Liu Xueyu of the Fengdu delegation proposed a gamble: a Sky Fox inheritance. Hua Yanluo, despite Qin Yue's reservations, accepted the wager, driven by pride and the legendary potential of acquiring multiple inheritances. Yun Sheng, confused by the concept of wagering innate abilities, questioned the process, only to be dismissed by Hua Yanluo.

Yun Sheng’s inquiry brought Hua Yanluo back to her senses.

"Furthermore, both of you need to pay close attention. While we three are all competing, one of us is merely going through the motions. Once the results are finalized, if you haven't contributed, don't even dream of acquiring the Sky Fox Inheritance," Hua Yanluo was not so naive as to be incapable of self-preservation.

She cast a glance at Yun Sheng, her meaning clearly conveyed that her words were directed at him.

Standing nearby, Qin Yue observed Hua Yanluo’s declaration and a spark of satisfaction glimmered in her eyes.

Hua Yanluo had truly walked into her trap.

For Qin Yue, a loss in this competition would only result in brief humiliation and a few nights in ordinary accommodations. However, a victory held the potential to grant her Liu Xueyu’s Sky Fox Inheritance.

To Qin Yue, who was entirely ignorant of the Sky Fox Inheritance's true value, it felt akin to discarding a sesame seed while grasping a watermelon – an exceptionally favorable outcome.

Even if she failed to secure the title of Heavenly Fox Saintess during this selection process, merely obtaining the Sky Fox Inheritance would significantly elevate her standing within her family upon her return to Cangdu.

The hidden agendas of both Qin Yue and Hua Yanluo were fully perceived by Yun Sheng.

Yun Sheng simply shrugged, mentally concluding that he would remain an observer while these ladies engaged in their stratagems amongst themselves.

"So, after all this deliberation, do you two intend to accept the challenge, or does your motley crew possess no Sky Fox Inheritance to speak of?" Liu Xueyu’s entourage erupted in mocking laughter once more.

Their derisive jeers only served to further enrage Hua Yanluo and Qin Yue.

"Who claims we don't? I stake the Hua Family’s Sky Fox Inheritance. The victors shall not only claim those rooms but also acquire the loser's Sky Fox Inheritance," Hua Yanluo refused to yield.

In accordance with the agreement, both parties procured writing materials, documented their respective inheritances, and submitted them to the innkeeper.

The innkeeper then instructed his staff to retrieve two chests, placing each Sky Fox Inheritance securely within one.

"Distinguished ladies, the wager has been established. You may now commence your competition," the innkeeper maintained his composure, despite the significance of the Sky Fox Inheritance.

He gestured to a nearby attendant, who discreetly merged with the crowd and exited the inn.

Shortly thereafter, the sequence of matches was finalized. For the Cangdu contingent, the order was Hua Yanluo, followed by Qin Yue, and finally Yun Sheng.

Conversely, for the Fengdu side, the candidate Saintesses were arranged as Chen Qi, Lu Yunshuang, and Liu Xueyu.

Upon learning of the match order, both Hua Yanluo and Qin Yue displayed evident satisfaction.

Meanwhile, Liu Xueyu and her companions appeared unperturbed, as if this initial arrangement was entirely expected.

Liu Xueyu’s placement at the end clearly designated her as the strongest contender in terms of power.

Despite Hua Yanluo’s bold pronouncements, she harbored no desire to confront Liu Xueyu directly.

As for Qin Yue, her apprehension was equally understandable.

With this strategic ordering, Liu Xueyu was slated to face the seemingly insignificant Yun Sheng in the final match.

Confronting Liu Xueyu meant that Yun Sheng stood no chance of victory; a loss was virtually assured.

Hua Yanluo and Qin Yue’s sole responsibility was to secure victories in the initial two bouts. The outcome of the third match, regardless of whether the designated loser triumphed or was defeated, even if they met their demise, was inconsequential to them.

Within the courtyard, a rudimentary platform, typically utilized for banquets and outdoor theatrical performances, had been temporarily erected.

"The first bout: Hua Yanluo versus Chen Qi."

With a light touch of her foot upon the ground, Hua Yanluo ascended the stage with remarkable agility, appearing like a swift, unexpected apparition. Her vibrant youthful energy and flowing crimson attire made for a striking spectacle.

From Fengdu, Chen Qi executed a similar maneuver, joining Hua Yanluo on the stage. She, too, was a practitioner of martial arts, and in terms of physical appearance, she presented a comparable match to Hua Yanluo.

Boom-boom—

Before Chen Qi, a swirling, ice-white battle spirit began to manifest.

Hua Yanluo advanced, and a crimson flash emanated from her sleeve.

It was a dagger – the very same weapon Hua Yanluo employed earlier when ambushing the Thunder Demon Hermit.

An aura of menace radiated from the dagger; it was clearly a Holy-grade Magic Artifact.

As the dagger swept through the air, its intense gleam fragmented into multiple streams of light, assaulting Chen Qi from exceptionally cunning angles.

Upon witnessing the formidable power of this dagger, Chen Qi dared not engage it directly.

She swiftly maneuvered behind Hua Yanluo, her battle spirit bifurcating into three distinct forms, which coalesced into three phantom daggers.

As these spectral daggers sliced through the air, a series of metallic clangs echoed – 'ding, ding, ding' – as they deflected Hua Yanluo’s dagger on three separate occasions.

The impact of the phantom daggers sent a jarring sensation up Hua Yanluo’s arm, causing her grip to ache. She rotated her wrist, forcefully thrusting the dagger forward; the swordsmanship, while not overly complex, was amplified when merged with Hua Yanluo’s battle spirit.

The sword's radiance intensified exponentially, conjuring a swirling, snow-like illusion that disoriented Chen Qi, compelling her to retreat several paces.

Chen Qi proved to be no pushover either. With a subtle flick of her finger,

the three phantom daggers, as if possessing their own volition, executed a U-turn and shot directly towards Hua Yanluo’s face.

Three dagger thrusts, sharp as ever and aimed directly at Hua Yanluo’s critical points, loomed, threatening to impale her head should they connect.

Among those watching, Qin Yue couldn’t suppress a gasp.

The innkeeper, acting as the referee, was already in position, his robes swirling as if stirred by an invisible wind, clearly prepared to intervene should an emergency arise.

However, at that precise moment, a blazing red fighting spirit erupted from Hua Yanluo’s body, reminiscent of a Fiery Fire. Initially trapped with no escape route, Hua Yanluo suddenly bifurcated into two identical figures.

"The Sky Fox Inheritance, Fox Shadow Traceless style," the Jiuluan Clan Patriarch remarked casually from his vantage point by the window.

With the revelation of the Sky Fox Inheritance, the original Hua Yanluo expertly twirled her short sword in a dazzling display, deflecting the three daggers with a series of sharp clangs.

Simultaneously, the newly formed Hua Yanluo flicked her sleeve, unleashing a ferocious wave of fighting spirit towards the exposed Chen Qi.

Bang—

With a pained groan, Chen Qi was launched off the stage, crashing heavily onto the ground below.

"The match is decided; you’ve lost the first round," Hua Yanluo declared, retracting her fighting spirit, her beautiful face etched with a stern, killing intent.

Despite her victory, the triumph had not been easily won; she had needed to deploy the Sky Fox Inheritance and a Holy-grade Magic Artifact to overcome Chen Qi.

Nevertheless, a win is a win, and a strong start meant only one more victory was required from the remaining two matches.

Under the admiring and envious gazes of the crowd, Hua Yanluo gracefully exited the stage, her demeanor as proud as a peacock displaying its plumage.

On the Fengdu team’s side, despite the loss in the first match, Liu Xueyu appeared unfazed. She simply tended to Chen Qi’s injuries, exchanged a few quiet words with another Heavenly Fox Candidate Saintess, and maintained her composure.

Qin Yue’s attention shifted to their assembled opponents. Her adversary in the upcoming second match was identified as the Heavenly Fox Candidate Saintess named Lu Yunshuang.
