Journey to the End of the Night Chapter 1687 - 1011: The Whale Appears (Part 2)
Previously on Journey to the End of the Night...
"Oh?" The tall man slowly turned around, revealing the rugged face of a middle-aged man beneath the hood.
"The Mortal World is never short of meddlesome people, if so..."
Ink-blue, indescribable energy enveloped the man, and the veins on the hand exposed outside his cloak bulged, each finger extending out stark white and sharp. A force as vast as the sea filled his palm.
Just as he was about to flip his hand, a fleeting image of three fox tails flashed before his eyes.
The man’s face froze momentarily, the wind in the alley grew fierce, lifting his cloak, allowing Baili An to finally see his entire face clearly.
This man was bald, but on his head were scales resembling those of a Black Flood Dragon, glimmering coldly in the daylight.
This person’s appearance was definitely not that of an ordinary mortal.
Yet, Baili An could not sense even a hint of demonic power from him.
Neither human nor demon, harvesting the essence of a mortal body to form an egg...
A sharp gleam flashed in Baili An’s eyes: "You are... the Dragon Fish Whale."
Today’s Golden Immortal auction had indeed attracted the true Dragon Fish Whale.
"Oh? A mere mortal who knows my name."
The Dragon Fish Whale seemed quite wary of Shu Ci’s presence, slowly lowering his hand while looking at Baili An with a gaze full of savage wildness.
"Unfortunately, I don’t much like others knowing of me, for in this world, those who study me are often coveting the Silver Gate."
"Boy, you’re in luck today, I won’t kill..."
As soon as he finished speaking, the drifting snow became chaotic, and the face of the youth once distant in his sight suddenly appeared right before him, faster than he could have imagined.
Was it another attack by that strange blood spear?
The Dragon Fish Whale sneered, his hand spread wide, and from beneath his palm, a ghostly blue harpoon materialized.
If it came to weaponry, this ocean artifact of his was tempered from the backbone of the Sea God, capable of shattering thousands of blades.
Though the blood spear had a bizarre aura, he was confident this harpoon could pierce through both spear and person effortlessly.
Yet before the ghostly blue harpoon was fully formed or its killing energy unleashed, a white fist wrapped in wind and lightning came howling toward him.
Upon realizing his true form was the giant sea beast ’Dragon Fish Whale’, did they dare to challenge him, testing brute strength and physical physique?!
Such blind arrogance, or foolishness.
The Dragon Fish Whale met the challenge willingly, letting the harpoon vanish, and he transformed his hand into a fist. As he punched, a monumental tide sound roared behind him, manifesting a colossal, sweeping spiritual image.
Compared to Baili An’s seemingly weaker punch, this one stirred natural disasters, vast and overwhelming.
Before the calamity, all creatures kneel.
The Dragon Fish Whale smirked confidently, yet failed to see the shock or terror he expected in the youth’s eyes.
Despite the sunlight and roiling tide sounds, the youth’s eyes remained deep as a chilly pond.
As the fists collided, the Dragon Fish Whale’s spiritual image suddenly shattered, the thick snow beneath flattened.
He felt excruciating pain in his bones, his fists, back of the hand, even the arm, forced to reveal layers of sharp scales, cold and hard as blades.
That punch forced out parts of his original form.
Startled, the Dragon Fish Whale realized that the long-neglected Mortal World had unexpectedly bred such a formidable force in the body cultivation lineage.
Their brief clash was destined to last only a moment.
The loud commotion soon drew the attention of the Guard Army in the city.
Outside the snow alley, came the rhythmic sound of iron boots breaking through the winds and snow.
The Dragon Fish Whale chose to retreat instead of continuing the fight, he expertly turned, killing with residual force the one half-kneeling in the snow, and then leaped into the air, muttering to himself: "I can’t let the fools in Shifang City know I’ve entered the city, ah, I better follow that person’s advice and show only this form to outsiders."
As he moved, his towering figure transformed rapidly, the scales on his head faded and disappeared, replaced by long, jet-black hair, and his features shifted quickly to become a face Baili An was quite familiar with.
Cloaked in a wide mantle, he disappeared into the long street.
Soon, the approaching sounds of the Guard Army’s footsteps drew nearer outside the alley:
"It’s ’Qingzhi’ from Demon Alliance’s One Drop of Blood!"
"Capture him!"
Baili An furrowed his brow repeatedly, this Dragon Fish Whale... even shifted to Qingzhi’s appearance, but the person he mentioned... who could it be?!
He glanced at the fallen, deceased Heaven’s man in the blood-soaked snow, knowing he must leave this troubled place.
Though riddled with doubts, he summoned Shu Ci back and promptly left there.
Back in the private room, the auction bell rang once more, proceeding as usual.
Baili An’s mind was full of turmoil.
The events today, evidently, were Dragon Fish Whale’s deliberate setup to implicate One Drop of Blood.
Normally careful and cautious in his missions, Qingzhi rarely exposed his identity to the public, moreover, having no interactions with Dragon Fish Whale.
Why did the Dragon Fish Whale then choose to adopt his appearance?
Thankfully, Qingzhi, an outstanding assassin from Demon Alliance, was skilled in disguise techniques.
The identity exposed was that of Qingzhi from Demon Alliance, but his other persona that allowed him to traverse the mortal world remained confidential.
Yet, a mere cultivator was unlikely worth the risk to the Dragon Fish Whale, exposing his identity with such fanfare.
Those three celestial cultists from Upper Pure Realm were likely figures of high standing in Heaven.
All this meant, Dragon Fish Whale splashed quite a bit of mud on Demon Alliance.
Since its establishment, One Drop of Blood has always acted discreetly, naturally somewhat contrary to Immortal Venerable Zhu Zhan’s past noble intent in the world of demons.
The death of those three celestial beings was probably bait, exposing the name of Demon Alliance’s One Drop of Blood under broad daylight.
This was certainly no good.
Was the Demon Alliance being secretly manipulated?
Or had they already targeted Ji Xinnian’s mortal presence, his guise?
Regardless of which, Qingzhi not only carried the deaths of three cosmic envoys, but now three more inexplicable burdens.
The Dragon Fish Whale’s obvious attempt to frame him, so Qingzhi was soon bound to be exposed.
The second half of the auction also officially resumed.
Despite the unforeseen events, Baili An remained composed, processing all the day’s implications within his mind.
Dragon Fish Whale came to Shifang City only due to the threat of the Ying Dragon.
Yet he unexpectedly got pulled into a mysterious scheme against Demon Alliance’s One Drop of Blood.
Baili An’s intuition warned him, his enemy might not come from a single force.
"The next auction item, Ying Dragon’s blood, ten pounds, starting at thirty thousand top-grade spiritual stones!"
At this moment, the Emcee’s voice rang like silent thunder within the Mystic Light Mirror, jolting Baili An’s thoughts, unable to calmly analyze any further.
He looked up abruptly, focusing on the auction item presented within the mirror.
Right before he could think, the bidding began to display on the screen.
"Fifty thousand top-grade spiritual stones, wandering immortal nobleman, Shen Qilang?!!!"
The first enthusiastic bid turned out to be from the Emperor?!
Was he not one of the Venerable Immortals, yet interested in the Ying Dragon’s blood?
"Seventy thousand top-grade spiritual stones, Demon Alliance’s One Drop of Blood, Qingzhi."
An astonishing statement once again!!!!!
Baili An stood abruptly, filled with intense hostility.
Sitting in the private room, indulging in grapes fed by beauties, Shen Qilang was intent on acquiring the Dragon Blood, offering fifty thousand top-grade spiritual stones casually.
He remained unfazed and reckless.
Thinking everything was settled, but the sudden seventy thousand bid caught him off guard, leaving his brow locked with displeasure.
