Volume 7 Chapter 26: To Create a More Perfect World
"Master, are you alright? You seem... different," Melon asked, her voice laced with concern.
"Walson..." Aurevia began, but her words faltered.
"..." Grace furrowed her brows deeply, remaining silent.
The three women, who had spent countless days together with Walson, quickly realized something was wrong with the person standing before them.
The boy was short, with a familiar face, but his left eye gleamed an eerie white.
Though his voice sounded the same, its tone struck Grace and the others as chillingly cold and unfamiliar.
"You’re here, so I’ll assume that dragon is dead. Pity, it was a good mount." The boy let his hands drop limply to his sides. "Oh, but that’s not something the role I’m playing right now should be saying."
"...Who are you?" Grace asked, her words stripped of unnecessary pleasantries.
It was clear: the person before her was not the one she knew.
Melon and Aurevia also said nothing further, their gazes fixed on the boy.
"Does it matter? I carry all the memories, every moment I’ve shared with you. I am him, and yet, I am not. It’s up to you how you see it." His tone was flippant, and a cocky smile danced on his lips.
"...Why are you doing this?" Grace asked.
"To create a more perfect world," the boy explained with a smile. "Fighters, mages, villagers, humans, and demi-humans... Surely, you’ve realized how unfair and irrational a world bound by such rules is."
"I want to change it. To do so, I need the power to create worlds. So, I’m asking for your cooperation, ladies. Please, don’t stand in my way. I really don’t want to be your enemy."
The three women stood silently for a moment.
"Walson said that if we fail to stop this, everything will become irreversible." Grace broke the silence after a long pause, stepping forward.
"Forgive me, Master, but I’ll have to ask you to rest a while longer. I apologize in advance for any offense." The [Tyrant’s Arm] equipped on Melon’s hands emitted a metallic crack.
"Sorry, Walson." Black wings unfurled from Aurevia’s back.
Seeing the resolve in the girls’ eyes, the boy could only sigh with a faint smile. The white light in his left eye grew brighter as he stepped forward. With a flick of his left hand, he tossed a miniature [Command Cube], then snatched it midair with his right hand, which burst into radiant, six-colored light.
Grace drew the staff from her back and pointed it at the boy, her immense magical energy beginning to surge.
A purple magic circle unfolded layer by layer, encircling the boy completely. In the next instant, countless iron chains surged forth like fanged beasts!
The boy merely smirked. With a casual sweep of his glowing right hand, the very space around them seemed to distort, creating a strange ripple that shattered the oncoming chains into fragments. The magic circle crumbled in the aftermath.
Attacks from all directions were neutralized so effortlessly!
Grace’s eyes widened. While the purpose of her spell had been to restrain rather than harm, to destroy it with such ease...
In her moment of shock, she realized too late—the boy was already in front of her.
He swung his glowing right fist, striking what seemed to be thin air before her. A brilliant, six-colored crack erupted into existence.
"Repel X!"
Grace felt an invisible, hurricane-like force slam into her, hurling her backward!
At the same time, the boy extended his hand toward her trajectory. A flash of light later, countless white threads shot out, binding her. When Grace opened her eyes again, she found herself pinned to the ground and the wall.
"You’d better show me your true abilities, ladies. I’m not as weak as you imagine. That previous form couldn’t even bring out twenty percent of this body’s potential." His voice was calm yet menacing. He suddenly ducked, dodging Melon’s blade-like chop by a hair’s breadth.
Without missing a beat, the boy casually raised his right hand, catching Melon’s ferocious punch as if it were nothing.
With a deafening boom, a wave of pressure erupted to the boy’s left, kicking up clouds of dust. Melon’s eyes widened in shock as she tried to push her right fist forward but found it utterly immovable.
"I told you, didn’t I, Melon?" The boy’s grin widened as the multicolored light crawled along her arm. Suddenly, countless golden cubes materialized out of thin air, stacking layer upon layer, encasing Melon. The golden structure grew into the shape of a small hill, its massive weight forcing her to her knees, unable to rise.
"A single cubic meter of gold is heavy enough, isn’t it? Take a moment to calm down. I really don’t want to hurt you," the boy remarked lightly, gazing at Melon, who was struggling beneath the weight. At that moment, a distinct click sounded from behind his head.
"Don’t move. Raise your hands, or I’ll pull the trigger!" Aurevia’s sharp voice rang out as she pressed her repeating crossbow, [Apache], against the back of the boy’s head. The tip of the bolt was so close he could almost feel its cold, sharp presence.
Given the weapon’s power and rapid-fire capability, there was no conceivable way for the boy to dodge.
Yet, the boy only laughed, squinting his eyes as he calmly turned to meet Aurevia’s gaze.
"Then go ahead, pull the trigger." His wild grin spread, and the sinister glow of his pale left eye intensified.
"..."
"If you don’t act, I’ll continue what I’m doing, and everything will spiral into irreversibility." The boy extended his right hand to grip Aurevia’s crossbow, pressing the tip of the bolt against his own forehead.
"..." Aurevia remained silent, but her hands trembled. The bolt’s tip pierced his skin, drawing a bead of blood.
"Come on. It’s not hard. Just do it—end it all," the boy goaded her, his voice calm but laden with mockery. Then, for a moment, his expression faltered.
Aurevia bit her lip, her head bowed, her expression unreadable. Her hands shook so violently she could barely hold the crossbow steady. Tears streamed down her face as she teetered on the verge of a breakdown.
The boy found himself unexpectedly disappointed by the scene. With a subtle sigh, the multicolored glow from his right hand rippled outward, engulfing Aurevia. Moments later, she collapsed limply to the ground.
Turning away, the boy approached the stone gate standing in the center of the platform. As he passed the spot where Grace lay pinned by sticky spider silk, he noticed she was still struggling against her bindings.
She attempted to teleport, but her body, trapped within the web, refused to disassemble into petals.
"Give it up and watch quietly. an Endermen who got caught in Spider Web can’t teleport. I know your abilities better than you do," the boy remarked before continuing toward the stone gate.
He placed his glowing right hand on the gate. Waves of light rippled outward, dyeing the structure in shimmering hues. In an instant, the gate transformed.
The once plain door now had a frame of ominous obsidian, dark and polished, exuding an eerie aura.
Just as the boy prepared to make his next move, a spine-chilling sound of corrosion echoed from behind him.
He turned to find a mist of purple vapor rising from where the spider silk had been. The corrosive mist rapidly dissolved the webs, leaving nothing but smoke in its wake.
From the haze emerged a figure holding a staff.
She staggered as she walked, her body battered and bruised. Her equipment was tattered and corroded, but her glowing purple eyes burned with unwavering determination.
"Ender Dragon Breath? You always manage to surprise me, Grace." The boy chuckled, his arrogant smile now tinged with a hint of astonishment and even a trace of admiration.
The boy casually tossed the miniature [Command Cube] embedded in his right palm onto the ground. The cube bounced, unleashing gusts of wind as if summoning something vast and unseen.
"...Hey, Walson—or whoever you are—do you remember? Back when we first entered the capital, we had a fight," Grace said, her voice low yet steady.
"Of course. How could I forget? That’s the first time we had a genuine fight.... come to think of it..." the boy replied, pausing momentarily. "That fight... hasn’t ended yet, has it?"
"...Then let’s settle it here," Grace declared, raising her staff and pointing it at the boy.
A torrent of magic surged forth, wild and unstoppable.
