Lei gang and his brothers stood in a group. A flash of white light enveloped them, and they vanished, reappearing a moment later amidst a vast sea of blood. Lei gang produced his Vajra scepter and entered the crimson expanse. The scepter contained an internal space that served as both a powerful weapon and a vessel for transport. Zhao Hai and the others were currently positioned within this hidden dimension.
Upon his arrival, Lei gang summoned Zhao Hai. Both Zhao Hai and Shen Nanzheng materialized before the three leaders. Lei gang spoke in a grave tone, "We have reached the blood sea, though I have yet to determine our exact bearings. You will accompany us to provide directions. Once the rest of our forces arrive, we will begin the operation together."
"As you command, Master," Zhao Hai replied with a nod. Lei gang acknowledged him before turning his attention to Shen Nanzheng. "Nan Zheng, organize the disciples within the space. When we deploy, you are to lead their movements. Ensure you follow Little Hai's lead. While participating in the island battle is optional, securing the items within the base is mandatory."
Shen Nanzheng gave his assent. Shortly after, Lei gang and the two others escorted Zhao Hai out of the internal space. Surveying the surroundings, Zhao Hai pointed toward the horizon. "Master, it is that way. After traveling roughly a thousand miles, we will reach Blood Shadow Island. I am certain of the location."
Lei gang nodded, scanning the perimeter. "We shall wait here briefly," he stated firmly. "We move once the others join us." Lei bin and Zhao Hai remained quiet as the group moved to the side. Within a short span of time, flashes of white light signaled the arrival of more cultivators.
Leading the group was Du Wan Sha, accompanied by Ha Jing. Surrounding them were numerous Island Lords, all radiating a palpable killing intent. Among them, Zhao Hai recognized Gu Na, Yan Bei’s master. Despite his thin, skeletal frame, Gu Na emitted a staggering aura and a look of pure malice.
Lei gang and his companions immediately stepped forward to salute Du Wan Sha and Ha Jing. It was clear that these two had been tasked with handling Bai Xin personally. The other Elders were absent; two had been dispatched to deal with Yin Wuchang, while the remaining pair stayed behind to guard the Sect. Between the two Elders and the Sect Master, the Blood Massacre Sect was well-protected. Their sole focus here was the elimination of Bai Xin.
After the group paid their respects, Du Wan Sha looked at Zhao Hai with a smile. "So, you are Zhao Hai? Your name has reached my ears quite often. Young man, you have done well. This contribution is significant, and you shall be rewarded for it!" It was evident that Du Wan Sha found Zhao Hai impressive, prompting such praise.
Zhao Hai quickly offered his thanks with a respectful salute. Du Wan Sha merely waved his hand in response. Lei gang and the others then took their positions behind Ha Jing. After looking at Zhao Hai with approval, Ha Jing turned to Lei gang, who whispered several details to him. Ha Jing nodded, then approached Du Wan Sha. The entire group began to fly forward, concealing their Qi and moving at a measured pace.
Despite their cautious speed, the experts reached Blood Shadow Island quickly. Du Wan Sha signaled for everyone to halt. With a nod of his head, the others followed his lead. They reached into their sleeves, and various celestial devices appeared in their hands. Suddenly, a multitude of figures emerged from these devices, including Shen Nanzheng and his unit.
Once the full force had assembled, Du Wan Sha signaled the charge. They hovered just outside Blood Shadow Island, which was encased in a transparent protective shield. Their presence was detected immediately by those below. Panic erupted on the island as people scrambled in every direction, and the loud blare of an alarm echoed through the air.
Suddenly, a powerful voice boomed, "Why are you panicking? Execute the plan as we discussed!" A figure streaked through the air, coming to a halt a few miles away from Du Wan Sha’s group. He wore the robes of a scholar and possessed a handsome face. This was Bai Xin, and he gripped a blood-red long saber that pulsed with a lethal aura.
Du Wan Sha examined the weapon in Bai Xin’s hand with curiosity. He was aware that the blade was a replica, yet its appearance startled him. Though it was a fake, it looked remarkably authentic. It seemed virtually indistinguishable from the genuine Killing God Blade, a fact that truly surprised him.
Bai Xin glared at Du Wan Sha with a grim expression. "I did not expect the Great Elder to grace us with his presence," he said in a low voice. "Is the Great Elder finally prepared to use the Blood Slaughter Saber against me? Even with that weapon, keeping me here will be no easy task. Do you not fear my eventual retaliation?"
Du Wan Sha opened his remaining eye and fixed his gaze on Bai Xin. "I do fear it," he admitted solemnly. "Having been part of the Blood Massacre Sect for so many years, I know your character well. You are the most power-hungry and cold-blooded of the eight Elders. For that reason, your life ends today!"
Bai Xin stared back and replied, "Then there is nothing left to discuss. Great Elder, draw the Blood Slaughter Saber. Let us see if it truly surpasses my God Slaying Saber!" He raised his blade, eyes locked on Du Wan Sha. Although a barrier sat between them, Bai Xin knew it would not hold against the Great Elder’s might.
Du Wan Sha spoke coldly, "You tore the Blood Massacre Sect apart for the sake of your own greed. That is your greatest sin. I might not have opposed your bid for the Sect Master position, but your methods were unacceptable. You must die. Bai Xin, I did not bring the Blood Slaughter Saber today. I brought a different blade." With a flick of his wrist, Du Wan Sha revealed a long saber.
The moment Bai Xin saw the weapon, his pupils contracted. He looked back and forth between his own blade and the one Du Wan Sha held. He attempted to channel his transcendence energy into his weapon, but as the energy flowed, the saber in his hand dissolved into a cloud of red mist and vanished completely.
Turning pale as his weapon evaporated, Bai Xin growled, "Was this your doing? Did you steal my blade?" He was stunned that the Killing God Blade had been swapped right under his nose without him noticing.
Du Wan Sha looked at him and said, "Allow me to introduce someone. Zhao Hai, step forward." The summons caught Zhao Hai, Lei gang, and Ha Jing by surprise. They hadn't expected the Great Elder to thrust Zhao Hai into the spotlight so suddenly.
Though startled, Zhao Hai complied. He flew slowly toward Du Wan Sha and bowed deeply. "Zhao Hai greets the Grand Elder." He remained perfectly calm, his face showing no sign of excitement, fear, or pride. He acted as though this were a perfectly mundane occurrence.
Du Wan Sha noted Zhao Hai’s composure with a glint of approval. He turned back to Bai Xin. "This is Zhao Hai. You likely know the name. He was the one who first realized the families were building secret forces. It was his discovery that forced your hand and triggered your rebellion. Furthermore, he is the one who took the God-Slaying Saber from Blood Shadow Island. He spent months undercover here to achieve that goal."
Bai Xin looked at Zhao Hai and noticed he was only at the first level of the Profound Art stage. He sneered at Du Wan Sha. "Great Elder, you must be joking. You claim this boy stole the God-Slaying Saber? With his meager strength, how could he possibly take it from right under my watch?"
Du Wan Sha smirked. "It is the truth. If you doubt it, I will let Zhao Hai prove it to you." He turned to the young man. "Zhao Hai, since he is skeptical, why don't you show him so he can stop wondering?" He watched Zhao Hai with a knowing look.
Zhao Hai nodded and turned around. In an instant, his features shifted. He transformed into a handsome yet cold-looking young man. He clasped his hands and said, "Wu Hao offers his respects to Elder Bai. I have been stationed outside the Copper Palace recently and have witnessed the Elder's power many times. If the Elder wishes for a demonstration, I shall provide one." Zhao Hai performed a hand seal and shouted, "Forward!" He executed the Sun Seal and pushed his hands outward.
At his command, the Copper Palace at the island's center began to tremble. It rose into the air, shifting its massive shape from a rectangular structure into a colossal copper sword.
The giant blade soared across the island, passing through the barrier to settle beneath the feet of Zhao Hai and the others, acting as a platform. Zhao Hai took a deep breath and looked at Bai Xin. "My apologies, Elder Bai. This is my first time attempting a transformation of this scale, so I could only manage a simple sword. I hope I haven't embarrassed myself." With a shimmer, Zhao Hai returned to his original form.
Bai Xin stared in stunned silence. After a long moment, he finally found his voice and roared, "Wu Hong!" Wu Hong immediately flew to his side and bowed. Bai Xin glared at him. "Wu Hong, explain this! How did you not know a member of your own Wu family had been replaced?" He was furious that Zhao Hai had successfully impersonated Wu Hao.
