King of Creation Chapter 1943 - 1928: Chi Ling’er’s Satisfaction
Previously on King of Creation...
Old Zhu wasn’t some stranger, but one of the Four Demons who had left the True Profound Continent together with Ye Zhen back then—the Pig Demon, Zhu Hong.
Zhu Hong’s coming here was not unexpected.
Xuan Hu, the Arm Flame Lion King Sunx Ba, Zhu Hong, and Hu Qingtong had all come from the True Profound Continent; they were all outsiders. After arriving in the Taimeng Demon Realm, they often kept in touch and looked out for each other, which was only natural.
Up to now, Ye Zhen still couldn’t figure out what exactly Hu Qingtong was thinking, or why she refused to let Chi Ling’er acknowledge him as her father.
Ye Zhen wanted to ask, but Hu Qingtong wouldn’t even give him that chance.
Now that Zhu Hong, who had quite a good relationship with Hu Qingtong, was here, Ye Zhen wanted Zhu Hong to help communicate, to figure out what on earth the reason was.
In the past, Ye Zhen hadn’t known of Chi Ling’er’s existence. Although he had indeed become husband and wife with Hu Qingtong in all but name, and Ye Zhen had clearly stated he would take responsibility, most of the time he was respecting Hu Qingtong’s wishes.
Ye Zhen’s earlier thought had been that as long as Hu Qingtong was unwilling, he would not force it.
But now that there was Chi Ling’er, things were different. Ye Zhen had to take responsibility.
This wasn’t just because of Chi Ling’er, nor merely for the sake of being a father; it was also for Hu Qingtong’s sake.
Ye Zhen knew that Hu Qingtong definitely had him in her heart. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have single‑handedly, through so many bitter years, raised Chi Ling’er, and even let Chi Ling’er take the surname Ye.
As for the reason, Ye Zhen made a guess: it should be related to that year when Fengh Qingyue caught them in the act and stormed off, and afterwards Ye Zhen left Hu Qingtong behind to go search for Fengh Qingyue.
But the situation back then had truly been too complicated.
No matter what, now Ye Zhen would definitely find a way to get Hu Qingtong to accept him.
"Eh? Brother Ye?"
Seeing Ye Zhen, Zhu Hong was stunned at first, then suddenly rushed forward, ecstatically grabbing Ye Zhen’s shoulders and shaking him hard. "Brother Ye, how did you end up here?"
"Hahahaha, I didn’t expect that coming to Qing Tong’s place I’d run into you, Brother Ye. This is great!"
Among the Demon Race, the larger their bodies, the larger they remained after shapeshifting. Someone like Zhu Hong stood a full two and a half meters tall, like a giant. At this moment he was shaking Ye Zhen fiercely, making Ye Zhen’s eyes roll back.
Fortunately, Ye Zhen’s Black Dragon Tyrant Body had already reached Small Success; otherwise, this round of wild shaking would have rattled him apart.
Before Ye Zhen could steady himself, Zhu Hong suddenly pulled back his hand and slammed an iron fist into Ye Zhen’s chest, forcing Ye Zhen three steps back, his Qi and blood surging.
"Serves you right. You brat should’ve come to see Qing Tong ages ago. If you still didn’t come, the few of us brothers were about to go cause you trouble!" Zhu Hong pointed at Ye Zhen’s nose and cursed.
Ye Zhen gave a wry smile.
Clearly, Zhu Hong had already known about this for a long time—he was the only one kept in the dark.
This matter was something Ye Zhen truly had no way to explain; he could only blame himself for being so slow on the uptake!
"Right, since you’re here, why aren’t you going in to see Qing Tong? What are you doing hanging around out here?" Zhu Hong asked in surprise. "Don’t tell me you still haven’t seen Chi Ling’er?"
"I’ve seen her." Ye Zhen gave another bitter smile.
"Now you get it, right?" Zhu Hong leaned in close to Ye Zhen. "Did you notice? That little girl Chi Ling’er, her brows and eyes look way too much like you, brat." Afraid he might miss it, Zhu Hong even spelled it out for Ye Zhen.
"I know now. Chi Ling’er is my child."
"Then why aren’t you going in?" Zhu Hong’s eyes widened as he was about to lose his temper.
"I went in, met her, but before I could bring it up, Qing Tong kicked me out again. I’ve been waiting out here at the door for three to four days. Qing Tong just won’t let me in," Ye Zhen said helplessly.
"You’ve waited three to four days; your sincerity’s clear enough, and she still won’t let you in?" Zhu Hong pondered for a moment, then his eyes rolled. "Hold on, I’ll go inside and have a talk with Qing Tong first."
Walking up to Hu Qingtong’s door, he saw the Cloud Winged Tiger King Kitten and Hur Chimei, both having reverted to their true forms, snuggled up together.
Although the kitten’s appearance had changed a bit, Zhu Hong still recognized the Cloud Winged Tiger King Kitten at a glance and casually gave him a kick.
"Heh, you little thing, already seducing a tigress so early. Looks like you haven’t learned anything good either."
That one kick cut off the kitten’s fun while he was in the middle of his cuddle, making him let out a displeased low growl.
"Oh? You still dare bare your fangs at your grandpa here?"
With a teasing grin, Zhu Hong swung a palm at the kitten’s head.
Already in a foul mood, the kitten snorted coldly through his nose. One tiger paw lifted and met Zhu Hong’s palm head‑on.
Feeling the power contained in that tiger paw, Zhu Hong immediately understood the kitten’s provocative intent. What had originally been a playful slap suddenly sped up as he poured strength into it.
Paw and palm collided, producing a muffled boom like thunder.
With the resounding crash, Zhu Hong staggered back three steps. Looking at his own rapidly swelling palm, then at the kitten, his expression gradually turned astonished.
With a ripple of Divine Sense, Zhu Hong’s Divine Soul Power swept over the kitten several times. Then he stared at the kitten with a look like he’d seen a ghost and said, "Late Stage of Fifth Stage of Realm King Realm?"
"You little thing, it’s only been a few years—how on earth have you been cultivating?"
Under Zhu Hong’s astonished gaze, the kitten, having finished showing off, snorted another breath of cold air from his nostrils, let out a low growl, and slowly lay down. With a casual tug, he pulled the now petite Hur Chimei back into his arms.
"This..." Zhu Hong looked at Ye Zhen with a helpless face.
"If you want to know about that, we can talk later. Go see Qing Tong first," Ye Zhen urged.
"Uh... fine!" Zhu Hong scratched his head somewhat awkwardly. "Didn’t expect that after just a few years, this little thing’s strength has actually surpassed mine. Sigh..."
Pushing open the gate to the courtyard in a very casual manner, Zhu Hong’s loud, boisterous voice rang out at once.
Clearly, Zhu Hong was very familiar with this place and came here often.
"Chi Ling’er, your Uncle Zhu is here. Why aren’t you coming out?"
"Guess what good food your Uncle Zhu brought you this time?"
The room door that had remained tightly shut was pushed open a crack, revealing Chi Ling’er’s little head. She first cautiously glanced at Ye Zhen and the others in the courtyard, then said, "Uncle Zhu, you didn’t bring me sugar figurines again, did you? My mother won’t let me eat them. She says if I eat too many sugar figurines, my teeth will go bad!"
"How could I still be bringing you sugar figurines? This time your uncle brought you Five-colored Bean Strips, fresh as can be. Your uncle queued in Qingqiu City for an hour just to buy them for you."
Chi Ling’er took the Five-colored Bean Strips Zhu Hong handed her. With a light bite, an expression of surprise appeared on her little face. Then she gave it a tiny lick with the tip of her tongue, and her face was full of satisfaction.
Zhu Hong, on the other hand, wore a sly smile.
"Sugar. Sweet. That Zhu fellow still brought this little girl sugar," the kitten sniffed and said.
Ye Zhen signaled the kitten to hush. Watching Chi Ling’er secretly savor the candy with that utterly pleased look, Ye Zhen’s lips couldn’t help but curl into a smile.
However, Ye Zhen was even more expectant—eager to see whether Zhu Hong could find out the answer.
An hour later, Zhu Hong came out of Hu Qingtong’s room with a thoroughly disgruntled face, making Ye Zhen’s heart sink.
