futile terror.
It wasn't a fight; it was a slaughter. Moving like cold, efficient machines, the Blood Slaughter Sect disciples swung their weapons to claim life after life. They showed no hint of compassion, completely consumed by the dark ecstasy of the kill.
Even after the final cultivator of the Thirteen Family Alliance fell, the Blood Slaughter Sect members remained in a trance. Their eyes were crimson with bloodlust as they turned toward their own comrades, ready to strike. Zhao Hai, however, had kept a shred of clarity despite his own enlightenment. Snapping out of the trance, he immediately saw the peril his disciples were in. His heart sank; he knew that if they began killing one another, they would succumb to Qi deviation and die.
Reacting instantly, Zhao Hai halted his movements. His hands swiftly transitioned into the Fudo seal as he bellowed, "Lin!" The shout acted like a thunderclap to the disciples' souls, shattering the lingering killing intent and restoring their sanity. They looked around, dazed and confused.
Zhao Hai’s voice boomed again, "What are you doing? You have all just experienced an epiphany! Sit down and meditate this instant to consolidate the insights you've gained!" Hearing his command, the disciples were momentarily stunned before the realization of their luck set in. Overjoyed, they immediately sat cross-legged to cultivate, desperate to grasp the fleeting sensations from the battle. It dawned on them that this fight had finally allowed them to touch the true essence of the Blood Slaughter Sect's cultivation techniques. They were finally learning the fundamentals.
It was somewhat ironic; while everyone knew the Blood Slaughter Sect focused on killing intent, few disciples could actually harness it effectively in a real fight. Usually, their application of killing intent was clumsy and provided little advantage over other major sects.
This battle had changed everything. They now understood how killing intent was meant to be used. They saw how it could utterly cripple an enemy, making even strong opponents appear weak.
Even Zhao Hai found this application of killing aura fascinating. He hadn't expected it to be so potent. It made sense now why the sect's founders chose to build their entire Foundation on killing aura. They must have discovered this devastating property long ago.
However, such a state was difficult to reach and extremely dangerous. Without Zhao Hai’s mental fortitude, the stabilizing influence of his Space, and his background in Buddhist cultivation, most would be swallowed by the bloodlust. They would turn into mindless slaughterers, unable to tell friend from foe.
Such occurrences were likely rare; otherwise, the sect would have been destroyed by Qi deviation long ago. This suggested that entering such a collective state of enlightenment required very specific conditions.
Suddenly, Zhao Hai sensed ripples of energy from below. Many disciples were breaking through their bottlenecks. While no one jumped to a new major realm, many advanced several minor stages. Some who were at the fifth level of the Refinement realm had surged straight to the eighth level, nearing the peak.
Though the disciples were celebrating their progress, Zhao Hai remained focused. He waved his hand, sending a flash of white light into the distance. Then, using a hand seal, he caused the corpses of the fallen Alliance cultivators to rise. They coalesced in mid-air, forming a massive, blood-red ghost hand reinforced with white bone—a truly ghastly sight.
After stowing the ghost claw away, he surveyed the ruins. The island’s buildings were mostly rubble now, but Zhao Hai wasn't bothered. They had reclaimed the territory, and buildings could always be rebuilt.
Zhao Hai then commanded loudly, "Listen up! Clear the battlefield. Gather everything of value. Aside from a thirty percent portion to be handed over to the Sect, you may keep the rest of the resources found here. Also, ensure all damaged magic artifacts are collected for the Sect."
The cultivators were stunned by the generous terms. Their eyes gleamed with greed as they hurried to scavenge. Usually, the Sect took seventy percent of the spoils, leaving them with very little. Being allowed to keep seventy percent for themselves was a massive windfall, and they worked with newfound vigor.
Zhao Hai watched them with a faint smile, then turned his gaze toward the horizon. He was waiting for Yan Bei. The white light he had released earlier was a signal. His mastery over magical formations had reached a point where, combined with the Golden Lotus Nine Transformations Scripture and the Nine-Word Mantra, he could manifest arrays directly in his palm. He no longer required physical array discs or flags to send messages or even create teleportation points.
Before long, a flash of light appeared outside Blood Treasure Island, and Yan Bei arrived with the others. Zhao Hai deactivated the protective formation to let them in. He coordinated the treatment of the wounded and continued the cleanup. While he allowed the men to keep most of what they found, large-scale resource caches were reserved for the Sect, ensuring everyone made a tidy profit.
Later, Zhao Hai convened a meeting with Yan Bei and the other leaders in one of the few standing buildings. Once everyone was settled, Zhao Hai spoke solemnly, "Our mission was a complete success. Blood Treasure Island is ours. Its location is strategic, sitting deep within the enemy’s territory. With this island and Blood Stone Island, we have driven a wedge into their lines. This will be the perfect staging ground for our future operations."
